Two Bosses Enter: Keristrasza vs. Cyanigosa

We're back! Live from WoW Insider, the Wrath Season of Two Bosses Enter, One Boss Leaves. Two Bosses is our series of fantasy death matches between the game's infamous PvE villains. This season, we'll throw into the pit the bosses of Wrath of the Lich King's five-man instances, two by two, until we come up with an ultimate winner.
The best part? You determine who wins.
The central tenet of a Two Bosses matchup is an assumption that the bosses are of approximately the same level and health and that they're fighting in neutral territory. It's fighting abilities and scale we're debating here – so don't get caught up in actual game mechanics. Consider the flavor each villainous gladiator brings to bear, and cast your vote for who you think would come out on top.
Your first match-up in Two Bosses Enter: The Wrath Season -- Keristrasza versus Cyanigosa. Details and your chance to determine the winner, after the break.
Week One: Keristrasza of The Nexus vs. Cyanigosa of The Violet Hold
What happens when two dragons meet, cone effect to cone effect?
Keristrasza, The Nexus
Keristrasza, a servant of Alexstrasza's flight, plotted to distract Malygos from his efforts in the Nexus War by offing his consort, Saragosa, and facing him down with a fleet of red dragons. While the plan did serve to divert his attention, Malygos imprisoned Keristrasza within The Nexus. She's currently held there, where players must kill her in order to preserve her ultimate freedom.
Keristrasza's abilities
Would Cyanigosa jump up and down while fighting Keristrasza? We don't think so – it doesn't seem very dignified for a dragon. Click over to read more details on Keristrasza's fighting style.
Cyanigosa, The Violet Hold
Cyanigosa is a powerful blue dragon who has been ordered to The Violet Hold by Malygos, with a plan to release the prisoners and invade the city of Dalaran.
Cyanigosa's abilities
Does a dragon who snatches up opponents and teleports them to her really care about being immobilized by Keristrasza's Crystal Chains? Click over to read more details on Cyanigosa's fighting style.
The smackdown
Wait! Before you vote, remember: this isn't a theorycrafting spreadsheet from Elitist Jerks. Two Bosses is more like the endless debates found on the EJ forums following a good mathematical smack-down, as posters shake down how things actually play out. Set aside differences in our opponents' health pools, level and damage output, and consider instead the spirit of each villain's abilities (including heroic abilities) and fighting style.

| Neither -- it's a draw |
We'll be back next Thursday morning as One Boss Leaves ... And again later that afternoon, as another Two Bosses Enter.

I've been waiting so long for this to come back,
HOORAH!
James B Jan 22nd 2009 7:39PM
Easy, the red dragon. We all know the blue aspect is the first to die. And he's the only one who could beat Keri anyway.
Ryan11 Jan 22nd 2009 7:47PM
Obviously not Cyanigosa. We all know that dragons don't jump in place.
Balasan Jan 23rd 2009 12:04AM
They may not be jumping in place, but it doesn't stop me from imagining and then rolling on the floor laughing at the thought.
Kerisastraza ftw. Red > Blue.

Is this the first post at wowinsider where the first poster DOESNT say first? Hm, maybe its because school vacation is over and the ADD kids are back on their meds.
Anyway, I HEART THIS FEETURE ITS SO AMAZING AND FUN AND I CANT WAIT FOR ARTHUS V.S. UMMM THAT ULDUAR GUY WHOS LIKE REALLLY TOUGH AND HAS BIG SWORD!

Why everyone keep saying that Cy can't jump and that's why she loses? You don't have to jump to remove it. A step back and forth will remove it and since Cy can't be frozen with nova Keri loses.
Yeng Jan 23rd 2009 10:42AM
"A step back and forth will remove it"
So Cyan only has to do a little country line dancing instead :D

or being a winged dragon she could simply use her wings to fly for a short burst of time.

You guys are adding in things that the boss "could do". That's not what this is about.
They "could" blow a breath that deals 80k damage, but that's not what the boss does.
Simple fact of the matter is that the dragon does not walk around. She plants herself and doesn't move.
Game over for her.
Quit adding in things you would "like" them to do.

I have an issue. Why do people turn the first comment into a full blown thread? I thought we had general posting for that...

what i like about this round of this, is that they are bosses I have actually fought, as opposed to the last time which was all bosses that after 3 years of gameplay I still haven't seen.

Two words: intense cold.
The fact that Cyanigosa would use Arcane Vacuum to bring Keristrasza to her means she would be moving very little.
HOWEVER, if we assume that the Blue Dragonflight have an inherent resistance to cold, Cyan might win.
Thiosion Jan 22nd 2009 7:16PM
Also, on another subject, because the Blue Dragonflight reminded me of it:
Great fun to be had in Crystalsong Forest with the Azure Manashapers that may be found on the platforms above the Azure Front.
The Manashapers will knock you around quite far, and for the unprepared, most likely off the platform. However, landing on the platform does not aggro them.
So, with the aid of a hunter with misdirect, bring some friends with you to host a survival competition: whoever stays on the longest wins! The great part is, because of the multiple platforms and solo-pulling, you can pull as many as you want. As people get better at it, add more Manashapers, alcohol, both in-game and out, and maybe even pull a Crystal Wyrm for giggles.
Just a little pastime I wanted to share. Rate it down for offtopic if you must.

I don't think theres any real contest here. Keristrasza would win. That and i feel sorry for killing her everytime cause of the prequests :(
Balius Jan 23rd 2009 3:13AM
The whole, "You killed my lover, now I'm going to kidnap you and force you to have my babies" thing doesn't make you all cheerful at the epic lootz?
phobomancer Jan 22nd 2009 7:12PM
is there a place where we can see all of the bosses participating in this one?
or is it only wotlk 5 man bosses
Lisa Poisso Jan 22nd 2009 7:20PM
All the five-man bosses will be up, with winner continuing via elimination!
Thiosion Jan 22nd 2009 8:32PM
Wait... so will it be tourney-style, or will Keri keep going until she dies?
So... in other words, will it be as such:
Cyan v. (Keri) > (Keri) v. Anub > Keri v. (Loken) > Loken v. Eregos
Or:
Cyan v. (Keri) + Anub v. (Loken) > Keri v. Loken
Probably the second, but just making sure. Pulled those bosses out of my tookus, by the way. Not the order they should be/I want them in.
blkmasta55555 Jan 23rd 2009 3:28AM
The second one, if last time was any indication.
Personally I'd call it a draw, assuming blue dragons are near-immune to cold as i think they are. Otherwise, Keri, ofc.
cal Jan 22nd 2009 7:15PM
Yeah this is a seriously one-sided fight if you pitted them against eachother with their normal mob AI. Intense cold and her enrage alone would seal the deal for Keristrasza.
If Cyanigoas did learn to jump up and down like a crazed mad person then perhaps she'd be in there with a fighting chance, but that enrage is pretty dang deadly.
