There are times when someone needs a summon. Need another healer, Boomkin has to go to Moonglade to respec Resto. MT is no show, Ret Pally has to respec Prot. Key player just got a T7 drop, we're taking a five min bio, while key player zips off to gear it out and grab gems from guild bank, and take an enchanter with you. Etc... Stuff happens. Someone leaves, have to pull in another player, whatever. Summons are needed during the raid all the time too.
