Breakfast Topics: 37! In a row?
Yesterday I was out tromping around Nagrand with my Shaman leveling her up, killing mob after mob. There was a point that when I killed about 10 mobs in a row, and I thought to myself "Killing Spree!" Harking back to the days of yore and Quake 3.This got me thinking. There is one critical achievement that is missing in the game.
A killing spree achievement, ideally reached when you kill 37 mobs in a row without stopping. In fact, there's a great title for it featured as the name of this article. Go ahead Blizzard, take this one idea for free. To you, from me; your friend Adam.
But oh wait, there's more. I was twittering last night about this, and there were some good suggestions that came across the feed. More after the break!
Account Wide Achievements
@Stwo wanted to see some account wide achievements, in particular an achievement to raise a certain number of character to 70 / 80. This is a great one, and I know that Blizzard intends to do account wide achievements in the future. Hopefully this will be something that'll be rolled out in a content patch, and not the next expansion.
Class Achievements
@JssSandals is asking for class achievements. This is a good idea. Something to show off that you've completed all your class quests, which I bet is something most people haven't done, especially on alts. It would be a wonderful achievement for people to work through. Plus, getting something special for actually doing your epic mount quest at 60 / 70 would be rather neat as well.
Drunken Flight
@BlackLab tweets that getting smashed and managing to fly somewhere mounted should be an achievement. My response? Right on, sir. Let me make you a Bloody Mary.
Latency Raiding
@shinigami052 says that downing heroic Kel'Thuzad with everyone in your group having 1000+ latency is worthy of an achievement. And you know what? I think I agree.
Professions Maxed
@JusticeJuice laments that there is no achievement for having maxed professions. I found this odd too as I was leveling up. It's one of those things that you'd expect would be there, but isn't.
Don't Kick The Baby
@Redfroggy suggest that Gnome punting should be an achievement. I couldn't agree more, and I'm sure you will all agree too, right?
This weekend is going to be my Kevin Smith themed weekend. Well, really it's just going to be another Kevin Smithish type post tomorrow. You'll see what I mean later...

Marc Jan 24th 2009 8:23AM
No one hates gnomes. We all love them as sports equipment and food.
Janoi Jan 24th 2009 9:40AM
gnome???? o that thing under my shoe....
FlameFlash Jan 24th 2009 10:32AM
So THAT's what I stepped in...

i'd be fine with gnome punting if we could get OTHER race based achievements, or even better ANTI-achievments.
like for making certain class race combos, "shadows of undeath" the description would be something along the lines of "yet another undead rogue, fantastic choice!" or for stupid names like naming your tauren anything to do with milk or cows.

Perhaps the achievement could be called "Rolled to be Cheap"

Just the other night my friend came up with the achievement "Stay awhile and listen" It is if you get loremaster without having instant quest text on
Oteo Jan 24th 2009 11:46AM
Why? I have instant quest text on, but I still read the full quest description... it's just that without instant quest text on, the game writes out the text far slower than I can read it. It gets frustrating to wait, like watching a video on YouTube where it's not loading faster than the rate at which you're watching.
Shade Jan 24th 2009 1:36PM
I have instant quest text turned on, and loremaster. I don't have instant quest text on because I don't read the quests, I have it turned on because I literally read so fast that waiting for the quest text to get to the next line when fading in is extraordinarily annoying.
Amaxe Jan 24th 2009 7:01PM
So does it have to stay on, or could you say switch it on 1 quest before achieving it?
CJ Jan 25th 2009 3:48AM
I'm calling Bull&^$# on this one, a quick search on WoWhead of simply the word "stay" comes up with nothing achievement related at all.

Really? Did you read the post?
Really?

I'd really love to see class achievements.
something like "Spell Reflect 10 Instant Cast Spells" for warriors. They could call it "How do you like it?"
Or "Drain 100 souls of enemy players" for 'locks. Which could be called something along the lines of "Thanks for that!"
It would be really cool. Of course some PvE oriented ones would be neat as well :)

All your soul are belong to me!
Your soul is mine now, baby!
Eversor Jan 24th 2009 9:34AM
That achievement to suck out 100 player souls should be named "Play the best song in the world!"
Janoi Jan 24th 2009 9:42AM
"Drain 100 souls of enemy players" for 'locks
better name it "your soul is mine" in honor to MK
Nizari Jan 24th 2009 12:59PM
The achievement should be, spell reflect a PoM/Pyro in a battleground.
Mognet T Jan 24th 2009 1:15PM
There should be achievements for getting rare items for your class: such as a Mage that learned Polymorph: Turtle from the tome in ZG. In fact, it should be called: "I like turtles!"
