I think something that no one has mentioned yet, except Matt in the actual post, flash heal is faster, therefor reducing the chance that the other healer is going to snipe heal your targets.
Many a times back in T5 content, the 2 paladins were always sniping my targets, making the majority of my heals useless overhealing and making me look like a terrible healer.
I dont know if this is still happening or not, but I think it is still a reason why we are using the faster heals.
