Vinicius O. E. asked...
What happened to the dance studios?
This is something that got hit with the delaybat, because they never worked out a system they were satisfied with. It's still something we'll supposedly see someday, but it's one of those things they want to perfect before they release it. I imagine it'll be a long time before we see it, but hopefully it'll actually show up one day.
h8rain asked...
Any suggestions for a bear tank that has given up for right now, and wants to go moonkin? I have a holy priest healer, so not sure if I want another healer. I have always passed on caster gear, so I would literally be starting from scratch. I have the worst dice in the game, so buying stuff is probably better. I do have quite a few badges as well (60ish).
Allison Robert (who is becoming a familiar name in this column) recently finished up her Moonkin gearing guide this week. That should pretty much cover you, and has a lot of the good BOE/Badge items listed. Alternatively, just hit Wowhead and scroll through the high end BOE blues and epics that Tailoring can make in Wrath. You're probably going to end up wearing a lot of Cloth, and those items are good candidates if you want to start pumping up your +Hit. Beyond that, yeah, just check out Allison's guide. You won't regret it.
suhas asked...
Is there any lore reason why even the Alliance opposes the Scarlet Crusade?
The Scarlet Crusade is pretty friggin' crazy, and their goals aren't necessarily in line with the Alliance's own. Even before it was widely known the Crusade was being controlled by demons, the Crusade happily stabbed Alliance folk to death right alongside the Forsaken and the Horde. They are nuts. They might not have actually started that way (because there are a couple of friendly Scarlet Crusaders around), but they definitely fell into that hole. The Alliance isn't down with that. Even beyond the Demonic Taint, they've worked themselves up into such a zealous frenzy that nobody wants much to do with them.
Just read up on the Crusade on Wowwiki: They're pretty nuts. If you're not in, you're dead to them.
Ice asked...
What is the new weird portal looking beam in Un'Goro that has same model as in Sholazar Basin start? I heard its a new "get to dungeon in Ungoro" and it's about Titans or something but... any other info on that?
It's just the other half of the waygate in Sholazar. That's where it leads. You use the waygate in a quest from the Avatar of Freya, she sends you to Un'goro to pick something (avoiding spoilers on what it is for you) up to help fight off the Scourge sticking their noses into the Basin. There are no dungeons up there, just a temple and such. You only spend about five or ten minutes up there, tops. After you finish the quest, you can still use it for a quick way to southern Kalimdor, but I've no idea why you would go out of your way to use that when you can just use the portal to the Caverns of Time from Dalaran.
Ham Salad asked...
I'm a fairly new player... how much research should I put into realm activity/alliance-to-horde ratio/population when choosing a realm? What should I be looking for?
If you're looking to play on a PvP realm, it'll play a bigger factor than if you were to play on a PvE realm. A quick glance at WarcraftRealms.com's Census information wouldn't be a bad idea. The information there isn't 100% accurate, but it will give a pretty decent snapshot of what the server looks like. If you're an Alliance player in the EU, you probably wouldn't want to play on EU-Magtheridon, for example. EU-Ragnaros isn't perfectly balanced, but it's far better than EU-Magtheridon, so it'll work out fine.
Generally, you don't need to worry about it at all. PvP players might want to check realm balance a little as noted above, PvE players probably don't need to worry about it at all. Both players suffer from very extreme population imbalances, but those sorts of imbalances are very rare. 2:1, 5:1, or even 10:1 ratios are workable, if a bit inconvenient for things like Wintergrasp. When you're looking at 20:1 or 30:1 you probably don't want to roll there.

I would say faction ratios are still important to PvE as well. Someone mentioned the AH, which is a good point, but there's also the matter of finding a guild or being able to find pugs. On a server with a small number of your preferred faction, if there's only 3 or 4 guilds that raid and they're full of drama/people you don't like, you are kinda hosed for getting to do content. Also, a smaller pool of people to draw from means you probably won't get to do much instancing in the off hours, if that's a concern for you. Basically it's the same set of cons you'd get with a low pop server.

I am looking for a suggestion for a buff mod that will let me assign buffs that I should always have. I would then want it to tell me which of these buffs are no longer active or are about to expire.
Any suggestions?
Taladan Jan 25th 2009 3:56PM
CT_BuffMod will tell you when a Buff is about to expire. HealBot can show you the party/raid people (or you can configure to show only yourself) and change the bar color if some buff is missing.
But I bet there is a better solution.
Narshe Jan 25th 2009 5:37PM
google Smartbuff mod, lets you assign buffs to classes and even has templates for when raiding, in a party or soloing.
It has a message area on the screen to remind you of when to rebuff. You can move it around, change the size and font of the message, and it lets you rebuff out of combat or in combat even.
You can cast the buffs using your middle mouse scroll, keybind or a icon button the mod provides.

from my experience, the 5:1 horde:ally ratio really isn't workable on a pvp server, especially since the activity ratio also strongly favors horde. having to tun away from where you're questing as soon as horde shows up since they will always outnumber you really slows leveling down a lot. Not being able to even go to some neutral quest hubs during peak hours is also kinda ridiculous. Even on my 80, it sometimes takes me upwards of 2 hours to do the Sons of Hodir daily to kill oozes as there was never less than 8 horde in the cave. Bottom line: 5 minute rez timers for dailies isn't worth it.

What are the dragons doing to the other portals in the basement of Wyrmrest Temple?
vocenoctum Jan 25th 2009 3:46PM
I may be the only one that still cares, but I found the gnome priests from a topic a week or two ago!
Nethergarde Priests, a bunch of them are gnomes.
(I still think there's some other ones around, but just noticed the nethergardes recently.)

I keep seeing references to EU-Magtheridon, and I'm absolutely fascinated by a server with such a ridiculously unbalanced player ratio. Does anyone know how that happened? Is there some reason an insane number of Horde players are there? Did the Horde just start getting the edge and the Alliance players left for less ganky pastures, and it's gone out of control since then?
Calaana Jan 25th 2009 7:34PM
Eu-Mag houses nihilium or whatever the hell they call themselves these day. The inbalance is due to the influx of fan boys going "OMG I NED 2 JOIN U!!!". It's not a good server to use as an example for inbalancing, because the reason is out of blizzard control.
Osi Jan 25th 2009 4:22PM
Dont forget the fact that the Ghostlands server still boots everybody off every few minutes. $%^#%#$ Blizz, you should test before you release your patches!

I have a question: Who is the woman who's voice you hear in Naxxrama screaming things like "help me, save me!"?
Rictus Jan 25th 2009 6:47PM
That's supposedly Thaddius or, more precisely, some part(s) of him.
Armath Jan 25th 2009 5:10PM
What ever happened to being able to stay mounted in water? I remember that being mentioned at Blizzcon (maybe) as an upcoming change, but haven't heard much about it since then. Anybody know anything?
Phun Jan 26th 2009 8:51AM
What do the colours on the meeting stones mean? I've noticed blue, green and orange and I can't tell what the colours mean. I assume it's to do with level ranges but it seems totally arbitary.
RetPallyJil Jan 25th 2009 5:30PM
I have stopped killing SC.
Blizzard can take the associated xp and rep and jam it.
War is war, and - sadly - collateral damage happens. You say they have torture gear in their basements. Yes, they do. Now go look in the Stockades.
Yeah.
If you think about it, they've done more to fight the Scourge than either the Horde or Alliance:
Took back a chunk of Stratholme and LIVE THERE.
Took back Hearthglen
Took back Tyr's Hand
BUilt up The Scarlet Enclave
Built a fleet of ships
Built at least three more cities in Northrend
... and we're still fixing the freakin' bridge in Lakeshire.
Now think about this; you're trying to do what's right, and the ENTIRE world is out to kill you.
WE are the ones who inspired paranoia and desperation deep enough to leave them open to seeking help, no matter how dodgy and suspicious to our eyes.
That having been said:
1. Call me, Blizz; your story team needs new blood, and -
2. I'm gonna go put on my tabard now and make a brave, if suicidal, solo attack on Undercity.
SHUN THE UNBELIEVERS!
Calaana Jan 25th 2009 7:55PM
Don't foget to kill everything and everyone not wearing the scarlet crusade tabard. Those are evil don'tcha know. Yeah, even your daughter - if she wasn't evil, she could wear it. It's not like a bunch of demons could take over the scarlet administration or anything, you have to wear a tabard there.
They have a noble cause, but do it badly. http://xkcd.com/463/ explains what I mean here. If they weren't crazy, paranoid zealots, then I'd agree - but they just kill without justification, even if it is for the right reasons. I prefer my rampart killing to be done within moral sanction, myself.
Join the Argent Crusade, save the children.

Groovymarlin Jan 25th 2009 5:37PM
I have a question for you. Why does Blizzard hate priests?
Seriously.
OK, maybe I should ask, which designer and/or developer at Blizzard hates priests, and why? And how can we get that person replaced?
I have two priests over level 70, and have also leveled hunters, death knights, mages...all more fun and rewarding than those priests. There's been plenty of documentation of how other, hybrid classes such as Paladin and Druid can be more effective healers than priests, and the recent nerf to the Holy tree just makes this even more true.
Most of all though, leveling a priest is just a drag. I recently started one and even at the very lowest levels, playing a priest just plain sucks compared to other classes. This is why there's a shortage of priests - because they are no fun to play, hard and frustrating to level, and get all the blame and grief for every raid and instance that goes wrong.
We used to have a horrible tank shortage, and Bliz gave us the DK, which is ridiculously fun to level and play, and an be an effective tank. So will the next hero class be the healer that's finally fun to level and play?
Sorry to rant, but damn. I'm so depressed right now.
Vorde Jan 25th 2009 6:46PM
I'm I Mark Hunter, and despite having equal or better gear than Hunters and other DPS that I raid in, I seem to always be coming up short.
Do you have any advice?
