A true story: Frostmourne is a Hunter weapon

Ghostcrawler: "Frostmourne is a hunter weapon. True story."
Now of course Ghostcrawler was saying this to be funny, but still... the reactions are such that I had a good chuckle. Ghostcrawler posted this last Friday evening in the role forums, and we had to share; just in case you thought Frostmourne was going to be anything but a Hunter weapon.
And for those wondering, we really don't have any idea what Frostmourne will be like.
But nonetheless, we here at WoW Insider approve of all Hunter related items. Especially ones that are Hunter only.

If any paladin can use this, I will quit the game! The sword is suppose to be "unholy" so if a paladin can use it, then so should EVERY class in game.
It's more logical for a priest to use it then a paladin, as they are not only holy.
Warriors, I am not sure about, but I would not mind it.
Deathknights should be able to use it, or it would be just dumb.
Hunter are a big maybe, but if they ever let paladins use it, then hunters should be able to.

Not to nitpick Zakurax, but Arthas was a Paladin before he was a Death Knight...
And I'm pretty sure after all of the corrupted looking purple gear I've been getting out of Naxx, Blizzard intends to give pallies a fair shot at personal corruption as well.

It should be a pally/ war/ DK wep. I might respec ret just for frostmourne.

if the specs match what hunters can use, and it's not ideally suited to any other class what's to stop a hunter, or anyone else rolling for it?
honestly, some classes really do have their helms firmly lodged up their asses sometimes.

It's a shammy weapon! Ner'zhul was a shaman and he uses it... SHAMAN ONLY.

Yet its Arthas actually wielding it, so certainly Paladin/DK weapon.
No doubt there will be no class restrictions on it anyway, even if its a total waste on hunters. =p

I know I would have loved to have DW the Warglaves... oh what? Nawwww, Swords? No Shaman love? And Bladefist's weapon was a third rate Heroic Blue? NAW.
Shaman weapon problems could be solved in 5 seconds - just let us use swords. I dig the lore reasons why we can't, but if they are going to make only 5 different One-hand Axes, Fist Weapons or Maces, give us the option.

Well considering the legendary bow wasn't hunter only and it was open game for any other bow wielding class, Frostmourne should be open season for any class that can use it.

Wait, what lore reason could possibly preclude a Shaman from using swords? Sharp things frighten them?

Actually, if you look at your game manual, you will see some weapons and shields that have very "Frostmourne-ish" motifs.
I think we may not have the sword itself but rather a way to get weapons imbued with its stats and look.
And hopefully some flavor text. ^_^

Bah.. Frostmourne will be a caster weapon.
Ranged DPS (i.e. Huntards) got Thori'dal, the Stars' Fury in Sunwell. Melee DPS got the Warglaives of Azzinoth, Druids got Atiesh, Greatstaff of the Guardian and tanks got Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker.
Its time for a pure caster legendary weapon. Besides, the only weapon a huntard needs is (to get hit with) the nerf bat.

Actually, Atiesh had 4 versions: Druid, Mage, Priest and Warlock.

But yes, Frostmourne should be a Paladin/Mage/Warlock caster weapon. Arthas was a paladin, Ner'zhul became an warlock (yes, before all that was a shaman but shamans can't wield swords ^^) and for mages... err... humm... heee.... FROSTmourne
