I probably appear to be the silent bob type because I'm too busy typing in gchat. I certainly prefer groups that are social. But I have to admit that when the most talkative person is causing the most problems in a group (like 500dps in heroics type of problems) their talking tends to grate me the wrong way more than help.

Ever had fun in a group despite the fact that you keep wiping? You're not going to get that when everyone is quiet.
