Hauru on Area 52 sends us this
WoW-related license plate -- he says that he and his girlfriend were at BlizzCon last year (he can apparently be
seen in our badge pickup gallery, but did you come to
the WoW Insider Meetup?) and bought a Blizzard license plate frame. But when he got home, he realized he didn't have an epic enough license plate, so a quick trip to the DMV later, that situation was remedied. Very nice, we like it.
We've added Hauru's pic into our license plate gallery, which you can browse through below. Seen a great
World of Warcraft-related piece of car art or license plate? Send it in to
our tips line, and you might see it posted here soon.

Aren't custom plates like...200 dollars?
Keyra Jan 28th 2009 1:01AM
It depends on the state. In California, the generic plates are $41.00 with a $30.00 annual renewal fee. If you want some of the other plate styles, they range from $50.00 with a $40.00 renewal to $90.00 with a $70.00 renewal.
They vary with other states - some substantially more, some around the same, some lower.

In my state, custom plates are cheap... but since when can you get a HEART?!?!
Must be another state thing...

California has a few symbols you can use on a certain personalized plate. Have fun here to make up plates and/or see what's available.

At Blizzcon, a friend and I spotted a car in front of the Anaheim Marriot with a license plate that said, "AFK IRL." I thought that was pretty cute. :)

This rivals the fat guy who had the Zune logo tattooed on his shoulder for extreme lameness; guys, it's not cool, just stop it.

Says you....
I would love to have a custom plate. Too expensive here. I think it is one of those ultimate forms of expression. YOu get to show you belong to something bigger then yourself and you know that chances are that only fellow wow players will uderstand the plate and why you have it

They're all gonna laugh at you!!!!

I was stuck behind a "FROSTFYR" the other day in traffic. I wanted to ask if it was their spec, but never got the chance

I saw a license plate in San Francisco on a minivan that Said "WoW Grl" and the holder said my other car is a epic mount
Cyrus Jan 27th 2009 5:01PM
Heh, I'm practically certain that there's at least one more WoW-themed vanity plate out there. Why am I certain? Because of that fifth one, "OMG LAWL." I'll bet that car owner would have taken "OMG LOL" if they possibly could, which means it must already be taken.

Okay so...
I'm a huge car guy along with a wow fan, and to me, mixing them is just a horrible blasphemy, and I have seen horrible blasphemy on cars (I have seen a Honda Accord with a big NISMO sticker on the windshield). Watching a car drive by with a wow plate just makes me question their sanity. I don't go running around wow with my char named "plymouthlaser" or "4g63pwnage" or "DSMkicksass" , nor will i run around with my laser with a wow plate. Both belong in their separate worlds, and if you want to do something cool, get a set of different plates. I have a set of old blue and gold california plates I want to put on something, and that would be much cooler and unique, especially where I live.
I can appreciate the need to express yourself, but do it with some taste. The plate would be cool with a custom paint job and some vinyls, to let everyone know you play wow. But just a licence plate? Go all out or not at all I say. However, I would pay good money to see a car with a wow paint job run 10's on the drag strip! :D And please, do it with something cool, not a Hyundai Accent or something like that.... ick.
Joe Jan 27th 2009 5:40PM
"do it with something cool, not a Hyundai Accent or something like that.... ick."
something cool like a Plymouth Laser?
Bigelow Jan 27th 2009 6:19PM
Yes exactly, a 1992 red Plymouth Laser RS Turbo AWD, 6 bolt 4G63 and a 4 bolt rear end :D, car ran from the factory, 13 sec quarters. Head to the drag strip with "wownoob" or "2leet4u" :P. Yea I won't be mocked there......
I actually saw a Hyundai Accent with a sticker on the back window above the guys head that gave his char's name and guild. I couldn't stop laughing. BTW if you are reading this guy, you need to fix your right tail light.
