Many free US character transfers opened
Good evening, US WoW players. I've just received a priority message from Zarhym, your favorite floating skull: many North American PvP, RP, and RP-PvP realms now have transfers available! The following transfers are scheduled to run until Tuesday, February 3, at 5:00 PST:
- Source A (PvP): Azgalor, Bloodscalp (Horde transfers only), Cho'gall (Horde transfers only), Crushridge, Dark Iron, Darkspear, Deathwing, Drak'Tharon, Dunemaul, Firetree, Gorefiend, Nathrezim, Shadowmoon, Smolderthorn, Spinebreaker, Stormscale, Tortheldrin, WildHammer
- Destination A (PvP): Malorne, Scilla
- Source B (RP): Argent Dawn, Cenarion Circle, Earthen Ring, Feathermoon, Moon Guard, Scarlet Crusade, Shadow Council
- Destination B (RP): Wyrmrest Accord
- Source C (RP-PvP): Maelstrom, Twisting Nether
- Destination C: Scilla (PvP), Wyrmrest Accord (RP)
Hey, that includes my own native realm, Shadow Council. But I'm never moving; I love that place.
In addition, the following PvE transfers will be enabled this Thursday, January 29, at 6 PM PST, and are scheduled to run until Monday, February 2, at 6 PM PST:
- Source D (PvE): Arygos, Alestrasza, Shadowsong, Eonar, Hyjal
- Destination D (PvE): Winterhoof
As ever, transfers may close early if the desired population levels are reached, so go ahead and transfer early if you intend to do it.

oh mai gawd it's like the first time in 2 years that Cenarion Circle has had free transfers.
I would actually transfer, if I could get 6 or 7 people on my friends list to go with me. But, probly not.

Still nothing on Misha... the constantly broken neglected bear.
/cry

never a transfer off of Misha. That servers been broken for a while and it appears that Blizzard doesn't care that we don't get the same level of service as other realms.
A whole week went by that the server was unplayable, in addition to all the other problems the patch brought with it a week afterwards, and still, nobody from Blizzard has taken the time to address the issue, nor have any days of credit been issued.
and I don't know about other realms, but the 800 latency in northrend instances is ridiculous.

It's never Kael'thas....dangit.

What's wrong with KT?
Dave Jan 27th 2009 8:42PM
that is a very disappointing amount of transfer servers to Winterhoof.
We could use more people for sure. It's not bad, but we could definitely use more quality daytime players so it's not empty until primetime.
Then again, I suspect most people who play in the daytime aren't bothered by queues if they're not on at night... so they never really know how crappy their realm may be. Hrmph.

"Hey, that includes my own native realm, Shadow Council. But I'm never moving; I love that place. "
Seriously? I rolled a DK there since a friend refuses to come to Moon Guard, and it's...one of the deadest servers I've ever seen. Since joining there I don't think I've seen a single instance of rp even in Goldshire, let alone anywhere actually reputable.

I agree that our RP scene isn't the easiest to find, but I've been there for years, and have built up enough friends (not to mention beloved guildmates) that it would be sad for me to play anywhere else.
There is some great RP going on in certain circles, you just need to know where to look (I don't know off the top of my head).

For RP hotspots A-side, try the Golden Leaf Tavern in the Park in Stormwind. It's been running fairly regularly for about the last three years. (MTWF 7:30-9:30 ST). Also take a look at rp-haven.com where a lot of the more active RPers post.

Depending on your faction, RP style is different. Horde side tends to be more free form with events (University of Kalimdor/Phials/etc) and individual-based RP, while Alliance tends to gravitate more towards in-guild based RP. Of course, Alliance side has the Spirit Tavern and the Golden Leaf running on a regular basis in Stormwind.
Goldshire, however, is really not the ideal place to find RP mainly because of its reputation.
I have been on Shadow Council since I first started playing, have an amazing guild, find tons of RP when I want it...I suspect it might be hard for new folks. If you are serious about getting into the RP side of ShC, it can't hurt to poke your head into rp-haven.com and see what's going on or find a guild meeting you can visit.
Kia Jan 28th 2009 1:53PM
Thanks, I'll keep that all in mind. I doubt I'll be leaving MG any time soon, but at least it'll give me incentive to play with my equally stubborn ShC friend. xD

STILL no transfers for Bronzebeard? How many long queues do we have to wait through to get some transfers...ugh.
malek Jan 27th 2009 9:23PM
Curiously, Tortheldrin was on the receiving side a couple weeks ago. Anybody else notice realms with the zero to queue to transfer trend?
Gruuek Jan 27th 2009 9:42PM
Horde or Alliance on Shadow Council?
Eliah Hecht Jan 27th 2009 9:43PM
Alliance, although I hear the Horde side is quite pleasant as well.
Gruuek Jan 28th 2009 1:13AM
I'm on the Horde side. Name is Gruuek, in the guild Necrosis.
Trustee of Lothar Jan 27th 2009 10:05PM
Man, why is Lothar, aka the forgotten realm, never on the transfer list. One of the oldest servers, pretty reliably queued up during primetime, yet never a free transfer.
Not that I'd leave... too many friends on the server and I doubt they'd move, but the point being I want some other people to leave so I don't have to wait 25 minutes during primetime.
Mugutu Jan 27th 2009 10:19PM
There's your answer - the queue is only 25 minutes. Try hour-long queues on servers like Aggramar.
kw Jan 27th 2009 10:17PM
No kidding. I play on Lothar also. Right now, I just tried to log in and hit a 330 queue.
We did have free transfers a while ago, and the realm was locked.. but it's unlocked now, and the queues continue to grow =(
Chuck Jan 27th 2009 10:30PM
Thank god they're getting people off of Wildhammer.
