Official 3.0.8.9506 patch notes
Nethaera has posted the official "patch notes" for patch 3.0.8.9506/3.0.8a today. They are listed in their entirety after the break. These notes mirror what Ghostcrawler said in a series of posts last night. I imagine that these patch notes could be updated at some future time, listing more bug fixes if they're present. So you'll probably want to check back later and see if that's the case.
If you're looking for a download mirror for the patch files, check out our listing.
Bug Fixes
- General
- Human females Helms will no longer lift off the character's head during a special 2H animation or during a HoldRifle animation.
- Death Knights
- Howling Blast : The 5 second cooldown will now display correctly.
- Hunters
- All Hunter aspects are no longer on the global cooldown that is shared with other Hunter abilities. All hunter aspects are now on a separate 1 second cooldown.
- Warlocks
- Ritual of Summoning no longer has a 2 minute cooldown and will now function as intended.

Terrokar bird quest has long been fixed. I had the pet well before I entered Northrend.

I would just like my pets auto cast abilities fixed

For serious. It is so buggy! It isn't even dependably bugged.
Clarick Jan 27th 2009 3:28PM
YES! PLEASE!! FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THINGS SACRED!!! Fix the damn autocast issue. A GM told me it would be addressed with last weeks patch and I log in today and hearth to Dalaran and there is kitty with prowl back on....

I thought Howling Blast was buffed in 3.0.8 to have no cooldown, but that the fact that it had a 5s CD was a bug.
So the fix is to make the CD display?
Huh?
Candina@WH Jan 27th 2009 2:18PM
No, I think it was intended to have a 1 sec CD, but got an non-displaying 5 sec cool down.
srhall Jan 27th 2009 2:41PM
I guess the wording of the patch note is what's irking me. Being on a 1-sec global CD makes sense, but saying "The 5 second cooldown will now display correctly," means that the tooltip (etc.) will now show 5 seconds of CD.
That's a relatively unequivocal way of saying that HB is on a 5 sec CD.

HB has a CD. They tested it in the ptr with no cd but it was op. People need to understand that the ptr does not mean that something will go live.
srhall Jan 27th 2009 2:55PM
Then the patch notes for 3.0.8 are incorrect. They say that the CD was removed.
I have now searched the Warcraft forums and have found the blue posts stating what you mentioned, otool. I hadn't seen them.
And yes, I understand that PTR changes sometimes don't make it to live. You need to understand that I was going off the official 3.0.8 notes. Since they obviously changed their minds before the patch went live, I guess it was too hard for them to edit the patch notes.

when I logged in after installing the patch (the launcher and patch downloader are integrated now...pretty cool), about half of my chat, interface, quest and keybindings were reset to the default
spent about half my lunch break fixing it :/ Not sure if it was a mod being wonky or the patch.

No mention of the Mage changes to Arcane spells that has the official forums blazing at the moment? There seems to have been a huge nerf to the Glyph of Arcane Blast although the theorycrafters are having a heck of a time coming to grips with exactly what the changes are and if they are bugged or working as intended. Also a fix to the supposed bug that allowed Arcane Barrage to benefit from the Arcane Blast stacked buff following a castin of Arcane Missles has gone through.

So Death Knights and Paladins are still over-powered?
(talking about their ability to solo group quests...)
--
A sad rogue who can't find enough people to do those #!? group quests in Icecrown.
SimpleSurvival Jan 27th 2009 2:23PM
Is it all paladins?
I thought prot pallies were the only ones that were working miracles on the group quests (I did the first 3 anguish quests solo). Its not too hard to SoW/JoW your target, swap to concentration and pop a big heal when necessary... The early group quests, I was lvling prot in my holy gear so I wasn't going oom (BC prot gear wasn't adapted well enough to 3.0 yet) a 10k Holy light typically topped my lvling pally off from 25%. For the later ones, I had a full enough prot set, but I went straight through and was doing group quests 3 lvls under me by that time.
Not sure about DKs... haven't played one yet... is it the DPS specced ones too? What mechanic do they exploit to let them do it... I don't think they could manage anything more than a 2m or 3m quest by virtue of sheer dps and mitigation

Thanks a lot, my irony meter exploded and now my eyebrows are singed
Geoff Jan 27th 2009 5:38PM
I'll sympathise. As a rogue group quests that require killing 1 or 2 elite mobs are entirely possible. It's those that come with lots of adds or waves of mobs that are very difficult as a rogue. But yeah. They do a lot better at group quests than most classes :)

This is how Blizz should do patches from now on...
Leave the big ones for new content, and do a few bug fixes and game tweaks every Tuesday.
Anyway...when they say working as intended, did they mean they removed the cooldown and left it as the old way (1 shard, one summon), or finally got the spell the work the new way (1 shard, one meeting stone)
Skaddoosh Jan 27th 2009 2:20PM
QQ TT tt however you want to say it, things always get worse before they get better - people need to learn a little patience.
gg thx
Aesten Jan 27th 2009 2:27PM
From my VERY recent experience, tooltip still sez 2min CD, and says NOTHING about a meeting stone. Lock ran out of shards, so cant tell if it's just a tooltip bug for the CD.........
crsh Jan 27th 2009 3:51PM
They better hold off on the dance studio and dual specs for now, I wouldn't want either to cause a server shutdown every time someone uses them.
Pandemicus Jan 27th 2009 2:41PM
Summoning is still broken...
