Ritual of Summoning is actually still broken [Updated]
The article's image expresses how I, and I'm sure many others, feel about this.
Ghostcrawler posted last night that Ritual of Summoning would be fixed today. Nethaera posted small, but important, patch notes saying that it had been fixed. "Ritual of Summoning no longer has a 2 minute cooldown and will now function as intended."
However people are reporting that it still isn't working correctly.
Ghostcrawler now comes out and says that it'll be fixed sometime later today. "We are still on target to get this fixed today (Tue, Jan 27). I did not mean to imply that it would be fixed when the servers came back up."
Left hand, let me introduce you to right hand. Right hand says things like "We'll fix this today." Left hand says things like "These are the patch notes for this patch, which is now live." Right hand should tell left hand that not everything is live just yet, and update the patch notes accordingly.
Now that I got my tenses all screwed up, we'll update when Ritual of Summoning actually is fixed.
Update: It is now fixed, for real this time.

I'd settle for being able to get into any instances...half an hour trying to get into them tonight with 'additional instances cannot be launched' messages...

Seriously Blizzard, run some damn Quality Assurance tests on your software. And nobody has the right at this point to say "You don't understand how complex these systems can be! Stop giving Blizzard a hard time."
Your patch notes say it is fixed. Before you release it to your customers you think that you could verify that what you say is true? Not like it takes a whole lot to test the damn spell.
It's now 100% obvious that WoW is being put on the back burner in the Blizzard project management queue. I don't even play a Warlock and I'm offended by this. Backtracking in business is the sign of a struggling company. Activision may or may not be the cause of this, but whatever changes happened in the past few months need to be undone... now.

Absolutely. Complexity can only demonstrate the need for what you said - it cannot justify making a complete mess of it. Repeatedly.
If 3.0.8 wasn't a wake-up call for Blizz's development, testing & QA process, then this had better be.
I know people will shoot this down in flames - but this is how the demise of WoW will start. I'm not saying it's happening now - I'm saying what we're seeing now, will be the start of the end. Getting too many things wrong, in too public a way, such that a significant number of people start losing their enjoyment of the game, and many others start getting the perception (real or otherwise) that Blizzard has lost their ability to continue the WoW we once knew. Snowball, start rolling - less players, less income, more cost-cutting, less progress, worse quality...people are already leaving. Sure, the numbers are small, but they won't stay small if Blizzard continues like this.
What management, at all levels, now need to do is sit down and work out exactly how this disaster happened, and why. Then fix it. Fix it so it CANNOT happen again without someone getting fired for blatant incompetence. So that this snowball does NOT keep rolling and getting bigger.
We're on the slope, and it's slippery. It will be up to Blizzard whether we start sliding down it, and how far and how fast...

SOOOOOOO the servers are up EARLY for a change, on a patch day ( all be it a small one) and you still XXXXX...
one minor bug that they have said they will fix TODAY and every one is still moaning more than a high paid hooker?
give them a break, and just say ur lucky that they got the servers back up instead of leaving them down and saying XXXXX

Class QQ Madlibs!
"Blizz needs to get their [noun] together! [noun] is the worst class because of the nerf to [noun]. It's just [adverb] to [verb] now.
I'm going to play [proper noun]. Way to [verb] Blizz."
Adam Holisky Jan 27th 2009 3:22PM
Ha!
Mind if I use this idea for something, James?
Thanks,
Adam.

Haha, all yours man.

New bug reported:
Ritual of Summoning has a 24 hour cooldown and automatically summons your target to the bottom of the Well of Eternity and Frost Nova's you there.
thinice Jan 27th 2009 3:41PM
Being in development I know that GC is pretty much just a face for people to be mad at when some underling screws up the works.
I have to wonder what other things the 'lock' department have been screwing up =[
At any rate, it's been extremely dishearting for this patch to be so, horrible. It took them a -week- to get 4 , er ... 3 bug fixes out to us?
Fail. I for one, blame Activision.
rosencratz Jan 28th 2009 7:38AM
Where were you when it took months for a bug fix to be patched in?
1 week is nothing, you guys have no idea how good you have it these days. I hope they fix all bugs in as much time in future tbh.
Karnexus Jan 27th 2009 3:42PM
This IS fixed. It was apparently a two part fix according to Neth. The first part was the patch we download the second part was a hot fix.
dg Jan 27th 2009 3:52PM
Are these patch notes the same as last weeks? It seems like I have read them already.
crsh Jan 27th 2009 3:56PM
I don't know whether to laugh or cry, we're getting far from the occasionnal slip that happens every now and then, things are seriously screwed up with their QA dept.
Yay Activision merger?
Leviathon Jan 27th 2009 3:59PM
It works now so you can stop your crying.
Patrick B Jan 27th 2009 4:03PM
OMG another trolling moron.

"Please be aware of the following:
The Warlock Ritual of Summoning was corrected in two stages. The first stage you patched with 3.0.8a and the second stage was applied via a hotfix. It should now be functioning correctly. Please feel free to let us know if there are any further issues."
Patrick B Jan 27th 2009 4:05PM
Yay! I'll be sure to check the forums for every change that was listed as fixed in a patch to see when part b will be out. lol
Valis Jan 27th 2009 4:11PM
Interesting side not, last night my succulent clam meat was still not autostacking. I COULD shuck the calms while mounted though, so there has at least been some forward progress on the game crippling and ongoing clam issues.
Hokuto Jan 27th 2009 4:16PM
Uhm... It's working, just did an heroic with one of our locks and the "summoning stone" appeared and worked as intended.
It's pretty cool too.
supersaint Jan 27th 2009 4:42PM
Ghostcrawler: "Just because it says it's fixed in the patch notes doesn't mean it's really fixed. You people take things I say too literally."
Geez Louise.....
