IDK where all the crying about our supposed "lackluster dps" is coming from--there are about 6 talent builds that can consistently put out very competitive numbers. If you can't be bothered to get gear or to check out EJ don't cry that you can't faceroll to the top of the meters. I usually top the meters but now I have to actually TRY--not like it used to be, and I actually appreciate it. I used to hate my lock for the fact that early on I wasn't learning much of anything, especially with the old destro-raid build. Locks aren't really meant to be the pew-pew. With the new changes to the other classes now I can actually have fun competing with other classes. If I get beaten out by someone, it's OK--I don't have to top the meter, if the bosses go down and the loot drops that's all I really care about--my epeen doesn't need the massage.Aff has a very hard rotation to get right--destro has some weird issues there as well--but the 0/41/30 felguard build is the new "pew pew' and if you can't get good numbers something is very wrong between the keyboard and chair. We have at the very minimum 3 different (and I could argue as many as 6) viable playstyles in PVE. If you enjoy complexity roll Aff. If you want to make things go boom boom very fast play Destro or a mix of Demo/Destro. To DOT or not to DOT is actually a real question right now. Gear is much more important than it used to be. A missed cast on a boss fight sees real drops in DPS numbers--BIG drops at that. Even deciding which pet to summon can be an ordeal--if you didn't notice pet DPS got some big changes (strong proof is out right now from WWS parses is that the forgotten succy has the edge on the puppy and the infernal in a boss fight--who would have guessed?) The Doomguard is being used for more than a joke. Infernals are actually viable on the last part of a boss fight. These are all some major changes that require more than pressing the same buttons over and over to put up big numbers. People are spending thousands of gold trying out new specs and rotations--if you can't be bothered to at least inform yourself do you really deserve that raid invitation you want to QQ about?PVP on the other hand is where we seriously need help--we're toast with any decent melee class, especially rogues, and I have no idea how you'd even begin to fix it. Some changes to the teleport would be nice (let it work even stunned and you'd see some dead rogues for sure). Beyond that I got nothing. My focus is PVE so I'm not going to cry too much about this, but if you don't raid or even instance and enjoy PVP I would sympathize with you much much more. Crying about damage meters right now? Not so much. I'm not going to be crass and say L2P but maybe check out some of the class forums and examine what you're doing. Try new stuff. Hit up a practice dummy for a bit. Mess with your rotation. People were laughing when the idea of summoning a doomguard or an infernal were tossed around; lo and behold they're tops outside a felguard right now in terms of DPS. It's that "thinking outside the box" that leads to good success in this game. EJ is a good starting point--not a lot of conjecture, more the hard numbers and PROVEN tactics--a parse isn't really open for a lot of debate. Opinion doesn't count for much, either, whether that's good or bad I'll leave to you. It's a whole lot of dry reading but if this stuff is important to you you'll slog through it. My DPS has tripled with very few gear upgrades; I took suggestions and made changes to my play style. Just sayin'.
