Meeting Stones broken in the EU
We received a couple of reports of meeting stones not working on EU realms earlier today, and it was later confirmed by Blizzard themselves. According to the EU login screen, meeting stones are not working and it'll require a maintenance period to get them up and running again. That's very, very interesting considering the stones are working just fine in the US (I just tested to make sure), and it might have something to do with the fact that the EU patch is roughly twice the size of its US counterpart, according to a couple of people following our Twitter feed. Knowing very little about how these things work, my initial assumption was that the size difference was due to extra weight on the patch for localization purposes, but that might not be the case. It's possible Europe just received a few changes that we hadn't yet, and that's what's causing this. Or maybe not. We don't really know, and anymore speculation on my part would just make me look pretty silly considering I know so little about the process.
We may not know what caused the issue, but we do know one thing: Your party will need to hoof it to their dungeons for awhile, old school style.
Update: It appears the meeting stones are now fixed, and didn't require a restart or maintenance period, either! Hooray!

HAH so no, can you summon me while I am farming.
Which translate, to I am to lazy to fly to the instance. LOL

Gah, don't get me started on that.
I've been able to hearth to Dalaran, run through a portal to the closest capital city to my destination, hop on a griffon, and otherwise fly or run to the meeting place while people are still whining about needing a summon.
Some people get pissy about it, too. "There's a lock, why can't he summon me?" Because his job in life is not to ferry lazy crybabies from raid to raid? Because he might want to save his shards for more useful purpose, like actually casting spells during the raid?

Summoning still appears to be broken on EU realms as well; we can use the Warlock's summoning portal, but only for people close-by. I can't confirm the range with any degree of accuracy, but we were able to summon from Dalaran -> Wintergrasp, but not Nagrand -> Wintergrasp.

At the end of all this, I want a "I survived the -09 mayhem" button.

Im fairly sure the EU patch was bigger because its in more than just one language.

The US stones were broken for a while last week. How strange.

I love it!
So now we can all refer to the EU Realms as the Beta Realms.
seems like a slow news day, I think we should go full on conspiracy mode.

No form of summoning works at the moment, unless it's at very close range. Have Blizz actually said -why- it's been disabled? Is it that exploit again, or some new form of glitch?
Miko Jan 28th 2009 1:38PM
OMG! This means no pugs will happen! Everyone will be waiting for the summons to come but they never do.
Tumleren Jan 28th 2009 1:49PM
So that's why...
I was wondering this morning about the size of the patch, since I could see you spoke about it being 6-7 MB and the one i downloaded was 13.x MB
Oh well, no biggie for lvl 80s, people just have to wake up before a raid now i guess and fly manually or actually use the FPs :O

"Or maybe not. We don't really know, and anymore speculation on my part would just make me look pretty silly considering I know so little about the process."
Kinda makes me wish more people were as smart as this.

I'm wondering if this will happen on the US side. I noticed last night while running a few instances (after our OS run decided to lag it up Naxx style) that when using the summoning stone the portals had a weird habit of spawning inside th summoning stone, like halfway in. our PuG feral druid had to hop up and down and wound up on top of the AN stone for a sec. I guess we'll see.

I wonder what I'm paying Blizzard for.
You all know that Blizzard doesn't pay attention to Eu forums. There are no blue posts forums except for 2-years old stickies. Your thread has a chance of blue post if it is lulz thread (funny reply) or is locked (locking reply). There was an incident some time ago, when Eu thread about some bug haven't got a blue reply for 4 days, then someone reposted it on US forums and blue reply was there in 2 hours.
Now they use Eu realms as beta realms.
Dear Blizzard, I do not want to know how you are developing game. I do not want to be a slave* beta tester. I want to play game and have a support and feedback from you - I am paying you for this, if you didn't notice yet.
*slave - a person legally owned by another for whom he or she has to work without freedom, pay, or rights. While you may argue about "own" part, Eu players "work without freedom, pay, or rights" as Blizzard beta testers.
Kolo Jan 28th 2009 3:31PM
This is so true. I'm thinking of making a US account just for forums, so I can get a damn reply.
fauxbo Jan 28th 2009 5:31PM
Nice troll. I'll bite.
If you consider playing a sometimes buggy wow = slavery.
Stop.
Stop now.
rosencratz Jan 29th 2009 7:16AM
Actually there was a time when the EU forums had far far more blue posts and anturally the US forum goers spent all day bitching and moaning about it.
TBH though i don't care where we get feedback the fact we're getting it these days in the way we are is far far better than it has been.
