Breakfast Topic: So far, so good?
Wow. It's already the end of January. Time flies by so fast that one twelfth of 2009 is already finished. Now would probably a good time as any to ask how you've done so far in Wrath of the Lich King. I'm rather proud that our little guild has downed 25-man Malygos -- I should probably tell Mike to give us a shoutout on Guildwatch -- and that the only thing left for us to do right now is Sartharion with three drakes. Sure, we didn't finish it all in an unimaginable three days, but I'm very happy nonetheless. On a personal note, my wife gave me a Nobles Deck, so I'm looking forward to turning that in for my Darkmoon Card: Greatness this week. It should go rather well with a pretty little hacking thing I got last week. On the other hand, I've neglected my Shaman, who's sitting lonely at Level 70 in Warsong Hold. The only nice thing is that his Engineering is almost maxed out, so I should have no problem learning that Schematic: Mechano-hog when the time comes. I just need to force my lazy butt to level him. My Hunter has yet to step foot in Northrend, and I don't think I've ever logged my Death Knight past the initial leveling experience. My Warlock finally got four pieces of Plagueheart, so I'll try out how that 4-piece bonus works out. Maybe on Loken later, since I've still got some backlogged quests with those happy little giants.
Overall, I guess it's been a pretty good start of the year. I've gotten a bit of gear on some characters, decent progression in the endgame, and even enjoyed some success in my favorite thing to do, PvP. How about you? It's the end of January, how's your game coming along so far? Have you leveled more than one character to 80? Ventured into Naxxramas? Any Achievement is notable, even for seasonal things like getting the Elder title. In a game that rewards all our varied playstyles, I'm curious to know how everyone's doing so far.

My guild is just chugging through 25 man Naxx. It seems we're behind the curve but its nice to go at our own speed instead of trying to keep up with everyone else.

I've focused on my Death Knight to the exclusion of all my other toons and don't miss the rest.
I am also enjoying the meta game more than ever and am closing in on my 100th post on my death knight blog at http://omenscourge.blogspot.com

Great blog! Keep it up! I don't have a serious Death Knight, but you've got some interesting stuff in there. Thanks for reading!

I don't have a single character above 75 yet.
I have, however, gotten a ton of great RP in, especially with my Death Knight and my Paladin.

Same.
Well, not so much the rp thing... but my highest char is 74. Instead of cruising through wrath to 80 on one of the three 70's i already had, i levelled another one to 70 instead. And i just keep levelling other chars. In terms of progressing through wrath, i guess i've failed, but i've been enjoying myself greatly, so... success! :)

I am Chef Mukter. I've yet to see another on my server and it makes me smile every time someone comments on it.

My guild is working on Heroic Naxx and downing Maly in EoE. Personally, my druid is 3 pieces away from being all-epic (not counting my own Nobles Deck which also pending turn-in at the Faire), and my main alt mage is a couple of bars away from 77 and cold weather flying. Thank the new Arcane spec for getting the mage to where he is now. :) Still not exalted with SoH on my main, I've been reduced to doing just Thrusting Hodir's Spear among the 6 dailies. Gotten really bored with the rest. Got heirloom shoulders for my level 46 shammy and hunter (and plan to let my warrior, DK and pally use them too), but haven't really levelled either seriously.

So far so good. Just got Elder title yesterday (although I'm not going to use it, just going for that 310 drake)
Osi Jan 31st 2009 10:14AM
Drake is same speed as other regular epic flying speed. Blizz nerfed the 310 speed mounts except for that ashes of whatever.
lightning4 Jan 31st 2009 1:44PM
Source?
Wowhead's information on the violet, plagued, and black proto drakes, and all glatiator mounts is unchanged. They are all still 310%

I've leveled 2 characters to 80 so far, and enjoyed the experience. Our guild has killed everything from Naxx to 10 man 3d Sarth and right now we're (lazily) gearin up alts and waiting for Ulduar. Hopefully it will come soon, as people have started to slack/get bored/disappear.
Raiding has been easy so far (with the exception of 10man 3drake Sartharion), but that's okay, as long as 3.1 will bring more challenging things.
Lorewise WOTLK has been great, very atmospheric. Certainly a LOT better than anything in TBC. I've been wondering "how they can top this in the next expansion", and it's going to be hard for sure.

Really? Using "retarded" as anything else than describing someone with a serious mental disorder? I am deeply offended by the insensitivity of that comment.
To anyone who wants to use the "well, it used to mean low IQ" argument-- People also used to thing lobotomy operations were a good idea, the earth was flat, and the earth was held up by a giant man.
ancalimon Feb 1st 2009 1:06PM
Are you kidding? Using the word "retarded" in the context that you are implying is MUCH more offensive than the way it is used today. In this case, Zach is using it to describe how slow his raiding group is moving through the content (not that theres anything wrong with where they are :P), not to describe someones dissability. The way you use it is just as offensive as many racial slurs.
Please know what you are talking about before you post.

Why are people so deeply offended by insensitivity these days? Toughen up dude.

Quit being such a wuss.

Unfortunately, I am not where I'd like to be. The guild I was in, just as we were making headway thru Naxx, and working towards a second group and 25-mans imploded. Seeing as my server is a bit, oh how do you say backwaterish, there aren't even a whole lot of guilds who've cleared all content (excluding Sarth-3 which only 2 guilds have done so far). Now I am hunting for another guild to raid with, that fits my ultra confining work schedule. I'm behind where I'd like to be, and where half my friends are. Since this is my first real shot at progression from the get go, I am looking at things assessing whether to stay or head for a more populated/better server. I've primarily focused on my shaman, and am just now getting around to leveling my priest. My original main (a druid) has been relegated to retirement and heads my up bank guild.
Kev-Dogg Jan 31st 2009 9:33AM
I've only gotten my main to 80, slowly grinding my DK to 65 (where he'll likely stay unless I get really bored). I've taken to running a low level friend through Dungeons more than anything else lately, along with getting the seasonal achievements out the way. I've done 10/25 Vault, 10 man OS, and a slew of Heroics, and I've at least stepped into everything in (including Naxx, but it was a fail PuG so I didn't step in too far..) except HoS, whic I'll make a point to get through someday.
The biggest reason why I'm not raiding with the guild on a regular basis is because I work graveyard shifts, and I'm sleeping while everyone else is doing the weekly evening Raids. Might have to find a late-night raiding guild eventualy, but for now I'm content with just being a 'casual' and helping my friends get to 80 and geared, so we can take on all the raids together.

@ancalimon
Man, you are a moron. It is in fact a scientific word used to describe a person with a serious mental disability. That's NOT offensive at all. It IS offensive when you use it in the context of slang, such as how Zach used it. I personally don't care that Zach used the word, but I you are a moron who doesn't know what you're talking about.
Thiosion Jan 31st 2009 10:16AM
@Dan
I agree with you, though the term has come into such widespread use that you're just shouting yourself hoarse trying to dissuade people from using it.
On another note, mini-nerdrage when thinking of Malygos25... my guild fails terribly at cardinal directions, and we've never reached phase two on any of the runs I've been present on, and to my knowledge, at all. Sigh.
We do have 1D Sarth down, and they did a 2D run last night that I couldn't be part of. So, we're moving towards leetness.
Cryoh Jan 31st 2009 10:47AM
@Thioson
Here's a good way for your guild to get past phase 1 of Malygos25. Have each person exercise personal responsibility while the vortex portion is occurring and eyeball where the power spark is in the sky. After everyone is dumped onto the ground, everyone run towards it, while the tank runs in the opposite direction. That way, no one eats a breath. If people are still failing at finding the spark, put a raid marker over the person with the best eye for finding the spark, so they can just follow their lead.
