Breakfast Topic: So far, so good?
Wow. It's already the end of January. Time flies by so fast that one twelfth of 2009 is already finished. Now would probably a good time as any to ask how you've done so far in Wrath of the Lich King. I'm rather proud that our little guild has downed 25-man Malygos -- I should probably tell Mike to give us a shoutout on Guildwatch -- and that the only thing left for us to do right now is Sartharion with three drakes. Sure, we didn't finish it all in an unimaginable three days, but I'm very happy nonetheless. On a personal note, my wife gave me a Nobles Deck, so I'm looking forward to turning that in for my Darkmoon Card: Greatness this week. It should go rather well with a pretty little hacking thing I got last week. On the other hand, I've neglected my Shaman, who's sitting lonely at Level 70 in Warsong Hold. The only nice thing is that his Engineering is almost maxed out, so I should have no problem learning that Schematic: Mechano-hog when the time comes. I just need to force my lazy butt to level him. My Hunter has yet to step foot in Northrend, and I don't think I've ever logged my Death Knight past the initial leveling experience. My Warlock finally got four pieces of Plagueheart, so I'll try out how that 4-piece bonus works out. Maybe on Loken later, since I've still got some backlogged quests with those happy little giants.
Overall, I guess it's been a pretty good start of the year. I've gotten a bit of gear on some characters, decent progression in the endgame, and even enjoyed some success in my favorite thing to do, PvP. How about you? It's the end of January, how's your game coming along so far? Have you leveled more than one character to 80? Ventured into Naxxramas? Any Achievement is notable, even for seasonal things like getting the Elder title. In a game that rewards all our varied playstyles, I'm curious to know how everyone's doing so far.

Umm... maybe you all have forgotten the other meaning of retard?
re·tard 1 (rĭ-tärd') Pronunciation Key
v. re·tard·ed, re·tard·ing, re·tards
v. tr.
To cause to move or proceed slowly; delay or impede.
v. intr.
1. To be delayed.
n.
1. A slowing down or hindering of progress; a delay.
2. (Music) A slackening of tempo.
Just because you want to blame a person for being insensitive, doesn't mean you should just lash out at them without considering their true meaning.

@Cryoh
That's what we do, but 90% of the time, some essential person won't do it right, or a freak aggro pull will make everyone gathered on the spark AoE die at once.

The blog post isn't about the term, so to do away with any drama or offensive language, I've edited it out. That way we can focus on the breakfast topic instead of getting derailed.

Well, I just started playing when Recruit-a-friend award came into my account. and I just have vanilla WoW account so I leveled my druid to level 60 and I'm stuck there while others are leveling to level 80 kinda sad for me. lol. I'm sure I'll get the other two expansions later(no money atm -.-). So far so good January for me. Enjoying my free time. :D

I got my main to 60 and finally started exploring Outland. This is the highest-level character I've ever had in the game, and I love knowing that there's still so much for me to do.
I'm now working on getting my mage to 60 by May so she can get the Willy pet during Orphans' Week - as an arcane-specced mage, a purple pet that occasionally shoots eyebeams that zap critters really is the perfect pet.
Yeah, this year's going well for me too. *grin*

I got my warrior tank to 80 in December and had some fun with heroics. However due to other stuff in my life, I decided that I would not be restarting the 10 man group that I'd been leading in BC. In the last month I've been playing a lot less, though I did get to OT a couple wings of Naxx-10, and have tanked Obsidian Sanctum-10 a couple of times as well.
I finally leveled a DK and found the starting zones to be as fabulous as advertised. She's sitting around 58 now. My mage is stalled at 63 and my priest and rogue still sitting at 60, though I have been slowly training enchanting on my rogue, and am TOTALLY thrilled with how inscription helps with that. These days I'm playing less than ever, still enjoying tanking the random heroic when asked, and sloooooowly leveling my moonkin (72 now!).

Since I run a feral druid, a BM hunter, and an enhancement shammy, I get the feeling that the game is pretty much over for me.

I hit 50 last night on my first character. I'm really working hard at exploring all corners of the world, though that's extremely hard to do on a PvP realm. I'm hoping at 80 I can do a quick run through the Alliance camps so I can discover them on my map. Filling in the map is the most fulfilling thing for me in this entire game.
Telaria Jan 31st 2009 5:41PM
You shouldn't need to be 80 to discover enemy camps - usually you don't need to enter them, just buzzing a less guarded portion of the borders works fine. For that matter, if you're high enough in level above the guards, it's possible to go around their aggro radius if you move fast enough. :)

I came back to WoW one week before WotLK. I had a 53 mage. As a casual player, I'm very happy to have a 73 death knight, a 12 paladin (not played a lot with him) and leveled my mage to 64 (I plan to level him to 80, but DK is so fun...).
My guild is not very active, so the only thing I miss is group experience (I would pug but my server is low-populated and I can't play at peak hours).
I would like to see more BC content (as I only did hellfire peninsula, zangarmarsh and terrokar forest before going to northrend), so I will probably do it at 80 or while leveling an alt. But so far, I'm really impressed about WotLK lore and storyline so far. I can't wait to do Wrathgate quest chain.
It was funny to be a casual player at midnight launch. I was with a friend and he was confused to see that many people waiting for an expansion (in Montreal).

My initial plan was to push my three original mains + DK to 80 all at once, then have each one knock out a different set of achievements, mostly so that they could have unique rewards.
As of the end of January, only my warlock is at 80 (with my two other mains at 70 and 72, and my DK at a measely 60), and I've decided that it'd just be easier to grind all the achievements on my warlock alone (as well as run instances/raid/whatever). Yeah, it is kind of a letdown that I don't have all of them at 80 and sufficiently geared, but really? I'm a roleplayer, they can still access the vast majority of the game, I've come to realize there's no rush in leveling them since most of what I use them for nowadays is RP anyway.
Having now sampled every class in the game, I just plain have the most fun playing a warlock, so she'll continue to get the bulk of my attention, and I'm satisfied with that.

I'm doing really well as far as the game goes.
I've got my priest and hunter to level 80. My priest has full tier 7, "Champion of the Frozen Wastes," and some really neat little shinies like KT and Maly gear. I've gotten World Explorer, Merrymaker, Elder, leveled my cooking and fishing from 0 to nearly 450, camped all the Dalaran books for my neat little arcane elemental pet (which is ALWAYS out) and just got my Albino Drake yesterday after a duo foray into AQ40 for my 50th mount. I've also leveled a bunch of alts into the ~40 range, though I'm not sure which one I'm really interested in taking to 80 next.
Good stuff. :)

I'm in a small guild that only had 6 80s until three of our slackers came back and started power leveling last week. We've cleared Naxx-10 up to Saphirron with at least 5 puggers every week, so we don't feel too bad about being behind the curve.
I leveled my warlock first, and haven't looked back. With all the death knights we raid with, I have no trouble getting clothie dps gear, and I've honestly had no trouble staying on top of the charts, despite what the QQ'ers on the official forums might say.
I bought a couple of heirlooms with Emblems of Heroism, including the shoulders that increase experience gained by 10% from monsters, and started leveling a paladin, so I can try raid healing eventually.

The Schematic for Mechano-Hog requires that you're exalted with Hord Expedition, so your 70 wont' be able to learn it, even with max engineering.
Zach Jan 31st 2009 1:01PM
Hence the subsequent sentence: "I just need to force my lazy butt to level him."
Bossy Jan 31st 2009 3:06PM
My paladin hit 80 late December and is just raiding Nax 10 once or twice a week. The guild is also doing Nax25, but mostly I decline.
We downed 3 quarters and do need to do the rest still.
The reason I play is to do PvP though and I want all my high level characters to become Justicar.
Only happened to my pala though and so my rogue needs to be pushed beyond 70 now.
I play about 3 to 4 hours a day, so enjoying the lore of Warcraft that I started playing Warcraft 3 also, just to see the history unfold again.
So much to do and so little time. Change to retri with the pala (and gear), level the Rogue into Northrend. Going to other another friends guild on a new realm with a new DK. And of course creating that Horde "conqueror" hunter just to feel the other side of things.
Goal is to have that Horde hunter as "Conqueror" by October this year and all the rest by year's end. Including that damned Rivendare horse.
At that time some info on the next expansion will helas come to soon I guess to fulfill all my Wow gaming pleasures.

Damn you Zach. You and your Nobles Deck-having face.
I'm only about halfway through constructing mine after a month and a half of trying (part of the reason is that my guild's main scribe is making cards using only the materials I feed him so I don't bankrupt both of us). Unfortunate that Nobles cards have not suffered the massive deflation that the others have on my server (there are Chaos cards going for 10 gold, Undeath and Prisms for about 40-50, and the cheapest Nobles cards still hovering around 1000).
That being said, I've been productive. Got my Elder title and hit Exalted with the Argent Dawn, Argent Crusade, and Scryers (I made a pile of gold selling a duplicate Nobles card, and so bought an assload of Sunfury Signets) all within the last few days. If any of you are wondering about my rationale for specifically grinding Scryers, I rank them very highly in my list of groups with nice-looking tabards, but as a Death Knight I am unable to obtain my favorite (Argent Dawn). And since I've already hit Exalted with Wyrmrest, Ebon Blade, and the Argent Crusade, I was just planning ahead for the day when I no longer have to champion anyone.
Neirin Jan 31st 2009 3:44PM
As an achievement whore, Getting myself into the top 10 achievement point holders on the server and accruing 14 titles makes me very happy. Now I just need to be on when my guild runs Malygos so I can add a 15th title.
sosei Jan 31st 2009 5:43PM
Pretty good so far; wrapped up the Elder title last night among a barrage of disconnects, so now I'm three-for-three on seasonal titles! I've all but abandoned my alts for now - most of which sit in the wasteland of the mid 40s - but I might start playing them again on non-raid days.
Like today!
eadipus Jan 31st 2009 6:20PM
just started 10 man naxx today and got my my epic flying today as well.
have learned to hate the safety dance in just two short hours.
PUGing has been excellent so far, only run into one unworkable group in the whole expac so far. discovered that tanking with imba Norweigan dps is challenging but incredible quick and enjoyable.
