February's Brew of the Month: Izzard's Ever Flavor
This month's brew works a bit like last month's in that it uses a buff, and when the buff expires it triggers another effect. Drinking the brew will sometimes proc Gassy, and when Gassy expires (or you click it off), you belch. When you do that, anybody in front of you will be a little unhappy.
Can't say I'm a fan of the brew this time around, at least not as much as last month's Wild Winter Pilsner. It got a chuckle out of me, but I probably won't carry a stack around at all times like I did with the last one. Definitely does not topple BigRedPriestess.

If nothing else in those fake patch notes turn out to be true other than Brew of the Year being removed for the achievement I would be a happy camper.

I agree, but one I do hope is not true is that they're considering dropping the number of recipes for Chef the Partie from 160 to 150.
As it stands, there are 162 cooking recipes; getting the CdP achievement requires you to farm for the Savory Deviate Delight recipe (or hit the AH, which is what I did), do the incredibly complex epic quest chain for Dirge's Kickin' Chimeraok Chops, or be a Rogue and get Thistle Tea.
If they want to add recipes to remove that requirement, great; but it's not necessary to nerf the achievement at the same time. It's not impossible to get, it just takes some planning and patience, kinda like Higher Learning, Pest Control, or the critter /loving achievements.
...and this is now seriously off-topic.

I like it the way it is - it should be hard! Besides they'll add more recipes, either in a patch or xpac and then there'll be a new bar set to reach. That epic chain might be solo-able now...? and the deviate recipe isn't that hard to either farm or buy, depending on your server though, but the farming is possible.

"That epic chain might be solo-able now...?"
I wish! This quest kicks it off...

"Return the Head of the Broodlord Lashlayer to Baristolth of the Shifting Sands at Cenarion Hold in Silithus."
(Although now it appears that everyone in the raid can loot the head -- originally, only one player could. *boggle* Maybe I'll go after this one anyway...)

I'm one recipe away from the 160 recipe achievement and don't have Dirges chimera chops, I'm not a rogue so don't have thistle tea and have yet to farm (or pay 1800g....) for savory deviate delight. In fact my last recipe is going to be Dig Rat stew, though as I'm Alliance it's going to involve a bit of buggering about on the neutral AH with my horde death knight, and a friend to buy it for me.
Anyway, what I'm trying to say is that this achievement is currently bugged and awards 2 extra recipes (I think) than you actually have. Popular thinking is that its counting the cooking training books as recipes.

If they force us to wait another year before we can get our Proto-Drake for the World Event achievements because of that stupid Brew of the Month stuff, then I'm not even gonna bother with them anymore - which means I have no reason to stay subscribed to the game until Uldar is released, since I cleared all the current content.
I renewed my account last year BECAUSE of the achievement system. It gave me something to do besides grinding the same stupid raid dungeons all the time.
If I gotta get a Brewfest membership first and THEN wait another year to get the achievement done, then to hell with it.
Darleth Feb 2nd 2009 12:46PM
Tut tut, should have had the foresight to subscribe the last time Brewfest came around eh!
JPN Feb 2nd 2009 1:03PM
Correct me if I'm mistaken, but I believe a lot of achievement data was available during Brewfest. (It wasn't in game, but I think the info was out there that this achievement was part of the bigger one, and maybe even on the test realms?) BUT, if you're such an achievement hound, why DIDN'T you get it? I mean yeah you could argue that there could have been an accomplishment to buy all the clothes or whatever but a BOTMC membership is a no-brainer achievement wise. But I bet they'll make them all available somehow. However, I'm sure they want to keep the violet proto-drake somewhat rare...
Lemons Feb 2nd 2009 12:45PM
In before the cascade of retards claiming "You should have known about the BOTMC you imba noob! They shouldn't make this game so easy, people should be randomly screwed at every opportunity!" At this point he explodes.
And the townspeople cheer..

I'm known among my buddies to be a silly and easy-going guy, but I'll never get Blizz' fetish for that belching crap.
JPN Feb 2nd 2009 1:00PM
With 12 brews, I guess they can't all be winners...
Dobmeister Feb 2nd 2009 1:26PM
I'm not that knowledgeable of his comedic works, but could this instalment of Brew of the Month be a reference to Eddie Izzard by any chance?
---
Note to the whiners: I'm pretty certain Wrath Beta was going on last Sept-Oct at Brewfest. Achievements were known, and the tiers of meta-achievement involving Brew of the Month were known. I digress, perhaps the brew token income rate for most players meant they fell a few short of both membership of the club and a full Brewfest regalia, however, that 12-month commitment for ye Cheevmuntstalkers would have surely had higher priority?
Having your precious Violet Proto-Drake one year late does not make you any less of a person.

The fact remains that the Brewmaster title is the only seasonal event title that requires you to keep working on it well after the event is over.
Blizzard removed the Truesilver Shafted Arrow requirement from the Love is in the Air achievement and they removed the masks requirement from the Hallow's End achievement, presumably because they want the titles to be obtainable within a single holiday event. I'm willing to bet that some patch soon will remove Brew of the Year, if only to put the "You should have known! It's not Blizzard's fault that you didn't live on the forums trying to find out everything you could about achievements!" griefing to a stop.
I actually got the Brew of the Month club on one of my alts, but didn't play him at all while I was levelling my main to 80 and exploring Northrend and I didn't drink the brew for that month. So now I'm SoL for the achievement until that month comes around again? Screw. That.

That's funny. I managed to get the Permanent Peddlefeet in my first ever foray into the Valentines' Event, almost 3 years ago. Is the drop rate that low?
