Forum post of the day: Tick Tock

There are some things that seem odd, but actually appear to be common. Some examples include jumping when charging or when summoning a flying mount, obsession with repairing gear, and checking out what every linked item looks like. I have some of the habits mentioned in the thread, and a few others:
- I say "For Pony!" in vent when I charge a boss- with varying degrees of enthusiasm.
- I name my mounts- Muffin is still my favorite, whenever I rez my favorite healer I whisper "Arise, my champion!" and he usually responds with "At your side, milady."
- I check out every drop before I press greed in a group, even though I know I don't need greens.
- When I'm getting my bearing, I turn to the right.
- I jump when I go into instances.
- I have a Saitek Eclipse II Keyboard, I change the back-light color to red for arenas.
It's good to know that my behaviors are not really that out of line. What are your ticks, quirks, and other rituals?

I always feel the need of running in perfect circles around a character of my choosing using the : S->A->W->D combination.
Also, Space Bar is one of my favorite keys ^^

Gnomes are KOS. No matter what. I always pick the gnome out before anything. Its just like a huge KILL ME I'M A GNOME sign.
Before every AV behind the gate, i spam /train until everyone joins in.
And probably the only real quirky thing i do is when my DK has all his shit on CD or there just happens to be nothing to do while my GCD refreshes (which is often on a DK), i alternate pressing A and D reallllly, really fast so i look like a blur and once the CDs are back in rotation i rinse and repeat.

I always walk over to dead alliance players corpses and spit on the ground. Then laugh. hehe...
NO MERCY!

I always jump when breaking my Feign Death, so it looks like my flattened-out corpse pops up into the air.
Considering all the habitual tics I have when driving, washing dishes, etc., I have surprisingly few in-game. Since probably /cheering at every Spirit Beast pet I see doesn't count.
Plus the jumping into instances thing. I just like to see myself suspended in the air, really.

I jump every time I enter an instance. I think it's a desire to hit the middle of the portal. Only time I don't jump is if I'm strafing in and out of the portal because "Additional Instances could not be launched."
On a boss fight, if there's ever ANY down time where nothing needs to be done. I jump. I also often jump while I'm healing with instant casts. CoH, ProM, PW:S, SoL Procs, etc.
Also jumping at the end of hearthstone casts so you jump right before you port to the inn (provided you have SOME latency). I imagine this looks like me jumping into the air and disappearing, but I'll never know.
Mostly just jumping.

Also the ctrl+click thing to check out all items on myself. Only of epic quality or higher though. All the blues look the same now =\.

Whoo boy, wonder why so many people hate gnomes so much. Confidence issues? ; P Wait, I play an Orc Warrior : (
Anyway, my biggest quirk is that when I get on my flying machine, I always take off vertically, except when I'm standing near a cliff, then I just ride off the cliff until fly turns itself on.

I try not to stand on top of the UC's tailoring trainer's counter while talking to him. I'm sure he appreciates it.

When I'm bored or thinking of what to do next, I jump around the top of the bank in Orgrimmar, and I know everyone else does the same because they are jumping in circles as well.. pretty amusing.

Every toon I have is a lithe female character and each one's name consists of at least 4 syllables.

Ever since I got my Titanium Seal of Dalaran, flipping it has become my new tic. (Prior to that, it was popping Piccolo of the Flaming Fire.) Coming in a close second is my /fistbump macro.
When I log into gchat, I generally respond to hellos with either "Ahoy hoy" or "Hey hey!" (Yes, I watch a great deal of The Simpsons.)
Also a compulsive ctrl-clicker and portal-jumper.
Finally, if I misspell a word in gchat, I always have to correct myself. I think it has to do with having an editor for a parent.

Why you should jump when entering an instance is answered in this comic:

I think I'm one of the few people that hasn't unbound the mouse's scroll wheel from zoom in/zoom out because whenever I'm fighting and I'm casting a long heal or I have nothing to do because everyones at full health, etc, I like to zoom in or out, it makes me feel like I'm doing something.
I am a compulsive inspector. I also look at my own gear on my character screen alot. There's something Soooo satisfying about seeing a full Tier set lit up.
I always have to jump before going into stealth (and yes before entering instances)
Kind of random, but whenever you are waiting around in a raid, or in dalaran or something, and you have someone targeted and you can see that they have you targeted, isn't it sort of like making eye contact? And it can be awkward if you don't say something or /emote or target someone else? heh.
Kinsbane Feb 2nd 2009 10:57AM
Anytime I'm waiting for something to happen, blimps, brb's in a instant, BG's to start, etc. I sit down. Not really sure why, guess I just figure my toon's likely tired after running everywhere.
Clinto Feb 2nd 2009 11:32AM
back in the day when i played my hunter, i would always make the pet stay outside of every building

As a mage, I do things to amuse myself mostly. There's one thing that I haven't done much, but it keeps me laughing/smiling for hours and the victims have fun with it as well. I put up a portal next to the meeting stone so when people thing they're summoning people, they're actually sending people away. It isn't very hard in my guild since people usually get confused between the mage table summoning and a portal.
Another thing I do is if we're waiting to start a boss (has to be one that people can still see you at) is to invis (arcane mage instant cast ftw) and run up to the boss. It used to freak people out (still does if the raid leader is explaining the fight), but most people don't react to that one anymore. They say "oh, it's just Zaub"

Something that I've so far only had myself encounter doing is pressing B to open the bags repeatedly even though I don't need anything in the bags. I'm usually unaware that I open the bags for no reason.
Percolatte Feb 3rd 2009 8:34AM
I do this too. Bags, and the map. Even if I have no reason to.
I also jump into instances and starting moving a few seconds before my mount is fully cast.
When I'm fighting mobs, I can't stand standing inside them, so I always, always back up so I'm in proper position.

I hate a messy inventory.
Using Bagnon, starting from the top down it goes, Hearthstone, Potions, Cloth, Reagents, Food. Then from the bottum up it goes, fishing pole, pvp gear, dmg gear (I'm a healer), quest items. That leaves about 20 to 30 slots in the middle for the everyday cache.
I try to finish all the quests in a zone before moving to the next.
I'm actually doing the Loremaster achievements in my spare time. >

Since the Glyphs came along, I mostly Levitate EVERYwhere!
Also, Levitate + Lightwell + PW:Shield + Guardian Spirit + Holy Nova = Screenshot.
And Levitate OFF of a mount is kinda fun (altho I have done it accidentally, when up high, and it takes a LONG time to land!)
Only just begun to play with it in a party... beware!
On my mage, I Blink alot. I like to try to Blink from the AH steps in Ironforge ONTO the bridge. Usually jump off the steps and Blink in mid-air, land on the bridge!
