WoW Moviewatch: It's a Hard Gnome Life
This is not a movie for dazzling special effects or high end sountracks. All of the graphics are fairly straightforward gameplay footage, including a view of the user's mouse zipping about the screen. But you know what? That's cool for this. Nothing about this movie is intended as anything except an exceedingly tongue-in-cheek joke. The whole thing is obviously not meant for anything but sarcastic fun. C'mon. It's about a character named Gnomeosaurus.
The best joke in it, in my opinion, is the gag about Devilsaur-shaped cookies with a gnome head on top. The MS-Paint jokes, the sloppy cut-overs. . .the whole thing is just about goofy puns and giggles. My only complaint about it, though, is that the piece runs a little long for its style. Clocking in a little over six minutes, I'm not sure its humor can be sustained for the whole length.

I loved the converter box joke. People like that are everywhere, and as terrible as it sounds, if you're that dumb you deserve to be without television in two weeks. I had to deal with them too, since I used to work for a television station.

Loved that one part it brings to mind a coversation my brother in law had with a lady when he was working at the local audio/video store:
"I need to buy some spark plugs."
"I'm sorry, but we don't sell spark plugs, we sell electronics."
"But spark plugs are electronic."
"No, sorry spark plugs are engine parts, we don't have them, you want to go to the repair garage just up the street for spark plugs."
"They won't have them, they don't carry stuff like that, you do."
"I'm sorry to tell you this, but no we don't."
"Your being extremely unhelpful, I want to talk to your manager!"
"He's in the back doing orders right now but I assure you he would tell you the same thing, we don't carry spark plugs!"
Then about an hour later the manager came out of his office and said that some lady phoned him and started berating him because his one of his employees refused to sell her spark plugs.....

I used to work at Circuit City and stuff like this happened all the time.
Basically someone gets it in their head that something does a certain thing and they will try to convince you for hours that it works that way.
One day I spent an entire hour and a half telling some lady that you cannot charge a laptop through a USB port and even if they could do that, we didn't sell it. She had to be escorted out by security because she got so enraged.

Hey, I just realized that this video took place on Laughing Skull, my home realm! I saw that one of the humans in the background had a guild named PALS FOR LIFE, which is the famous Leeroy Jenkins guild on Laughing Skull. Also, I have seen that random tauren before. His name is Ed.

It was alright, but the narrator had a lisp of dome sort which made it difficult to understand.

Mojache wannabe.
zuWhowho Feb 2nd 2009 7:29PM
I reconized it as similur to Mojache's work as well, but I'm all for it!
I loved Mojache's style, nothing used but Fraps and MS paint and something to stich it all together, and with a story that could easy have happerned, with out distractions like Illidan and Arthas. I love it! It's only a small step away from beeing as great as the Red Shift stories. As the characters become more beliveable and accsesible.
If more new machinimarists had the conifdence to make things like this and rely on their humbel and effective storys insteed of action, machinia would be better for it ^^

The narrator's voice kinda blew the movie. Its like he tried to do a silly Gnomish voice, but just couldn't get into it... making the whole thing sound awkward.

That's what she said... (Sorry you set yourself up)
