Breakfast Topic: Uptime

While it's common for many players to do something outside of the game when it's server maintenance, I'm curious to know what happens when server maintenance doesn't happen or happens in the form of rolling restarts. Since Blizzard never announces too much in advance whether or not the maintenance will take a long time, some of us make plans for Tuesdays. What happens when servers don't go down? Do you take the unexpected uptime to catch up on some play time? Finish the Lunar Festival Achievements, maybe? Run a couple of heroics? Or hey, maybe it's business as usual.

'While it's common for many players to do something outside of the game when it's server maintenance'
Mandatory I would have thought.

I work, so downtimes usually don't bother me unless they extend beyond all reason and I get home to see the server is still down ... which never happens

I work too... nights.
So I spend every Tuesday wishing that just once in a whole Blizzard would rotate their maintenance window. Let's say 20% of their players play during the day, not night. Then I say 1 out of every 5 maintenance windows should be earlier or later in the day.
Wishful thinking.

I'm so disappointed when Blizzard doesn't give me my scheduled reality time. Scheduling your week around server downtime for the MMO you play is probably a sign you need a break. Step away from the computer, expose your skin to sunlight, and stop worrying about spending every waking minute engrossed in the virtual world.
Anyway, on a serious matter, I can't tell if the picture is of a girl or a guy. It kinda looks like a chick because of long hair and mushy breasts, but this also could be a common case of MOOBS. One could also argue that while the majority of WoW players are guys, clothing modeling makes it a roughly 50% chance.
Anyone care to guess? My guess is its a fluffy guy.

My money's on girls, though either way it's pretty much the only size they need to make that shirt in.
If you catch my drift.

Down time... actually means going to bed.. I am one of those strange beats, an aussie on the US servers. It also means studying, catching up on tv and generally hanging with hubby.
If it doesnt happen.. we do something fun or insane in game (like run steamvault's on our level 80's together)

Server reboots are my personal sign that it's time to head to bed.

It's a chick.
Easy analysis...Zach posted it, so unless Zach's tastes are a bit off center, it's not a fluffy guy, it's a chick whose assets properly (by Zach's standards) present the T-shirt message.

Dammit! It's a guy. So... does that make me, uh, gay?

Go to your room, Zach.

I trusted you.

I don't know about you all, but it says rolling restarts and I can't get on any servers that I have my high level toons (Moonrunner and Ysera). I really just wanna play. But I can't!
Anyone else having similar problems?

I muse agree that this kind of ruins my plans..
I my be at work but I tend to get play time in. But I plan time consuming projects that will keep me away from my computer for Tuesdays.

Restarts mean I'm late for work because I'm trying for my Higher Learning achievement, and the best time for books is right after restart. Let's hope my boss doesn't catch on....

Never an issue, as I schedule wow around my life, not my life around wow.

Downtime = Theorycraft time

Way to perpetuate a negative stereotype about all WoW players being hopelessly addicted. It's stuff like this that shines a negative light on the community. It's harmful to everyone involved, players and Blizzard alike. It's truly is sad to see such a staple in the WoW community adding fuel to the fire of WoW negativity.
