Rogue, cat, arms warrior DPS to be buffed
As of WoW 3.0, all DPS specs are supposed to be providing competitive DPS; this is one component of "bring the player, not the class." Overall I'd say this has turned out pretty well, although within class it still has some issues - almost every mage seems to be Frostfire right now, for instance, and Mutilate rogues are far and away out-damaging other rogue specs. To a certain extent this is probably by design; Subtlety's strengths in PvP, for instance, might make up for its lower raid DPS.
However, there are some melee that Ghostcrawler has just said are "a little low" in DPS:
- Rogue
- Cat Druid
- Arms Warrior
The more awake among you may have noticed that "Rogue" is not a spec. However, I'm reading that as "Combat (and possibly Subtlety) rogue," since the blues have said in a few other places that they're pretty happy with where Mut is right now and that Combat is underperforming.
Ghostcrawler goes on to say that changes are coming to these classes/specs, although of course we don't have specifics to share with you at this time. When we do, you know where to find us. But until then, what changes do you think would help even out the low DPS? And no, "reroll Death Knight" doesn't count (as much as I love mine).

They forgot about Warlocks again?

Warlock DPS is fine.

The difference being, warlocks have to try their best to get to the top spots in dps, whereas rogues et al have to hope that every other dpser is not trying their best.
Cyanea Feb 3rd 2009 3:19PM
Of course they did.
Haven't you figured it out yet? They're trying to phase us out of the game by leaving us so nerfed compared to the other classes that we have no choice but reroll.
No, I'm not bitter.

Warlocks? how bout Enhancement shammies
Shulkman Feb 3rd 2009 3:51PM
Warlocks? What warlocks?
Didn't they all roll DK's after getting after getting shafted by the jackasses at Blizz and Co.?

Warlocks are more than fine - Our raiding warlocks always keeps up with everyone else in the raid.
On the other hand, I'm a bit surprised to see cat DPS. It seems that most people lean away from cat form in favor of the other three, but cat DPS is great whenever I see it.

They are fixing warlocks in the next patch by removing all damage ability and all summon stones in the game.
In addition to said nerf, all raids will be allowed a +1 spot that is reserved for a lock. His soul (yes I know it's mispelled, its a pun!) responsibility is to provide summons and healthstones.
Your lock will only have one spell, drain soul, so that he can make shards for his above stated responsibilities, but drain soul, as stated above, will no longer cause any damage.
No, I'm not bitter either :)

If you are a warlock and not on top 5 of overall WWS then something is really wrong with you or you really suck. I'm doing over 6k dps on most fights.
Affliction lock /w Doomguard or 0/55/16 /w Felguard.

There's a difference between total DPS (trash, you're so important to my dps numbers!)
and BOSS DPS. Warlocks lack in trash DPS, but if you watch any single boss fight, warlocks will be rather competitive, if not edging out ahead.
So tell me, who would you want? Mr. DK in pvp epix pulling 3k all the time, or Mr. Warlock pulling 2k trash and 5k on bosses?

About time, my combat rogue has been sucking for weeks+. It's stupid.

My Warlock is only in the low 20s, but I do raid and have raided/PvPed with locks in the past, and I think locks are a tad low in Naxx-10. A pretty good guild Affi-lock usually raids with my Spriest, and I can match or exceed his numbers unflasked. Flasked, I'll do nearly 500 DPS more. Now, that's just me, but from what I've seen on the meters and watching their DPS, the spells that they use and their effects, it seems locks now are definitely underperforming vs what I would have expected. This may change with Naxx-25 and Uldar gear though... so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for my brothers in shadow.

Warlock dps is fine. The point that we have to work harder for it is actually an immense buff, while others are smashing buttons we're actually having fun.
Moxxy Feb 3rd 2009 2:39PM
Actually Mutilate isn't fine and they know it. They have said that relative to combat and subtlety, mutilate being ahead is fine. However, spreadsheet max for Mut after the recent OH poison bug fix is roughly 5150 in best slot, well below most classes. A generic "rogue" is definitely apt at this point. The outlier, HAT spec, is probably in for some changing because while it is capable of really nice DPS, it requires a stacked group which is against the WOTLK philosophy.
Cyno Feb 3rd 2009 2:54PM
I've been raiding as HAT since 3.0.1, it doesnt take as much group stacking as you think, just get me a hunter or two in my group and im G2G. Last night i was #2 on the meters on Maly25 with a Hunter, a Enchance Shammy, a combat rogue and a mut rogue. Did similar DPS in naxx25 last week with a hunter, a ret pally, a 2h Fr/UH DK and a boomkin.
It is a 25man raid spec, it lacks in 10s and heroics, but all you really need is to not get stuck with the tanks or a couple healers in your group (or casters) and youre able to keep up. I should also note that im a bit undergeared compared to everyone else i raid with. Just joined the guild and only have 2 pieces of ilvl213 gear.

"Rogue" means all rogues. Previous GC comments confirm this.
Mutilate is currently much better than Combat or Subtelty but it's still behind what Mages and Hunters put out by a decent margin.
Silvanend Feb 3rd 2009 3:48PM
contrary to popular opinion, all rogue dps is low, and, honestly, mutilate isn't much better than combat, if at all better.

almost all the top spots are taken by non-bugged HaT rogues and combat rogues.

Reason why u see so many Combat/HAT rogues on the top 5 dps for fights is do the fact that both of those spec's have CDs that GREATLY increase their dps.
As of right now, most fights in This content are less than or around 2 minutes long. This is perfect for combat rogues as the can pop AR and squeak in 2 or so Blade Flurry's. Even HAT rogues can grab Blade Flurry from talents and still do very well dps.
Mut rogues have the best Sustained dmg as of right now, but with the other specs having really good CD's, and these fights lasting shorter and shorter as raids get geared. It makes it look as if mut is gimped.
Also some rogues have trouble with mut do to the complex roatation as compared to combat. I hate HfB with a passion of fights liek sarth3D.
