Will Warrior stance penalties finally go away?

I realized when I got Rune Strike that it was like Revenge, only better in that it could be used in any presence. So if you are a soloing blood DK in blood presence, you can use Rune Strike as a source of high DPS without once switching a presence. And even if you did need to switch to use it, switching presences merely costs you a rune which will regenerate fairly quickly, it doesn't dump all of your runic power. This is just one example of how warrior stances penalize the warrior in three ways (loss of rage, inability to use certain abilities in certain stances, direct stance penalties) which really seems overly restricting. It's fine to say you want warriors to feel unique, but perhaps making them feel uniquely hampered isn't the way to go.
Ghostcrawler only says "This is something we are discussing" so I can only hope the discussion is productive. I don't mind there being pluses and minuses to stances, but the cost seems pretty high for meager benefits nowadays.

"You're" and "Your" are difficult words to use correctly, especially when you're a writer.
Graargh Feb 3rd 2009 3:12PM
Unless your not a moron.
elvendude Feb 3rd 2009 3:20PM
Dude, could you be a little more rude. Why not try, "FYI, you used a your instead of a you're in the article."
You don't have to be a dick to point out a typo.
Matchu Feb 3rd 2009 3:32PM
You forgot your semi-colon.
Psy Feb 3rd 2009 7:16PM
You just can't beat the grammar nazi's can you? I believe this is partly why WoW Insider is considered a blog and not a source for WoW news; as a blog, they can get away with crap like typos. But then, typos happen, who cares?
My main concern for this being a "blog" is because of all the biased posts. If this was an actual news website for WoW news then it couldn't be biased, news sites give the straight facts, no bias remarks. Blogs are the opposites.
And it is for this reason I prefer blogs.

I would be tickled pink if they would just get rid of the damage output reduction on defensive stance. I pray they dont, in the process of fixing the stances, make it so that if I'm in defensive stance, I still recieve as much damage as I would as if I were in battle stance.
This is a chance for the devs to really fix a broken aspect of game, I just hope they dont bork it in the process.
Blacksabre Feb 3rd 2009 3:23PM
To VSUReaper:
Why not...
Remove the damage penalty in defensive stance...the defense penalty in berserker stance...and buff both defense and offense in battle stance...thus obliviating the need for anything else.
:mutters idio...:

Takes an idiot to know one.
The point I was attempting to make is that in a PVP situation, there are to many drawbacks to being able to play effectivly.
Here is a better example:
Shadow form: in order to enter shadow form, you loose all mana but 10%. If you exit shadow form, you loose all mana gained but 10%. This simulates our stance dancing issues.
Now for abilities: you can only use shadow damage abilities (mind flay, mind sear, mind blast, SW: pain/death, VT/VE) while in shadow form. When in regular form, you can only use holy abilities (heals, smite, holy fire).
Do you see what we are saying? If I want to apply a hamstring to someone, I have to go zerker stance, loose all but 10 rage that I have gained, and then apply the hamstring, thus reducing the 10 rage even lower. Then, I have to go back to denensive stance to be able to use spell reflect, which costs like 20-30 rage. Did I mention, and rage I got while in zerker stance while applying the hamstring left the second I went back to defensive.
The stances all need to have thier benefits of some kind. I dont want pseudo-DK pressences/stances, but having penalties with subpar benefits and having certain abilities tied at all times to one particular stance is broken.
Michael Feb 3rd 2009 4:46PM
LOL ok.
So when I enter shadow form with only 10% mana, I should generate mana when I take damage or do damage. Just like you generate rage.
Skummy Mar 13th 2009 4:28PM
Yeah, I'd have to agree: bad example. Shadowform has a penalty, somewhere around 32% of base mana, which doesn't regenerate when we hit/get hit. Casting a heal, which requires switching out of shadowform, takes the mana of the heal (which is much steeper than a holy or disc priest's heals) plus the other 32% to switch back into shadowform. Oh, and replenishment (1% every 4 seconds) is nowhere near the rage generation warriors get from simple melee attacks. I'd be willing to say the penalty is greater for switching out of shadowform than it is for switching stances as a warrior.
Valkyrian Feb 3rd 2009 3:16PM
If they removed the damage output reduction in defensive stance then there is no reason for battle stance.
xenothaulus Feb 3rd 2009 3:21PM
Unless they changed battle stance, which they should really.
Berserker Stance: increases rage generation xx% or X rage/tick and Whatever% haste
Battle Stance: increases damage This% and Something
Defensive Stance: increases threat generated and Something Else
I don't know anything about warriors and that wasn't even that hard to do...
Valkyrian Feb 3rd 2009 3:25PM
So you want DKs and Warriors to basically be the same class?
Kassu Feb 3rd 2009 3:33PM
I think it's not right to compare presences to stances.
And on a corrective note, switching stances has it's penalites. The rune cost means that you might not be able to switch or the switch might throw your rotations off.
So no, just no.
Matthew Rossi Feb 3rd 2009 3:46PM
"So you want DKs and Warriors to basically be the same class?"
No, I want them to be playing the same game. Right now, leveling my DK's is so ridiculously easy and I can switch presences at will, the rune cooldown is barely even a factor and I keep all that sweet, sweet runic power for use however I can.
Try it on a warrior. Get a full rage bar and switch stances to use an ability that's limited to one stance (unlike DK's, who have zero abilities linked to one presence, which wouldn't matter anyway because they lose nothing by switching) - the difference is night and day.
Eternauta Feb 3rd 2009 4:05PM
I agree with Matthew ;)
Houston Feb 3rd 2009 5:19PM
Yeah but it's not like on a DK you are switching stances all the time. Just pick one and go for it. Part of the Warrior mechanics is the active switching of stances.
crsh Feb 3rd 2009 3:18PM
Sure, as soon as my priest can heal without having to drop Shadowform.
Brady Feb 3rd 2009 3:20PM
I'd better also be able to heal as a moonkin, too!
