How is Lunar Festival going for you?
Lunar Festival has been ongoing for awhile now, and still has about a week left. It's one of the longer holidays in Azeroth, so there's ample time to complete all of your achievements or just experience the seasonal content. Despite that... well, I haven't done any of it yet. All the time in the world, and I'll probably be running around trying to get it done the night before everything disappears until next year, just for completion's sake.Achievements are all fine and good, but I'm having a hard time getting up and doing things with this holiday. It's unusual, because it was one of the first holidays that I was genuinely interested in back when they implemented it. It was fun hunting down all of the coins and getting the cool clothes and vanity items, but now? Not really diggin' it. Sure, the first time was fun, but the holiday hasn't really changed since then. There are some new Elders in Northrend, but that doesn't really count, does it?
How is the holiday going for all of you guys, though? I suspect some of you are in the same spot as me, but I know a lot of people are super excited about doing all of it as well. Have you finished your achievements? Working on them slow and steady? Not going to bother?

AAAACK! Of course, I meant MoonGLADE, not Moonbrook.
Told ya I was new!

I have the Elder title on my Druid, because it fits, and on my Rogue, because he's going for the violet proto-drake. I've done the event to death, and it's a pretty boring event that's mostly done solo. Still, there's a lot of reputation to be had, and a pretty nice title, so I was willing to put up with it.

Last week I took my then-level-48 warrior over to Northrend and got all but four of the elders there solo, as well as a plethora of flight points. It was a fun challenge but with the aid of Wowhead maps and some patience and a LOT of deaths, it wasn't undoable. The only ones I haven't been able to get are Wintergrasp and the three in Storm Peaks that require flying. I completed Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms, as well as the Horde and Alliance capitals (I'm Alliance). I haven't done the Omen achievement yet, and I know I won't be able to get most of the dungeon elders, but I've gotten four of the ones I can.
The achievements are definitely what keep me plugging away at it. Otherwise I'd just get enough for the festival clothing and be done with it.

Still cant get groups together to run thru the dungeons in Northrend.
Funny, I can never get a group together for any of the holiday runs.. Though the minute they are over, everyone wants to do them.

Lunar Festival was a blessing for me, and a blast.
My goal with this Belf Priestess since rolling her had been to become Exalted with UC asap. After an abundance of research on WoWHead and thottbot, I figured it wouldn't be possible until Level 38 or later.
Then I found the Lunar Festival... 75 Rep per Elder. OMG. For a Rep whore like myself, a dream come true. My calculations were coming up about 4500 short. If I could only visit 50 or so Elders...
The lvl 80 I had scheduled an Elder run with stood me up, so I ended up hiring a super cool 80 Pally to be my bodyguard. It's nice to have deep gold reserves.
It was so awesome touring around all of Azeroth as a Lvl 34, from Silithus to Winterspring, Plaguelands to the Dark Portal. Our raid on Darnassus was Epic. We even went to Northrend for about 1/3 of the Elders there -- my absolute first look at the new content!
In the end, I dinged 35 just prior to dinging Exalted, a bit later than I had hoped, but still a nice achievement.
I don't have the Elder title, but I do have a personal sense of acconplishment, and now whenever I ride out to do some Heals in SM or Uldaman, I sit high in my saddle, with the blessings of the Elders.
But, damn, my bags are full with fireworks!

I've actually been levelling all week because I was that stubborn about letting my other main get the title. She was 71 when the Lunar Festival started... and just hit level 78 last night and halfway to 79 now. So I think I'll make it... I'll just be irritated with Blizzard for being ridiculous about achievements being level 80 only. Same way I can understand people being ticked over the Brew of the Month thing. I DID know so my two main characters purchased it, but having to rush my second main to 80 for this achievement just rubs me the wrong way. My druid-main has been raiding, so my other one just got put on hold for a while. I fully intended to level her up, but on my time and having fnu with the lore and quests. Blizzard sort of took that away since I want the violet protodrake on both of them. :/

I'm done with all my achievements except for elders of the dungeons. Have about 3 dungeons left, among them the heroic gundrak. Kind of hard to find a group when you play a prot warrior who is not def capped yet. : (
Tenchan Feb 5th 2009 5:05AM
I feel the same.
It just got boring. I have no interest running the same Elder route yet again, rep and Achievement be damned.
IanC Feb 5th 2009 5:27AM
Got a few coins, but thats about it.
Did beat Omen in a cross-faction raid though, which was cool.
The Claw Feb 5th 2009 6:17AM
Elder Claw says.. this holiday sucks!
Seriously, I've enjoyed all the holidays, and have been enjoying them even more with achievements to pursue. But the Lunar Festival is boring Boring BORING!!!!
I ground through it to keep my "Long, Strange Trip" on track, but I basically hated every minute of it. Oh, except soloing Nexus and Utgarde Keep, that was kinda fun.
Dominitus Feb 5th 2009 7:47AM
Mine's actually going much better than I expected. I was feeling a bit burnt out with holidays, I hardly did anything for Winter Veil. However, the Lunar Festival has ended up being fun for me.
The one holiday title that I'm going for is Elder for my druid, and he was at level 78 when the event started. I'm normally hesitant about taking a tank or healer into a new level of dungeons such as heroics, but with the need to get the Gundrak elder I was pushed to get to 80 and into heroics, and it's been fun having that challenge. It's gone well, too.
Aceyalone Feb 5th 2009 8:01AM
My main was level 76 when the festival started, I wanted the title so bad I level to 80 in 3 days. But then I hit a wall, I was a lot more interested in gearing up and doing instances than trekking through out the entire old world! I finally managed to get it this morning though!
Elder Aceyalone baby!

I got my Elder title last week, and since I had to travel through the world for this, I took some time and finally completed The Explorer achievement /title too.
The most boring part was to find the elders in the Northrend dungeons, since I actually had to do the dungeons... again (my guild is currently in Naxx25, so you can imagine I have no use for heroic badges or gear anymore, which added big-time to the boredom fact).
The horrible thing about this dungeon stuff is the PuG. Again.. LFG. There is no point doing it on normal, since the PuG there is usually a lot worse than a heroic PuG (where you have the chance of finding a good tank and decent dps).
Good thing at least... Nexus elder can be done solo, and UK is easy enough on normal to bring a dps friend to help me out (me being healer).
Jason Feb 5th 2009 8:28AM
I was able to knock it out in the first week thanks to some help from my guildies with the Northrend Dungeons...I will admit I borrowed a raid ID or two from friends/guildies who had recently cleared one of the dungeons on Heroic. The rest I was able to solo...the guides on WoWhead and WoWWiki were very helpful in getting a shortest time route to all the Elders.
I'm not looking forward to Love is in the Air...too much to do in too little time & too much depends on random drops.
Laynne Feb 5th 2009 8:54AM
The Lunar Festival isn't my favorite holiday; that falls to Halloween and Midsummer. However, I managed to finish everything up last night and get my title :). Now I just need to hop over to Monglade and pick up some more clothes. One step closer to the proto drake :-D
Keyra Feb 5th 2009 9:03AM
The Lunar Festival was the first holiday that I experienced when I started playing. I actually came in right in the middle of it, so I didn't understand what was going on. It was interesting and left me wandering around like a kid in wonder of Santa Claus the first time he sits in his lap as I also was seeing all of the world of Azeroth for the first time.
Now?
It's interesting and kind of fun, but not what I thought it would be like when I first saw those glowing beams :-)
I have my festival dresses and I'm satisfied. Maybe I'll grab one last coin or two to save for next year. Time to get leveled up some more before I start going city-to-city flirting with everyone! :-)
Rivana Feb 5th 2009 10:17AM
It's going rather well. I'm completing other related achievement while I'm running around the world, often completing 3-4 achievements a day. I'll mostly wrap up Classic Dungeonmaster, the new /love and pest achievements, well-read, and keymaster, as well as picking up a few old-world fishing achievements.
Deb Feb 5th 2009 10:29AM
My Elder Achievement Experience has been one long drawn out PITA. I really have no desire to do it anymore.
Doc X Feb 5th 2009 11:08AM
Still need Utgarde Pinnacle Elder. But that's it.
