I thought pets didn't get any xp from quest turn ins?You won't level your pet any faster questing vs grinding. Grinding might even be faster if some of the quests you are doing are killing stuff in vehicles where you don't get mob xp.

Pets don't get exp from turn-ins, no, but you're missing the "least grindy" part of the equation. I like questing, which inevitably involves killing mobs and getting pet exp, but I can't. ;)I'm not sure why I asked the question now that I look back at it, to be honest. Assuming 25 dailies are done, questing is out of the question, heroics are out of the question (I refuse to bring in an underleveled pet, I respect my groups more than that), normal dungeons feel worse than grinding... there's really only one option.

Least grindy is probably a heroic or normal instance. If you have a well-geared group, your 100ish dps decrease isn't going to make or break the group. But yeah if it's a PUG or if you know it's questionable if the group could do it, you are adviced to bring whatever you can to max dps; pot, flask, pet, whatever. That goes for everyone IMO.
