Turn Evil glyph likely to be nerfed

Even with the change, some players are still crying foul, and Ghostcrawler responds that instant cast Turn Evil "might be a problem" and that they are likely to fix it. This is the latest in a series of nerfs and reworks applied to Paladin glyphs -- mostly affecting PvP -- since the release of Wrath of the Lich King. The original Glyph of Crusader Strike had Crusader Strike deal more damage to stunned targets, but now currently reduces the cost of the spell by 20%. The 41-point talent is plain enough (with the removal of the Judgement refresh aspect in 3.0) and the glyph to accompany it is even more boring. Glyph of Hammer of Justice originally extended the stun by 1 second but now only increases the range of the spell by a mere 5 yards.
With the speed Blizzard tends to hotfix issues like these, expect a nerf to the Glyph of Turn Evil very soon. What was that famous Ghostcrawler line again? Oh, yeah... "to the ground, baby!"

Sounds fine to me

I agree; this doesn't sound like much of a problem. An instacast CC spell with no cooldown certainly would be a problem in PvP, even if the target type restriction made it of slightly limited use.
Heilig Feb 4th 2009 3:37AM
Except it has a cooldown now, and it's long enough where you can't chain fear another player anymore.
Zeplar Feb 4th 2009 12:47PM
I would expect all druids to come support the warlocks now. When hunters almost got instant cast Fear Feral Druid, we raised HELL on them. Now paladins are getting instant cast Fear Demo Warlock. Same *&@#ing difference.
Frostkane Feb 4th 2009 1:10AM
Good riddance.

An instant-cast, no cooldown, PvP-oriented spell... jeeze. If that doesn't scream "Nerf Me Bro" I don't know what does.
Charlio Feb 4th 2009 10:22PM
Seriously. Think of the possibilities... pally/lock combo in 2v2? Bleh... no team with a DK could stand a chance.. pally owns your minion, lock owns you. Lock has every dot he can cast on your teammate and the pally is hammering away at him, throwing FoL on the lock when he needs it... they could end it in a few seconds if your teammate isn't a resto druid or holy priest. @ The people saying "it doesn't have a cooldown". Read the article, it has an 8 second cooldown if you pick up the glyph that makes it instant cast.
Procris Feb 4th 2009 2:21PM
Not to mention it only works on demon/undead pets or DKs that use Lichborn or Locks that use Metamorphosis. Sure this affects Warlocks slightly more depending on the pet their are using, but on the whole, i fail to see why people are so up in arms over it.
A limited use CC, that has a cooldown. Last time i checked, fear can be removed. Ironic how Warlocks are the only class that feels they are special and shouldn't have to use a trinket like the rest of us.

@procis
hahahaahahahahahahaha.
haha.
hahahahaha.
Locks don't have to use a trinket...right.
And that glyph is incredibly OP in PVP. Deserves a cast time and/or bigger CD
Valkyrian Feb 4th 2009 1:22AM
Plus they already have a CC and a long stun (that can mean instant death if you don't trinket).
Leon Feb 4th 2009 1:24AM
That image made me chuckle =)
Somehow I think I should feed bad about these nerfs to my class, but I don't. I mean, I have 3 paladins (don't judge me... >.>) and I don't really mind any of these nerfs at all. Am I a bad paladin for not caring? =(
Taladan Feb 4th 2009 4:33AM
Well, if you don't PvP, then it will not affect you and, thus, you don't really need to care. Then it's all fine.
Ted Feb 4th 2009 11:29AM
I'm gunna say yes lol
Procyon Feb 4th 2009 1:28AM
This does not affect me at all...I do not PVP, but if it did affect my ability to play my class effectively just to balance PVP I would be pissed.
Healtuff Feb 4th 2009 1:28AM
Consider though, who this glyph is being used against.
Lets say you are a Holy Pally. You partner and you are facing a team with a Demo-Lock who is chain fearing you. He pops into Demon form for burst, and wham, he gets chain feared.
Kharma no?
Heilig Feb 4th 2009 3:40AM
This.
The only times you use this glyph are when unholy DK's put BOTH their pets on you, or when demo locks go Illidan. And when that happens, you still have to make a choice whether you want to fear the lock or the felguard that keeps smacking you for 2K every 2 seconds.
yes, when it had no cooldown and could be chain-cast against a lock or a ghoul it wasn't very fair. With a cooldown, though, it is fine.
Puck Feb 4th 2009 1:37AM
Considering this CC only works against Demons and Undead, in PvP it's only good vs. a Warlock's Demon, a Metamorphed Warlock, or a Death Knight who has used Lichbane or has died and is a Ghoul.
Against everyone else the spell can't even be cast!
And it's not like Warlocks (and Priests) don't already have instant-cast Fear spells themselves, and theirs are AoE!
jvelite Feb 4th 2009 1:43AM
And it's not like Warlocks (and Priests) don't already have instant-cast Fear spells themselves, and theirs are AoE!
Warlocks have 1 normal fear spell, which has a cast time and is not AoE.
We also have a Howl of Terror, which also has a cast time, unless you are talented for it ( 35 points deep affliction or so ), and yes, that's an AoE. Too bad that has like 40 seconds cooldown.
Nadril Feb 4th 2009 1:48AM
Yeah, it's not like warlocks are in cloth or anything.
