Dual-spec disclosure distant? Denied!
I know what you're thinking right now, WoW player. You're thinking "Boy, now that I've got a full set of offspec gear from running the only three raid instances available for the past two or three months, it sure would be nice if I could switch specs at will and make use of it with Blizzard's promised dual-spec system!" Then your cynical side inevitably kicks in, though, and you say "Harrumph! Blizzard has promised me many things in the past, on which they didn't deliver!" Then, you remember no one ever promised you player housing and it's a dumb idea anyway.
Dual-specs, though, are a fantastic idea, and cynical though you are, you may appreciate Nethaera's candor regarding just how soon we'll have info on this excellent new system sure to solve everyone's problems. Well, it's just "soon", but that's better than nothing. So stay strong, hybrids who want to DPS sometimes and anyone who wants to PVP and raid on the same day without going broke -- your day is coming!
Of course, wait ... the sooner this feature arrives, the sooner I can be asked to heal on my Elemental shaman without it being an inconvenience. Blizzard, can I ... can I have a quick word? No? All right then, how would you feel about discussing this with ... Mr. Franklin?

ITS BATMAN'S FAULT!

How exactly do we know it won't cost anything to switch? And how exactly do we know we'll be able to do it any time and any place we want? And how exactly do we know it will be anything more than being able to have a trainer remember two specs so that all duel specs amounts to is not having to click each talent every time you change specs?
I suppose a bit of wild speculation about a mechanic which we know nothing about couldn't hurt though.

Well, I don't have much access here at work to provide a link, but there was a blue quote somewhat to the effect that 'it (spec swap) would be trivial to do in a major city, and less trivial to do outside of a city.' I presume that means a reagent or a lengthy cooldown.
I also seem to recall a mentioning that glyphs and actionbars would be swapped too, if they are making it that convenient, I am sure you won't have to click all your talents everytime. Plus, clicking all your talents would allow multiple specs and not just 2 specs.
Hope that helped some.

My guess is (and just a guess and based on pure assumption) is that your alternate spec will cost some modicum amount to purchase initially and you'll be able to switch between the two while not in combat - similar to how you can't switch armor or raid grouping while in combat.
They'll probably provide a template storage (similar to Talented_Data's template storage) to store your second spec so you can push a button to switch between the two.
Pure conjecture but that's how I envision it happening.

Because Blizzard has said as much?

I wish we could get more info no how it works and I wish PTR would come up. But if wishes were fishes, we would all live in the sea.

I think everyone will benifeit from this, hybrids and pures alike. My paly that i raid with mostly will be happy cause i love to go ret for some raid and holy for others. My rogue will be much easier to have fun with as i raid a little bit on him, but pvp alot, and they each use a dif spec.
And ill finally lvl my druid, my old raiding main, to 80. as i like to tank instances but boomkin it up when questingj.

Yeah.. I don't really give a rip about PvP, but as a Rogue, it would be nice to switch between two raiding specs depending on the situation. Maybe as someone else said somewhere else, one spec for trash, and one for bosses.

If one spec is my Good spec, and the other spec is the Evil spec, then I want them even more!
Please please please! I wanna be Evil!
Candina@WH Feb 5th 2009 3:43PM
Evil is as evil does. Go kill Mr. Bigglesworth a few more times ;-)

If you want a house for your character to decorate, go play the Sims.

PLAYER HOUSING IS A KOOL IDEA!
Frank Feb 5th 2009 3:54PM
player housing might not be practical, but guild housing (instanced entrance?) would be great.
Zawer Feb 5th 2009 4:09PM
Depends on if its the crappy EQ2 player housing from when it came out (I don't know if it has changed) or more like the Asheron's Call housing where you could display some of your cool looking gear from level 60. However I do not think player housing is needed.
Thrush Feb 6th 2009 11:30AM
Player housing as a means to display your accomplishments in the form of trophies and knick-knacks is a great idea but I think the Achievement system took its place.

I originally thought Dual Specs would probably be in 3.2, but that was before the shambles of 3.0.8 and the announcement of 3.0.9, so now I'm pretty confident that we'll see Dual specs in 3.1, just we'll be seeing 3.1 later than expected.

So you do guys have a minimum posts per day quota or something?
Tristina Feb 5th 2009 3:16PM
That's pertinent to this topic how?
