Every profession has plenty of recipes that are essentially useless already. I don't see why engineers would need to be compensated for this any more than they'd need to be compensated for that obsolete Rough Copper Bomb recipe that they never use any more. If ammo-making really was that enormously profitable for engineers, that just means that hunters were paying enormous amounts of gold to be able to do the same thing that mages and warlocks do for free. It's a good change.
Anyone else reminded of the Rogue class from Diablo 1? Never could figure out where she kept all those arrows...
