EU PTR Forums up, character copying reported successful [Updated]
You can head over the EU PTR forums, and you'll notice that they've been wiped clean and are up and running. They contain links to all the class changes already released, but no actual PTR patch notes.Interestingly, several people are reporting that they're able to copy characters over successfully.
This is rather surprising, because despite the recent class changes many of us weren't expecting the PTR until next week at the earliest. Perhaps this is a sign that it'll come earlier, or at least is in the "getting ready" stage for public release.
This PTR is going to be huge, on the scale of patch 2.4 when they released the Sunwell.
We'll have more up on WoW Insider the second we hear it, and don't forget to check out our coverage of Patch 3.1.
Update 12:45 p.m. EST: We're getting several reports that US/NA people can copy over characters to the US PTR now.

Kings as base talent!
Exorcism hits all mobs, 100% crit on demons and undead!
This makes me happy.

I think this is pretty awesome. I was really suprised to see this post this morning, as I thought that we wouldn't see a PTR for another month or so, and yesterday was our little teaser to whet our appetites.
I guess when they said they were far ahead in the patch cycle and 3.1 is almost complete, they weren't lying. Now it's time to test it all.
Yay blizz.
Jayeless Feb 6th 2009 11:44AM
Wasn't there supposed to be a 3.0.9?
Aggrajag Feb 6th 2009 11:45AM
It may be "technically" huge but the download is a dinky 17.5Mb
Lavon Feb 6th 2009 11:49AM
uhm... no, it's not. the patch is not available yet. i don't know what you downloaded but it sure as hell wasn't the 3.1 ptr patch ;)
Aggrajag Feb 6th 2009 11:57AM
I dunno then.
My PTR launcher does it's little download then the Blizzard Downloader sits trying to do 17.5MB but doesn't actually get anywhere.

Character copy is successful on US realms too.
Haedes Feb 6th 2009 12:49PM
charater copy is indeed working in EU and so is ptr patch currently downloading 205mb file 3.0.1.8874 EU PTR Installer
Wolfspider Feb 6th 2009 12:59PM
I'd like to confirm character copies for US realms as well. I can't test downloading the client since I'm at work, but you can copy your characters.
Jim A Feb 6th 2009 1:02PM
I like the fact that the US PTR's are labled... English PvE and Spanish PvP *grin*
Chuck Feb 6th 2009 1:04PM
I can confirm that you can download the client, as I am doing so right now. Downloading World of Warcraft 3.0.1.8874 US PTR Installer" And is only 107 MB here.
They don't keep the old ones up do they? But anyways, that's what i'm downloading right now, the file listed above.
Thiosion Feb 6th 2009 3:43PM
That's what I'm downloading too...
But I can't see it being an old one, then it would be 3.0.8.
But... 8874... That's a beta build. We're at like... 9000 something.
Yes, it's over nine thousand.
Chuck Feb 6th 2009 1:05PM
Also, it's the US client, if that hasn't been made obvious by the filename.
Ascal Feb 6th 2009 1:16PM
3.0.1.8874 is the old one
should be 3.1 not 3.0.1 ;)
Keith Feb 6th 2009 1:27PM
Yea, the current worldofwarcraft.com/ptr is all 3.0.8 stuff. It's the old client avail for download, and shows me I only have 2 of 4 copies availiable (I used 2 copies for the 3.0.8 PTR - a new PTR cycle should have reset that count)
Nick S Feb 6th 2009 1:42PM
Copied two toons and started the download.
I'm seeing a 107 MB 3.0.1.8874 PTR Installer file.
Nathanyel Feb 6th 2009 1:48PM
The character copies are still from the last PTR phase, just like with the patches before. Expect your copy number reset to 4 again and all copied characters to vanish once this PTR phase really starts.
Dahrken Feb 6th 2009 2:12PM
I can confirm a successful US/Oceanic PTR character copy, but as everyone else is saying the forums and downloads have not been updated yet. Blue eu posts look fairly solid however.
Shade Feb 6th 2009 2:56PM
I managed to copy a character over - no idea if it'll stay there though.
Slyan Feb 6th 2009 3:57PM
I just want to know why everyone thinks this one is going to be so 'big' and on-par with the Sunwell patch. Sure there are some big things supposed to go in, but there have been big things in other patches before. Mind you I am of course excited for it, but class balancing buffing and nerfing has happened many many times, so that cant be counted as 'big' and big raids have been added in the past, so unless Ulduar is MASSIVE its not likely any bigger then most other big raids yes?
