Ulduar will be 64 harder
Pushed by players to answer just how hard Ulduar really is, EU CM Wyrxian has an answer: 64. Apparently, the instance will be 64 harder than the current Wrath instances. In other news, the recent patch 3.1 changes will make playing the game about 75 more fun, and the ammunition change alone will put Hunters 23 higher than they've been in the past. More news as we get it.Joking aside, obviously Wryxian says Ulduar will be harder, but it's not easy to put a number on difficulty. He says "it has to be experienced to understand." Blizzard has already said that they want to change things like mana regeneration to be less frantic and more strategic, so it'll be interesting to see just what kinds of mechanics appear in Ulduar -- odds are the difficulty probably won't be of the "Bosses that hit really, really hard" variety, but rather that we'll see more situations where the raid's attention is divided x number of ways. Maybe 64?
At any rate, the PTR should be up soon, if not tonight considering all of the reveals Blizzard has done this week, and then we'll have a better idea of what the next raid has in store for us.

Perhaps Wryxian was doing what he should instead of replying to mindless quantitative instance assessment, that is, thinking about the glory days of the Nintendo & Commodore 64's

The truth is that Ulduar is the Contra of wow. One shot kills and we only have three lives.

Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, Start.

If you eat some mushrooms you can even take two hits.

Tanooki suit or Kuribo's Shoe imo.
Nothing better than a vehicle that is made in the shape of a boot.

if someone had said they answered with a number like this, i wouldve thought it would be 42.

@Nadril
"Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, Start."
I think you meant:
"Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, SELECT, Start."

I have failed :(
sgtrama Feb 6th 2009 12:48PM
SELECT start was only if you were playing 2 players so that it would change the menu from 1 player to 2.
Also: Contra 4 was still really really hard and there WAS no back-up :(

Ulduar will be cleared within 2 days of hitting the PTR.
Once it hits live, all the strats will be available to everyone and we will be bored once again for 6 months until something new arises.
I think Blizzard fails to realize how quickly content gets chewed up in their own MMO.

Just because you have information on how the fight goes doesn't mean that it's roll your face on the keyboard while making a sandwich easy.
There are still more then a handful of guilds floating around that have yet to see Malygos let alone beat him.

Would you rather Blizzard take a page from Square-Enix's book and put a Pandemonium Warden in their game?

What's your alternative suggestion?
Triple the proposed content?
As it is, with the ease of access to Naxx everyone has, i'm of the opinion, that the average skill level of players has actually risen. In the old days most folks would only ever meet tank'n'spank bosses. These days even Heroic bosses have neat little tricks to prepare us all.
Now however because we're all far more experienced than we used to be this opens up Blizz o try new and even more complex tricks in Ulduar... Potentially it could be quite exciting... even if it is cleared within 2 days, the non hardcore raiders could potentially still be chewing through it quite happily for far longer.

Blizzard seems to be going about a new model for WoTLK, that is, they are trying to start everyone off on the same page and help work them up. Instead of dumping some relatively hard (during conception) instances on us like in TBC they started with a dungeon equal to what most people in TBC got used to pugging near the end (Kara).
If I had to guess I might say that Ulduar will be around SSC/TK difficulty, at least judging from what's gone on so far.

Thank you for this well thought out and insightful post! Even though it is not correct in that Blizzard has stated the exact opposite of your proposed release plan for Ulduar!
Since you are clearly a member of a guild at the level of Ensidia and will also be clearing this content in 2 days because your only enjoyment in life is doing something 15 minutes faster than the next guy...I do in fact feel sorry for you. My friends and I, however, will enjoy learning the content and progressing regardless of how long it takes. We will then go outside and play football or frisbee to enjoy the rest of our time.

Maybe Blizz should put in an instance wherein the raid tries to solve some sectarian dispute, that would keep people busy.
"Okay guys, ready to make India and Pakistan get along?"
"Quick! Use shield wall, they've launched a nuke!"
"Everyone release and try again."
That could be fun, right?
Alchemistmerlin Feb 6th 2009 2:36PM
That's why Blizzard should ban folks who post strats.
You want the content to be hard? You don't want to be done with it in 4 weeks? Don't read the god damned strategy you lazy wanks.
vazhkatsi Feb 6th 2009 5:20PM
well, if you read wowinsider you would know that blizz is planning on only testing some encounters on the PTR, a lot of ulduar will be untested on patch day.
comradesean Feb 6th 2009 11:48AM
You really should read up on the subject before you comment. They are trying out something new this time so we don't get to view the entirety of the instance on the PTR.
Sam Feb 6th 2009 11:53AM
Wow, thanks for an article giving us no info about Blizzard giving us no info! Way to stay on top of the most important breaking news!
