"Stinker," now with 50% more win
If you're a serious noncombat pet collector, by now you probably have the Shop Smart, Shop Pet...Smart achievement, which rewards a Reeking Pet Carrier containing a very cute little skunk called Stinker. That was reason enough for me to get to 50 pets, but the owner of WarcraftPets.com (and the namesake of the Dalaran NPC who sells pet supplies, Breanni) had been told at BlizzCon that there was something unusual planned for the wee skunk in a future patch.I didn't realize it at the time because the savages in my guild are still blowing up Crashin' Thrashin' Racers in raids instead of pulling out their usual pets, but it looks like 3.0.8 was the patch in question. Letters from Birdfall actually got video of Stinker's new behavior: when anyone nearby pulls out a Bombay Cat or a Black Tabby, he falls in love and starts chasing them, only to return to his owner with a broken heart. I'm off to go try this ingame, and suffice it to say that my own version of Pepé Le Pew is going to be out even more than he already is.

Ah the picture has the imsirpation for my DK name.. which is, of course, PepelePewPew.
I need this "Stinker" as a familiar, er, I mean pet.

I tried this the day the patch hit because logically I thought they would do this with stinker. Asked a buddy to pull out a black tabby but alas nothing happened. Good to see it in game. Whats great is it only takes 1 cat. My raid of Naxx on Tues had 1 cat out and roughly 15 stinkers following that cat around.

That's very cool

This is awesome. Just tried it.

My spouse and I both have little stinker. We have given everyone in our guild a bombay and we have been flooding the AH with super cheap bombays as well (below vendor cost). We are trying to up the incidence of potential amorous companions for our little guys :)

That they did this at all is pure win.
That he gets the love heart upon running I expected.
That he gets the heartbroken animation upon returning, however, is adorable, win, and awesomesauce.

Y'know, I've never been a pet-collecting kind of guy, but with this, I just might have to get fifty pets. The nifty thing is that, as word spreads, more people will probably start having cats out.

OMG! The coolest thing Blizzard has ever done!
Birdfall Feb 8th 2009 4:05PM
XD Yay, my video got mentioned!

Yeah it works, I tried it last night, and he runs around like crazy with a little heart over his head. Then he comes back with a broken heart over his head. Poor guy. I am so glad that they don't aggro because they ran out of the room and they also ran right into Patchwerk. Overall, it is pretty funny!

What's fun is having everyone pull out Stinkers and black cats while doing 25Maly. They'll run all over the stage, blissfully unaware of the chaos and explosions around them.
Kolo Feb 8th 2009 7:43PM
LOL yes I did Maly with them out. Might explain why I died first, was distracted :p

And since patch 3.0.8 Frosty is really really tiny. :S Dont know if this was an intended change but its not mentioned anywhere. And most of my flying vanity pets still fly close to the ground, this should have been fixed a few patches ago nah? :S
Eddy Feb 8th 2009 9:24PM
Yeah, I saw a bunch of them work at a higher altitude for a little while, and then stop working.

warcraftpets.com had this news for a while now. Being the fickle player that I am, the novelty already wore off and I'm currently towing Peddlefoot everywhere (with the pet food heart above his head) on my Druid for V-day, then its back in the vault with him too, and some other pet will get its turn.
I really want that deer. 66 pets... argh! so close, so far away.

Old news is old.

I didn't know this... of course I never really favoured the skunk.. I liked my proto dragon pet.
(Note: never give it a hummus papa bisquit... it flies up into the sky when you move and does not come back).
