Your competition being AFK means you're first in line -- when a friend in high school says "Hold my spot" in the lunch line and doesn't come back before you're up to pay the cafeteria lady, do you keep holding the spot or move through with your food? You move through.
And even if you think the other person deserves it more, what are you going to do, stand there and hope a third hunter doesn't show up before Mr. AFK can come back and claim the beast? That'd be ridiculous.
She did the right thing, nabbing it, and now the orc shouldn't have such intense competition for the next spawn (I hope).
