Death Grip wormhole is a bad, bad thing

The boys over at DeathKnight.info confirm the same thing, not only because it is under close watch by GMs, but because it has serious repercussions for players who are 'pulled' into the wormhole. Players with the temerity to try it out have reported getting stuck in limbo and had to submit tickets to get their characters unstuck. No doubt a deluge of tickets describing suspiciously similar circumstances was more than enough to raise alarms over at Blizzard. So while we enjoyed showing that video of the Death Grip bug, we hope you didn't follow such bad examples. I mean, you didn't, right? Of course not. Good boys and girls.

Yea... I had great fun for all of two hours before a GM contacted me with a strict warning. It was fun while it lasted, getting to play as Super-Sending-People-Flying-Guy (tm).

People should get their friends to queue them for BG's if they're stuck in limbo. They have friends... right?
Jostin Feb 10th 2009 12:28AM

fun thing to note, if you fall off of land tht doesn't exist because your hearth bugs and you fall forever then die, reappear at a spirit healer, but theres no ground beneath you so that you fall and die again, if that happens you keep dying forever, and cannot rez or enter a battleground as far as i am aware
sladedarkonis Feb 9th 2009 7:11PM
lol, jeez let us have some fun!
Robodin Feb 9th 2009 7:19PM
And this is a surprise.. how?
I've spent most of the evening in Stranglethorn Vale doing old quests for the Loremaster, and every time I came through Booty Bay, there was a level 58 Death Knight named Chucker, Offyougo, Lolpunter etc sitting on the docks waiting for the boat to arrive so they could throw a lowbie across the world. In the end I set up a macro to let players in General chat know, that the bug existed & that they should be careful if going on the boat to Ratchet - especially if there was a Death Knight around.
Still think it was brilliant, that Wowinsider made a post detailing a bug exploit the day after they made a post saying "Bug exploiting is bad, mkay?". Great idea for an official fansite to do that
lowep Feb 9th 2009 7:27PM
@Robodin
WoW Insider is not an official fansite just fyi
Azhariel Feb 9th 2009 7:28PM
WoW Insider is not an official fansite. :'(

"Great idea for an official fansite to do that "
As others have stated, they are NOT an official fansite, and now we know why.
:)
As a side note, the comments here FURTHER demonstrate how "sociable" "normal" and "nice" people on PVP servers are. Because exploiting this bug had EVERYTHING to do with one of the following BS excuses for being a "doosh" on a PVP server. I'm sure of it:
-"if it's red, it's dead"
-"It's WARcraft
-That's what PVP servers are all about
-It's implied consensual
-It goes along with the lore
-It's a gameplay mechanic
-If they didn't want you to do it, then...oh nvm.

Oh freaking wow... What is wrong with you?
Just. Wow.
Antiste Feb 15th 2009 4:44PM
You know, 3 poster above me seems to have missed Pope Jamal's point which was:
These excuses are BAD excuses for being a jerk. Not good - bad.
Is it clearer now Tiger, Karliyn and Ashvoyager?
Thyago Feb 10th 2009 8:24AM
A jerk on a PvP server...
I'm really sorry for all of you who are normal, but that hardly comes as a surprise nowadays.
Codexx Feb 10th 2009 2:19AM
I wish they'd just leave it be. If there is an issue with it, such as some form of exploit, I'd like them to come out and say there is some form of proper exploit. It's all in good fun, as far as I know, there's no harm being caused. You can see outside of the game world, whoopdie freaking doo.
jurandr Feb 9th 2009 7:20PM
well, it was DEFINITELY fun while it lasted. I had a blast launching guards and even a player off into the twisting nether.
Fujikawa Feb 9th 2009 7:21PM
Oh, to be brutally honest here, there wasn't a single Horde who managed to get 5 steps beyond the dock. All were pulled into the abyss.
I rolled a DK as soon as I heard and I was up all night throwing people into nothingness. Amazing fun and great distraction from my Baron grind... (53 times and counting).
Esoteroth Feb 9th 2009 10:22PM
Gl with the baron grind I did it 234 times before i gave up
thorie Feb 9th 2009 7:21PM
Instead of fixing their ferrying system (seriously, I have no idea how putting a ship in the bottom of Alterac Mountains is a good idea) they will just decide to ban anyone who attempts to see it for themselves. Sort of like Old Ironforge eh?
Back when the game was made in 2004, and technology wasn't quite so advanced, perhaps this was a good idea. But now we're in great 2009, and why hasn't the old world been fixed yet? This is like playing pac-man in it's original graphics, then when you enter world 2 everything gets colorful and 3-D amirite?
Tuhljin Feb 9th 2009 9:52PM
Because fixing bugs is always easy and instantaneous?
Fancylad Feb 9th 2009 7:27PM
Heh, I spent a good deal of time yesterday handing out free aerial tours of the Eastern Kingdoms, courtesy of Deathgrip airlines after advertising it in Orgrimmar's trade chat and luring anyone who expressed interest to the boat. I also extended my services to any passing Alliance, even though they didn't ask for it. :D
