Larger default backpack "very possible" in the future

I've sort of grown out of whining about the little itty bitty default backpack simply because it's been there forever, but I'll be absolutely stoked if they ever let it scale or let you replace it with a bigger bag. Eyonix says that we should be proud of our trusty 16 slot, and I suppose that's sort of true. It's been with me through Molten Core and Ahn'Qiraj, through Naxxramas and the Black Temple and all of that jazz, but to be honest? It's getting kind of gross. It has developed a stench. I think it's been coated in slime and ichor a few too many times. If I could finally toss it out, that would be just great.

Heh, who needs bag space anyways?

Packrats like me, who collect everything they find, keep nice lowlevel questrewards around and carry whole array of different pots, scrolls, reagents and some alternate armor with them everywhere, "just in case". ;P
On a sidenote, reading through the article and comments, noone seems to remember that the default backpack was still a 12 slot a few months ago (and was like that from the beginning of WoW).

If they let me put a Gigantique Bag on that slot I'll be a happy person.

Should have a quest to upgrade it at level 80 ;D
jlpknights82 Feb 9th 2009 9:25PM
I'd be fine with that as long as it didn't involve any dang Heroics. Ugh

No what will happen is in the PTR Blizz will have some awesome quest line, but end up dumping it in favor of a Gold cost : /
pwkalt1 Feb 10th 2009 4:12AM
What? That's absurd! Blizzard would never do something like that!
/rolleyes

While they're at it, could we get a few new colors? My Paladin really wants a pretty pink backpack. And a pony. Oh, wait, he got the pony. So just the backpack.

My backpack is glued to my back!

This can be read one or two ways:
1) You can buy a special upgrade from Dalaran for 10,000g
2) There will be a pattern drop in Uludar with insane mats that will cost 10,000g on the auction house
:p

Or it will scale with level...

Let us add pockets to our backpack, pockets with a few slots for specific items (mining, cooking, poisons, fishing, shards, totems)
MightyMuffin Feb 9th 2009 11:04PM
Although the adding of pockets is new, the idea of having a backpack separated into different sections for different things seems...familiar...
I think the first time I ever saw something like that...was in Pokémon...way too long ago...

Try downloading "Combuctor." It allows you to search your bags, along with click buttons to filter by "Quest Items", "Weapons", and further filter each category by item type. "Green", "Blue", etc.

If tailors could sew pockets onto our backpack and just have it increase the amount of slots it has; id be happy

On the "accidentally deleting" issue, maybe they could make the backpack like a hearthstone. If you trash your hearthstone "by accident" you can pick up another from any innkeeper. Only one to a customer though (i.e. Unique). Make the backpack slot unbound so you can put anything in there, but in the event somebody trashes theirs, they can pick up a new one at any innkeeper for free (and of course, it would have no vendor value).

@dawnseven : a more foolproof method would be :
unallow the removal of the default backpack, except when you attempt to replace it with another bag.
