Man arrested for assaulting girl he met in World of Warcraft
Here's an unfortunate World of Warcraft mention in the news: a man has been arrested and charged with all sorts of terrible things for having a relationship with a 14-year-old girl that he originally met in Azeroth. Daniel Joseph Czelusniak is 23 and from North Royalton, Ohio, and is being held by Pennsylvania State Police after having a relationship with the girl last year, meeting at a hotel and her house. He originally met her four years ago (when she was 10 but apparently claimed she was 14) while they were both playing World of Warcraft.Of course, this is hardly the game's fault: parents of young children need to closely supervise their activity online while they're doing anything, be it browsing the Internet or fighting dragons in Northrend. WoW itself is rated T by the ESRB, which means no children under the age of 13 should really be playing it without parental supervision anyway, and the added online component of the game should be even more of a red flag for anyone overseeing younger children. This is a great game (and you couldn't find a nicer community of people who play it), but there are the same dangers in this environment as anywhere else your child might go online.

^ EXACTLY.
Even when I was 10 I had the common sense to not give out any real life information on the internet.

Society just can't make it out of the 90s.

Seems to me that if she indeed told him she was 14 when they first met, and they met irl 4 years later I'd think the guy was actually waiting. And stop being so fucking hypocritical, I could go find a pick of 14 year old girl that would make most male leaders very happy if you know what I mean. Pedos are attracted to prepubescent children, and nowadays 14 year old girl is anything but prepubescent.
Don't be so quick to blame the guy, calling him creep and pedo. I met this girl last summer who I thought to be about 18 from her looks, turns out she was 13 so you can't really tell persons age from looks alone.

You missed the key!
When they met IRL, he found out she was 14, and THEN had sex with her.

Here, I thought some girl got beat up.
Turns out it was just trumped up charges. "Sexual assault"? Ugh, law. All that happened was consensual statutory rape. Before you go wiggy on how that's some kind of oxymoron, just remember that almost every statutory rape committed is consensual by both/all parties involved - it is merely a term used to describe the law which is broken. Blame the wording on the fail lawmakers.

I'm really starting to think you've got a date with Chris Hansen waiting for you judging by your assy comments all over this story.

It's not that I think the guy was in the right, or that what he did was cool or something - not at all. But if it were not for parents and young girls like their daughter in this world, there wouldn't be a problem with -consensual- encounters such as this one. Sure there would be the creepy kidnapper/stalker/rapist types, but the fact remains there are far too many underage kids running around wanting and trying, to have sex with adults. The world is a sick place, but it's not just the lawbreakers adding to this disease.

I have a somewhat unique perspective on this--I met my current girlfriend on Blizzard's last smash hit, Starcraft. AT the time, I was a freshman in College, and she a freshman in High school. We were 'good friends' for a few years before we realized we had more invested in the budding relationship than that. The difference, of course, was that she and I were open about our age (and the difference of 4 years therein), and we both agreed to not meet until AFTER she was of consenting age. With her father and my father present. She is now in college herself now, close to where I live and we're still quite happy in our relationship.
From that perspective, I'd say it's pretty much everyone's fault. The guy CHOSE to have sex with a minor, she CHOSE to allow the contact to proceed, and her parents hadn't warned and taught her of the dangers of meeting people online (a hurdle I STILL have to overcome with my girlfriend's parents). Looking back, one of mine and my girlfriend's chief concerns was making sure that EVERYTHING was proper and above board. Granted, we would occasionally sign off of Battle.net with a "*kiss*" message after we'd decided to explore the deeper emotional connection, but aside from that our concerns were that neither she nor I become embroiled in PRECISELY this sort of stupidity. There is plenty of blame in this sad tale to pass around. It's unfortunate that the girl will likely forever have to bear the mistrust of her parents, the guy won't be able to live within 1000 yards of a school in most states, and the parents will live with the guilt of "Why didn't I teach her better?" whenever they think about this incident. Everyone loses in my book.

OK, little question here: precisely how is a FOURTEEN year old spending enough 'alone' time with anyone unknown to the parents to have regular sex with him?

Why are these news here...? Are you nuts?
By the way, where are the pictures?

Girl's fault for misrepersenting her age.
Guy thought she was 18 before meeting her.
He then was a retard and still decided to go for it when finding out she was 14.
He goes to jail because he's obviously an idiot.
She is probably not allowed to use the internet again for 4 years.
Both are out of WoW
Profit!
