WoW Moviewatch: The Paladin's Way of William
We're getting this week off to a great start with something unusual. William Wallace created The Paladin's Way of William. He has some language barriers, being originally from the Chinese servers. However, the simple and beautiful images he's created easily transcend language, and I think has something to appeal to everyone.
The first half of the movie is hand illustrated, and that's the part that really knocked my socks off. The simple and elegant drawings, painting, and purity of movement does a great job of telling a hopeful and melancholy tale. At it's heart, the story of a cheese vendor who dreams of being a Paladin. I'm not sure I would have gotten that without being told, but the story of common-man-dreaming-to-be-more is clear and obvious.
The last half of the movie involves in-game graphics. I can understand why that happens, and how it portrays important pieces of the story. (Not to mention, qualifies the "Paladin's Way" as being machinima.) Still, the manual art was so beautiful, I found the transition a little jarring.
Overall, this was a great piece, and a wonderful way to start the week.

Aww. That was a really sweet video. I think the transition between the art and the ingame stuff was actually done rather well. The creator ramped up the drawings that came just before the ingame video, so you could tell it was moving in that direction. I really liked it! Just wish the language barrier wasn't there, so I could understand what's going on in the second half a bit better. :P

I believe the second part (after William fights Rivendare and so) it's just the credits or something like "Special thanks for my guild... yadda yadda.... for being so nice... yadda yadda".
Anyway, I love that video, it's pretty cool. It makes me want to roll a paladin... a third paladin.

Great video!
The illustration was very nice, and kept me interested...the second half needs some work in my opinion (which doesn't matter) the music just trails off while the action builds up, odd.
I would rate:
100% on 1st half
60% on 2nd half

What tabard is he wearing in the credits? Looks like a horde tabard of some sort...

I believe it's the League of Arathor tabard for getting to exalted with them (Arathi Basin) and doing some kind of quest.

Great vid, I loved the animation. Nicely done, don't care that I can't understand the stuff in Chinese (I'm assuming Chinese? My apologies for my ignorance.), really great work.

I eally enjoyed this! Now for the hard part. The credit's song is really good as well even if I cannont understand it. Is there any way of finding out its name or the artist so that I can find more music by them.

The song at the end is actually Japanese even though the credits appear to be in Chinese. I don't know by who, though, but at least it's a start in the right direction!

Simply awesome. Beautiful color palette and great mood. Love the hand-drawn animation. I could feel the characters longing for adventure. Too cool. Down with Machinima. Up with more traditional animation!

Wonder what song that is when the credits are rolling..
Anywho! Love the animation! :D
