Love is almost in the air, but the
Lunar Festival isn't over yet. Have you gotten your Elder title yet? The Lunar Festival is technically the first world event of the year, although I'm pretty sure some of you already have your
Hallowed and
Merrymaker titles. Some of us got a head start on this latest event, like myself. I found out I'd completed the continents when I did them last year, when I hoarded
Festival Dumplings. This made it considerably easier for me to complete this Achievement.
Don't forget that the event is about to end, so if you plan on going after that
nice mount, you're going to have to
complete this Achievement because at 6am server time this Thursday. I always wished that the Outlands had this, too, but I guess alien continents don't celebrate
Chinese New Year the Lunar Fesitval. Have you completed the Achievement? Did you even bother? Some of you probably even finished it on multiple characters. Anything interesting happen this year? What did you buy with your coins? I certainly had fun getting the
Elders of the Alliance. I'm sure Alliance characters had fun doing
Elders of the Horde, too, even if only to visit Thunder Bluff's
newest elder. Let's bid the Lunar Festival a fond farewell with our experiences thus far.

Nope haven't had much time to get these done. I have been working on regearing the priest for shadow since blizz doesn't really seem to give the love to holy priests, while leveling the pally for healz at the same time.

I was doing all of the holidays as they came up, and I have the merrymaker and hallowed titles. Between holidays I've been leveling. I enjoy questing, so I haven't been in a huge hurry to burn to 80. Then I find out that you have to be 80 to get all of the elders, so I've been playing EVE ever since.

Best way to pick up the Moonglade flight master for my new alt :) I love those dresses you can buy for coins although i pretty much skipped this event this year except for some little fireworks

I just got my title last night. I had to wander around gundrak after my group left without killing the last heroic boss and just getting the daily complete.

I knocked this one out by the second day. I really want that mount so I'm trying to stay as on top of things as I can. Hopefully the RNG doesn't screw me over on some of the upcoming ones for Valentine's Day or further down the road for that matter.

Love is in the Air starts tomorrow and god I am not ready, you have a week to do __ achievements that are all based off LUCK I'll try my best to get them all done, but it isn't that likely...
Brandisis Feb 10th 2009 8:19AM
I got my elder title pretty quickly when the event started. I'm not looking forward to the Love Is In The Air event, what with the short amount of time that's given to do everything. Hopefully it won't be too much work.
BTW. The best way to get all the coins is to find a high level person with a mammoth mount and hitch a ride. He supplied the mount and I supplied the "Path of Frost" so he could get around on any water.

Got mine 2 days into it, just did a marathon of the elders. Helps that I'm a druid so I could solo many of the dungeon elders.
On a side note, I'll be out of town for nearly the entire duration of "Love is in the Air", so I'll be waiting till next February to get my proto drake.
Jamesisgreat Feb 10th 2009 11:04AM
Ditto - us druids are great aren't we ;)
I soloed everything apart from heroic Gundrak (we're not that great unfortunately), Utgarde Pinnacle (used someones saved dungeon - cheeky but I'm lazy) and Azjol (2 manned the first boss with a DPS warrior).
So all in all I'm quite pleased with myself. I just wish they'd have introduced something worthwhile to buy with the 75 coins - a pet omen maybe? I guess they're just going to sit in my bank for a year now, just in case.....

I got the title. Elders of the Horde wasn't too bad, I walked right in and out of Org and UC with no problems, and TB got a little dicey, but it got really entertaining when I bubble jumped off the bluff only to have a horde player jump after me. I made it through the capitals with ease. The horde territory elder that I died three times trying to get? Brill.

want that mount!
lsschwartz Feb 10th 2009 8:35AM
Got it on my main a couple days into the festival, but didn't even try going for it for my alts. I've decided to complete all achievements for the mount on my main only or else I'd have time for nothing else when the festivals were in town.
Too bad I didn't decide this earlier as turns out I missed hallowed on my main and did it on one of my alts instead.
doug Feb 10th 2009 8:35AM
I got the title, but it took me about 5 days to get a group into heroic gundrak. The thing that snagged me was all the alliance rep. Looking forward to a guide on the next holiday...

I gave up on achivements. They were holding me back from experiencing other parts of the game. I was doing the holiday achievements to get a free epic flyer. Then I found out, if you didn't have brewfest done, you would be waiting an extra year while getting an alcoholic bev. in your mailbox month to month. Achievements, in general, are more than likely by accident, or what you are "Suppose" to do in the game. Play your character enough, and you are probably going to get them. Also, I received my epic mount in Heroic CoS. No need to do the achivements anymore. If you reply "I should do achievements because of titles", I'm not big into titles. Best of luck to the rest of you.
Will Feb 10th 2009 9:08AM
You were going to wait a year to get your "free" epic flyer instead of paying the paltry 200g on top of the 5000g you'd saved?
I think you've missed the point entirely of achievements and going for something unique. A large percentage of achievements require conscious effort on the player's part, though there are plenty for doing things like level, buy bank slots, beat dungeons, etc. There are just as many "do x during encounter y" or difficult collection achievements with very special rewards. If titles and mounts really don't do it for you, then I'm glad for your sake that Naxx is such an easy raid instance, or I'd worry they didn't put enough content in the game to keep you excited if you've chosen to ignore this new system entirely.
Majingshi Feb 10th 2009 10:02AM
I'm not saying I hate the achievemnts. And yes there are some that take effort. But there is no real beneficial reward. Mounts are cosmetic. Helpful...but you only need one. I think you have missed the point of my topic. I'm not bored with the game. And I haven't been to Naxx yet. I've only been playing for roughly over a year. Naxx will be my 3rd raid when I complete it. I was dissapointed with archavon(sp), and the Dragon raid below the wyrmrest temple was alright. The point of my topic is, most of the rewards you recieve through achivements *Although unique----but not really because everyone can get them* are in large cosmetic in nature. When I aquire something in game, it is out of necessity(sp) and not that I have to have a proto drake. I have my epic flyer. I got it for free. I don't have to worry about doing achievemnents for one, or spending gold.
