Breaking: Consumable ammunition will not be removed in patch 3.1
Ancilorn, a new blue community team member over on the EU forums, just posted that despite the recent announcement, patch 3.1 will not remove consumable ammunition.According to Ancilorn, they "still fully intend to move forward with this change when the additional functionality becomes available." To me that means Blizzard needs to do some serious recoding to make the change work, and it's cool that they're letting us know they're still going to do it.
Ancilorn also lets us know the following points:
- Patch 3.1 will remove the need for pouches/quivers
- Arrows and Bullets will have their stack size greatly increased.
- Haste bonuses from pouches/quivers will be preserved in another fashion.
Angry baby called. He wants his change back!

Eh, good thing i do not play a hunter.
sorry to hear the bad news tho, friends.
:(

It's not bad news...
It's just Delayed Gratification.

Delay also means engineers can continue to actually do the 1 think they might make money at (sorry maybe 2, the random combat shotgun request every 2 weeks).
Maybe the delay is more in the realm of how can we screw engineers a little more for 3.1 and not take heat for it.
All seriousness aside, I hope they are also firming up the short/mid term replacement objects, since I assume the arrows will drop in Ulduar, but not everyone will just be cruising into that place on day 1.
I would also agree that it would seem that 3.1 is much closer than previously thought, especially since the Holy Pallies already got their regen nerf when none of the other casters did.

lol Ammo selling. Engineers have one of the best gathering skills in the game with their trusty zapthrottle

@rewind -
That's a good idea, I HOPE the games new, best arrows (when they are no longer consumed and Ulduar hits) are drops in there! Would keep all these Engineers from bitching (seriously, you can farm clouds, and if making blue arrows/bullet were your main income, then your doing something horribly wrong) for a while for sure. And I know on day 1, I would be in there hoping for the drop! But really, how long did they think we would buy Blue quality ammo? There was blue and 2 epic quality rep ammo before (Honor Hold/Cenerian Expo & The Violet Eye/Sands of Time rep), and I STILL use my Timeless ammo from Hyjal now, since stocking up on this other stuff is pointless.
I can't wait to see what drops now...the new cross bows look kind of...well it's a face. And the idea of epic ammo is nice.

@rewind,
3.1 is finished at least according to wowinsider, though none of the
morons here ever bring that up.
http://www.wowinsider.com/2008/10/10/new-details-on-upcoming-3-x-patches/
We are all left to infer that the major content is done and that only
the class changes that came up since 3.0.2 and beyond are getting
fixed.

also @ rewind,
I'm not sure if it's cute that you may have thought the divine plea was the incoming pally regen nerf, or that it's funny that you think saying it will make it so.
Either way I will relish your sweet tears when they actually do something to prevent pallies from rocking into arena with pure PvE gear and 25k mana pools with an SV hunter to lolspam FoL for 30 mins.

@Robert M,
I think most people overlook that announcement due to recent events - there has been nothing but hot air to suggest that Blizz are anything like 6 months head in their development. We all know 3.0.8 was rushed, 3.0.8a (and what was it, 3+ hotfixes?) was indisputably rushed, and although I'm not aware of any bugs in it yet, 3.0.9 so quickly "feels" rushed.
Saying 3.1 was finished 4 months ago was misleading, at best.

PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD STOP POSTING THIS PICTURE!!!
This baby is an abomination and every time I see it, I want to punch it. It seriously makes me uneasy for like 2-3 hours every time after I see it.
Palatel Feb 10th 2009 12:27PM
Hahahahahahhaahha!
hmmm Feb 10th 2009 12:27PM
That could mean 3.1 is closer than we think?
Flairy Feb 10th 2009 12:47PM
This is what I have been thinking ever since the announcement of 3.0.9

Can warlocks get something similar plz? After all that we have had to deal with, this is the least we can get...
Lab Monkey Feb 10th 2009 12:38PM
I don't mind the soul shard mechanic but please oh please LET THEM STACK!
rosencratz Feb 10th 2009 1:14PM
I'm certain that Locks are going to get a change to their soul sharding ways as it's unlikely we'll be left as the only people left to lose a bag slot for being the class we are but i hope ANY changes to the soul shard mechanic are in the name of making the class more interesting,dynamic and fun not just for baggage if so i'd rather leave as it is.
I've been playing my lock for years now, for four years in fact, bag space is managable easily, it'd be a shame to waste dev-time on giving me a dozen slots i haven't needed before for loot to sit in... I could use it to carry more hats i suppose.
Additionally i hope it's not to simply make the things stackable. The people who want them to stack for reasons better than "more storage space" claim they want that because they run out all the time and that they hate farming for them.... how would making them stack make any difference? You'll still hate farming them.... they'll still run out... The only change would be to make your farming sessions less frequent but far longer and running out even more dreadfull and frustrating.
Kyol Feb 10th 2009 1:28PM
The impression I got about the soul shard situation is that they're removing the "and the mob must die while under the effect of soul drain" limitation - so midfight you realize you need a shard, you start draining et voila: shard. So you don't have to put the raid on hold when you run out, you just drain the boss and refill ahoy.
Yeng Feb 10th 2009 1:54PM
I disagree with rosencratz. I would love to have my bag space back, I never seem to have enough space and end up having to throw things away during a run and such. So soul shard stacking would indeed be for the extra bag space. And on the side note, never having the shards is not even an issue now that DS is a real part of the DPS rotation.
bckwrds Feb 10th 2009 12:27PM
that makes me sad :(
Todd Feb 10th 2009 12:28PM
Aww
Todd Feb 10th 2009 12:29PM
Guess this means 3.1 must be coming pretty soon?
