Inner Fire less annoying in patch 3.0.9
I've been out of the office more than I've been in this week due to moving into a new place, so I haven't had a chance to gush about this yet: Holy crap, they actually made Inner Fire unable to be dispelled. Moreover, it has a 30 minute duration! That's just beautiful, even if it still has the Charges mechanic.Inner Fire is pretty great, and it does its job well. Usually. The big issue with the spell was that it had so many hooks and drawbacks. Short duration, limited charges, and able to be dispelled. That's about two hooks too many. I don't mind keeping the Charges around because the spell supplies a massive amount of armor (for a cloth class.) I'm okay with making a Priest be careful about keeping it up at all times in PvP. In PvE, the 10 minute duration is just a nuisance and in PvP some random melee will burn away the charges in less than its full duration anyway. It was just an annoyance all around and a very unnecessary hook.
Inner Fire probably should have been unable to be dispelled right from the point they did it for Mages and Warlocks, but better late than never. That Enhancement Shaman will just need to swing his weapons a little longer to get rid of your Inner Fire, instead of just spam Purge to shut you down. To me, this is a good thing. To the Shaman... perhaps not so good.

Joy the Shaman gets dissed again :(
Deadlock Feb 10th 2009 2:08PM
Sorry, we all hate you guys because you're the only class that managed to avoid the healer nerfs!

OMG.... the shaman QQ's again.
Over
The
stupidest
thing
in
the
world....
So what you cant instantly purge a priest down to nothing. You can still purge our fort, DS (assuming its a disc priest), shadow prot, fear ward, and any other buffs that we get from our teammates.
Go cry about something worthwhile.

GOOD LORD.
I have PvPed in this game since beta and of all the uneven matchups in the game that have ever existed, Enhancement Shaman vs Holy or Disc priest is the MOST ridiculous. (Yes, even more ridiculous than Warrior vs Mage during 1.5)
You can spam one button and a priest will actually NEVER beat you in PvP.
If you aren't a total spaz; if you have one iota of skill, priests are an instant kill.
As a priest I accept this, when I see Purge's wavy lines appear and a shaman is running towards me I know I'm going to die - I accept that the game isn't balanced 1v1 and just take my inevitable beating like a brave Troll.
All my shaman playing friends agree.
A melee class with a a silence /interrupt on 6 second cooldown and a cheap, Global CD offensive Dispel vs a class who's only defense mechanics involve self buffs.
I really dislike posting inflammatory remarks like this but I'll lay out this simple, caps-tastic ultimatum:
IF AS AN ENHANCEMENT SHAMAN YOU WEREN'T WINNING 100% OF YOUR FIGHTS AGAINST HEALING PRIESTS IN LESS THAN 15 SECONDS YOU SUCK THE BIG ONE.
Holgar Feb 10th 2009 2:46PM
Yea Shaman vs Holy or disc priest equals dead priest..... not least because Windfury is still overpowered with 2 1hs.....
Frogh Feb 10th 2009 6:23PM
Uhhh Elemental = Gank food
lol, geez you guys are QQing

Why is this post downrated? Purge is one of the few useful abilities, although I agree that this is a minor thing for shaman it still makes a fair point.

I love that it adds spell damage now- but the 10 minute duration sucked when I was healing an instance. 100+ spell power is a lot.
jesse Feb 10th 2009 2:08PM
very nice, 10 min was very annoying
ryan Feb 10th 2009 2:16PM
ok now do this to water shield
phatin Feb 10th 2009 2:17PM
About time. Now if only the could make powerword shield undispellable, or atleast make it so it needs to be dispelled with a mass dispel.
Johnzim Feb 10th 2009 2:28PM
That would make us obscenely overpowered.
kworry Feb 10th 2009 3:21PM
@Johnzim
I don't think it wouldn't make priests OP at all. Melee dps can beat through a shield in a heartbeat. Remember, it only absorbs 2230 damage (without talents). My druid's first mangle does more than that.
Eisengel Feb 10th 2009 3:32PM
Yes.. even though we can be stunned in Dispersion, our Fear is the weakest out there, it makes sense to allow our signature escape/damage prevention ability available to all specs to be dispelled.
Less caustically... if Mages' Ice Block was dispellable and Rogues' Cloak was dispelable. Hell, even if Paladins' bubbles were simple dispelable (and not Mass), it would be equitable. This isn't the case though, all of our escapes and damage prevention abilities can be removed, and removed pretty easily at that.
The only caveats are up in the trees. I don't play Disc, so I don't know about Pain Suppression, and I don't know how Guardian Spirit works in PvP, but most of our more available abilities for PvP are pretty weak and breakable.
Morkeliph Feb 10th 2009 2:18PM
This change doesn't help priests as much as the Mutilate nerf does. lol
phatin Feb 10th 2009 2:19PM
Oh, and that guy sitting inbetween the snake of flames, looks just like Edward Norton.
RogueJedi86 Feb 10th 2009 2:23PM
Question: Does the nin-dispellable bits mean Mages will be unable to spellsteal it too? Or does spellsteal count as a different mechanic than dispel?
Joshua Meadows Feb 10th 2009 2:24PM
Thank god they changed this, it's just so freaking obnoxious.
I wish they removed the charge mechanic personally, but I'll make due with not needing to recast it every ten minutes.
Antonia Feb 10th 2009 2:25PM
Yeah.. not seeing this really meaning your survive in pvp any longer.. sorry
Johnzim Feb 10th 2009 2:31PM
Get 800+ Resilience.
Yep. It sucks but Blizzard has balanced us assuming we have access to Savage/Hateful Gladiator Gear.
We are balanced at that level, it's just an absolute pain to reach it while getting killed every 3 seconds until we're there.
