Love is in the Air begins tomorrow
Love is in the Air everywhere I look around.
Love is in the Air every sight and every sound.
And I don't know if I'm being foolish, don't know if I'm being wise. But it's something I must believe in, and it's there when I look in your eyes.
Tomorrow will mark the start of the Love is in the Air season event. Theoretically, from past events, it should start around 4:00 a.m. sever time. But whether or not that ends up being true, you'll have to check for yourself.
You'll need to get finish the achievement Fool for Love in order to get the ultimate seasonal achievement What A Long, Strange Trip It's Been. The thing is... you only have a few days to get Fool For Love, so hurry up. The seasonal event ends early next Monday morning.
Ideally you'll want to set aside some time tomorrow night; you don't want to be waiting until Saturday evening to do this. Unless, you know, you and your significant other are into that sort of thing. (I'm talking about playing WoW together. Jeeze... get your mind out of the gutter. You don't think I'm just going to sit here and make gratuitous Valentine's Day jokes for the rest of the week, do you?)
So what are you waiting for?
"AFK honey, need to become a fool for love."

Another pointless topic that I was hoping would be the walkthrough for this event...
Adam Holisky Feb 10th 2009 11:14AM
The walkthrough is coming soon. It's quite hard to make the walkthrough, to our standards, when we don't have access to the actual event. But nonetheless, soon. Very soon.

I too have been waiting for the walk-through, but I am not about to get quite as nasty as you.
Don't bite the hands that feed you.
Arkangell Feb 10th 2009 11:16AM
Yeah, I assumed it would be. My apologies on the comment, after I posted and read it, it seemed quite rude. /Fail on my part, sorry!

"'nonetheleen'
haha"
Yeah, that was a pretty good mistake. But because I'm arguing with a sever over uploading the patch files for mirror for everyone, I'm okay with making a typo.

"nonethelees"
You did it again.

Care for some cheese with that whine?

@Fiztaru: If you would learn how to read fully, you would see that I apologized, get off your high horse.

For all your guidey goodness. To be honest, you don't need to wait for the event to write a guide - it's more or less exactly the same as last year, only with less exploitation on account of the gifts and pledges being soulbound.

Is there a walk-through in the works? My other half doesn't play :(
Hoping to maximize the short time Ill get online this weekend. Certainly going to be upset if I don't, I'm on par for the Long Strange trip so far, and would hate to miss out
thanks in advance for your help WI

Zuldim Feb 10th 2009 11:21AM
Greeeeeeeeeat, I'll have 2 days to do all of this because I'm going somewhere for the weekend. This will be tough.
Veliaf Feb 10th 2009 11:55AM
Yep, after Friday I'm screwed. And my guild doesn't raid Naxx, either.
Thorbar Feb 10th 2009 11:30AM
It's nice to see people taking responsibility for their actions.
I wish I could meet them in game, it would be refreshening to speak with more mature people. And yes I am guilty of being immature also. :(

This will be the first event I won't be going far. So far since the achievements came out I got all of them done (mostly out of pure boredom, wasn't even shooting for the drake). But this event it just way too short to get done for me. Considering I have classes tomorrow, classes on thursday and am nowhere near my pc from friday until monday I would have two evenings to get it done. Impossible in my book, especially considering my classes are early in the morning so I need to catch some sleep.
Quite bummed about not being able to do this one, but oh well, such is life.
P.S.: Dear Blizzard,
Please make the Love is in the Air event longer? Pwetty pwease wit sugah on tawp? O:-)

If you click the wowhead link, and then click through to the achievement, you can at least seem to find a little information. It would appear, from what I read, that:
1) You and your friends can save your love fools from gifts of adoration which, as in previous years, come from any city and giving any NPC (as long as you have the right scent on and they have a heart above their head. Wearing cologne will let you give tokens to females, wearing perfume will help you give it to males. If you are on an RP server and you really can't envision your female character wearing cologne and seducing the guards of Darnassus, for example, you CAN still trade for the lesser guard cards and lesser gifts, but Gifts of Adoration are BOP. You'll need to find a male, easiest to find in the Cenarian section of town. Likewise, for men, look ahead of time to where there's females in Ironforge if you don't want to use perfume.) ...er... I don't think that parenthesis even counted because it was so long. Sorry. But...
2) The Gift of Adoration is Bind-on-Pickup this year (no trading for picnic baskets or Peddlefeet anymore) and has a chance to have a love fool in it. It is received by the FIRST NPC of the hour you approach after your adoration debuff wears off. Unless they break your heart, in which case a friend with a bracelet can make all the difference. Fortunately, there is also seems to be an achievement fo curing people with Friendship Bracelets, so you may be able to ask in general with your location if someone would be kind enough to cure you, and they'll be getting an achievement done as well. :)
2) If like previous years, the love fool acts just like the little distraction thing that engineers can make.
3) It would appear, from the comments on wowhead, that if your friend drops a love fool, you can still /pity it in the appropiate locations and it will count. I may have read this wrong, and please, if someone knows better, correct me.
4) The 'appropiate' locations aren't QUITE as horrendous as they seem. You do not have to enter the portals of Naxxramas to be in a zone called Naxxramas. You just have to be able to get up to the platform in some fashion, whether by flying, summoned up with the stone (I don't know the level requirement on it.), or a warlock summoning you up. The third option, incidentally, if you have a couple friends and if it's advertised on trade, might end up being quite lucrative for said warlock. I imagine on PVP servers lower levels will have to be quick about the /pitying, and it'd be nice if warlocks didn't charge extreme amounts to bring people up as the people needing it would be lower levels and unless an alt, not having enough gold, but others may be more inclined to tip generously. I do not know if there is a zone called "Culling of Stratholme" without being in the actual instance, though, so that does put a bit of a level cap on it. Someone might be able to clear that up.
5) Sum up: It seems the best method is to keep your fools for at least the first bit until it's clear how common they are and then go to the location with friends and all /pity. That way you don't have the burden of worrying about getting enough love fools by yourself.
Minor note about the achievement in general: There are more achievements than the ones listed in the link above for Fool for Love if you want the TITLE, but fortunately the requiring to get you to luck out on getting Peddlefeet or the Lovely Black Dress from the Gift of Adoration is not part of the META achievement for the violet proto drake. I'm also not sure how valid all of the points above are until the event actually drops, but they're the best I got from researching the difficulty of it, so hopefully they help more than they hurt.

Sorry for those sick of hearing me, but for others who are concerned about "My Love is like a Red, Red Rose" it APPEARS that the red bouquets can still be gotten off the level 60 bosses. It's the EBON boquets that can only be gotten from Maiden of Grief (Halls of Stone), Prince Kelseleth (Utguarde Keep), and Prince Taldaram (Ahn'Kahet, Old Kingdom). What's nice about this as opposed to the recent elders, is there doesn't seem to be a requirement for it to be heroic, and Prince Kelseleth, anyway, is reached fairly quickly in UK so fast farming if everyone in your party wants one. People are saying that these bouqets are working for the Fistful of Love achievement, but I'm not sure if this will hold into the actual event or not. It'd be nice if we did not have to collect a bunch of petals (also from Gifts of Adoration) and could just use our roses instead, but we'll see.

Where's the guide?
