World of Warcraft 2009 Arena Tournament announced [Updated]

The tournament realm will open up next week on February 17th. The global tournament will have cash prizes over $200,000.
The tournament realms will have level 80 characters in the latest epic gear from Wrath of the Lich King. We don't know exactly what the gear is yet, but we'll let you know as soon as we have it figured out.
And perhaps the best part? - The top teams will contend for the "Vanquisher" title for their live characters.
- All participants "can earn" an Armored Murloc in-game pet for their live characters.

This is retarded that I have to sign up for some lame epeen tourney to get it. Can't effin' wait for Street Fight IV so I can start competing locally in a genre that actually warrants praise for being good at.

By participants, do they mean that you just have to sign up and play for the tournament?
This also sparks interest. I didn't plan on joining last year's tournament, but maybe this year I'll give it a try.

I was wondering this too. I have no plans on doing anything significant in the tourney, but if I could sign up and get that pet I would totally do it.

So for merely creating a char on the tourney realms and playing a game or two and thereby "participating" we get another pet?
Seems a bit stupid to me. Where is the murloc with a wizard hat for every participating pve player?
Does it cost extra to play the tourney realms?

And having seen it, I will totally participate in this just to get that pet. He's INSANELY KYOOT.

I wonder what they mean by "Can earn an armored murloc". If they mean you need to kick your way through waves of enemies to get it then I've no interest in this, however if it's a result of signing up then I'm all over signing up for this.
