WoW Moviewatch: Powerthirst
You're gonna be uncomfortably energetic!
So the video above, by Thesoultorn, leaves a bit to be desired in the animation department, but in reality it's just a mock advertisement for a World of Warcraft in-game energy drink, Powerthirst. The video gets its jobs done quite well, because I now want to go and grab some Powerthirst.
The video reminds me of the (alcoholic) energy drinks high I had during my powerleveling trip I took when Wrath released. I made plans with The Girlfriend for some rather extended and uninterrupted playtime, and I managed to get to 80 in a few days. Of course to accompany me on my journey I had two cases of Red Bull, a one-seven-five of Grey Goose, and an ample supply of tumblers.
I want more Gnomergy!
Edit: The video is a parody of the original Powerthirst by Picnicface.

Well.... actually this is a redo of a video that's been out on youtube for a while. So the quality of the animation is actually just a direct copy of the style of the original.

Uncomfortably... stolen from a Youtube video. I'm sure everyone will point out that it's a remake, but he could have at least redone the audio himself.
Mustiado Feb 10th 2009 12:09PM
And Ninja'd. Well played Carigon.
Kellerune Feb 10th 2009 12:09PM
I love watching the original power thirst with a group of friends and just laughing over all of it. This WoW version fits remarkably well. Kudos to the creator!

This video is not good at all...... not even close to being as funny as the origional........ it really is not good..... plus you should problay put up a "mature language" warning for the video in the post.
BigCheese Feb 10th 2009 12:12PM
but yea as people have said this is a redo using the audio from a video that has well been around for ages.
So not sure this guys deserves ALL the cred, please do your homework WoW Insider......

Gay kenyans...I lawled
Mindreaver Feb 10th 2009 12:16PM
take this article down, this guy basically stole an actually funny video, and remade it... poorly.
Go watch the original, I'm surprised anyone with an internet connection hasn't seen it yet.
You really should be embarrassed for thinking this is new.
Mindreaver Feb 10th 2009 12:17PM
Oh, and it's adam again. HUGE surprise. LoL, you really are terrible you know.
Adam Holisky Feb 10th 2009 12:34PM
I should be embarrassed because I haven't seen everything on the internet?
/sarcasm-on
Yeah, let me go ahead and hold my head in shame.
/sarcasm-off
But since if this was just a rip off (and I'm not making a judgment here one way or another), then obviously we should note it. As such, I'm forwarding this on to our Editor-in-Chief.
Malkavos Feb 10th 2009 12:47PM
No, you should be embarrassed because you posted it without even reading anything on its comments page, or googling powerthirst... things which would have made your error obvious
[powerthirst voice]
BEFORE YOU MADE IT.

You are also the guy who claims to have "several titanium nodes on farm", even though everyone knows that they are random spawns that can appear in the place of any saronite node.
The reason you are WoWInsider's worst contributor is because you just talk, most of the time without knowing what you're talking about.
Mindreaver Feb 10th 2009 1:01PM
You probably don't need to see everything on the internet. But most likely you should be able to identify the top 20 things in the last couple years.
BTW, I hear they make Chuck Norris jokes in WoW. New article idea?

You can think whatever you want about my writing and abilities as an editor on this site. After a year here what people think of me really doesn't concern me anymore.
What does concern me is legitimate questions about content, and I'll fully admit some of you raised legitimate questions (Albeit a few of you presented them in a way that is less than desirable. Try not doing that, you'll get much further with us).
As far as these legitimate concerns go, I've updated the article to reflect the fact that this video is a parody of another video. We're not going to be taking it down, as to us it's a legitimate parody.
Mindreaver Feb 10th 2009 1:26PM
This will be my last comment on the subject. But this isn't a parody of the powerthirst video. It IS the powerthirst audio, with poorly done (you even say it's lacking) warcraft visuals.
A parody (pronounced [ˈpɛɹədiː] US, [ˈpaɹədiː] UK, also called send-up or spoof), in contemporary usage, is a work created to mock, comment on, or poke fun at an original work, its subject, or author, or some other target, by means of humorous, satiric or ironic imitation.
Does this video meet that criteria? No. Does it meet the plagiarism criteria? Yes.
Plagiarism is the use or close imitation of the language and ideas of another author and representation of them as one's own original work.
Tazerface Feb 10th 2009 3:15PM
Why are you such a douchebag
SimpleSurvival Feb 10th 2009 2:17PM
Adam isn't worried about what you think... as long as you keep posting comments on his poorly written articles, he'll still maintain the highest comment count of all the WI writers...
But, I don't really think that Adam doesn't care what you say... otherwise he wouldn't have bothered to post a comment trying to defend himself... He could have just corrected the article and been done with it... but he had to try to argue why he was right...
The "PowerThirst" vid is old as dirt, using the audio paired with Warcraft has been done before too
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DAN6_wL5FpQ (thanks guy on 2nd page for pointing this out)
Please... do your research first, google is a click away... and stop trying to artificially increase your postcount to make your wow goldz so you can sit around the house boozing and wowing...
srsly
nihility Feb 10th 2009 12:19PM
Every repost is a repost of a repost, but this is pretty impressive. Next, the o'rly owl will be presented as new.
Siorra Feb 10th 2009 12:20PM
It's not quite the original, but the animations worked rather well I thought :)
Matt Feb 10th 2009 12:46PM
Actually powerthirst 2.0 is even better..."when your god gives you lemons....FIND A NEW GOD!!! Godberry...KING OF THE JUICEEEE." Who can forget "What if everything you ever wanted...CAME IN A ROCKET CAN!!!!" and "in new flavors like GUN!". Powerthirst has existed for quiet some time now and I still get a great laugh out of it every time.

It's definitely a remake of the Halifax group Picnicface, and proper credit should be given.
