Breakfast Topic: Love is in the Air!

Now that we all have an excuse to act like fools for love, I have to ask -- what's the most foolish thing you've done for love in-game? I know one guildie who's been busily farming the various drake pets and the Disgusting Oozling to give to his lady love in time for the season. The cheesiest I ever got was when my wife and I took off to have a nice picnic on one of the floating isles in Nagrand, complete with roses, picnic baskets, and formal wear. I don't have a lot of money in-game, so all the extravagant gifts come from my wife instead.
This time, though, I think I'm going to bake her a Delicious Chocolate Cake and maybe a Bouquet of Black Roses. I know, I'm sort of cheap and uncreative, but hey, I'd love to hear some suggestions! I can probably pick up some Achievements along the way, and I could always use some reputation gains with my wife, after all...
Love is in the Air and on WoW Insider. Check out our continuing coverage of the event and our guide to earning the achievement. And you better hurry; the holiday only lasts five days!Filed under: Events, Breakfast Topics

Probably leveling her engineer to 450 while the character only has level 72, grinding for gold for her epic flying, buying opposing faction pets at exuberant prices on neutral AH, ...

Black roses!? Please make them red.
Zach Feb 11th 2009 8:10AM
Red it is!
Neyssa Feb 11th 2009 8:42AM
Please don't buy her roses, thats so impersonal...
Instead, if you have a herbalist character go pick her some purple lotus, or just make an alt and get some peacebloom or mageroyal or something simple. I know that cannot be equipped but as a girl, I would be happier about a special flower... handpicked in a desert or in the jungle, facing all kinds of monsters to pick it just for you :)))

Purple lotuses off the AH....check.

@yeng
lol!
This is a bit off topic, but a while back on my mage I saw what I assumed to be a RL couple having a picnic in Ogrimmar. I repeatedly went invisible about 30 yards away from them, placed myself in the middle of the two of them (or as close as I could guess), and clicked off invisi and started /dancing. They just got up and moved to a new location each time, then I would wait till the invisi CD was up and do it again :)
Kind of a dick move, I know, but probably one of the only times I was able to make myself laugh in game.

I wish my boyfriend farmed the time-lost for me, that would be nice present :)
Why not buy non-combat pets as present? Buy her a kitten, or some other cutie.
If you want your girl to be happy, also, dont do the achievment - falling in love with all kind of random people and city guards? you cheater :) You cannot undo that with a simple chocolate cake...
Zach Feb 11th 2009 8:26AM
Haha. Non-combat pets are nice, but seeing as how she already has the Skunk and pretty close to getting the Fawn, I'm pretty much out of options on that end...

Romance, and the real Valentines day, makes me vomit. And yet, Love is in the Air is my favourite WoW holiday. Go figure. I love unbreaking people's hearts with Unbestowed Friendship Bracelets, and I've been enjoying sitting in Dalaran with my picnic basket so people can get the Lonely? achievement.

I think you're just not out to yourself as a romantic yet. :)

Worst event ever. Short time frame with hardly anything you can 'work towards'. It's all just luck and it's quite frustrating. Luckily I'm very close to finishing the damn thing.
To the question asked though - haven't really done anything like you lot have :P My GF only started playing in November and she's just about to ding 70 - flying to help her in Netherstorm as I type - I guess decking her out in awesome gear every chance I could. I got a lot of kicks seeing her do enourmous DPS while still being the healer in the group for instances she did :D
mitch Feb 11th 2009 8:40AM
Oh and farming for the god damn Wildheart set. She's in love with it. 6/8 pieces so far - got very lucky and got most of them first go. She's STILL using the shoulders just for looks @ level 70. I daresay she'll use them until she gets T7
>_>
Axolotl Feb 11th 2009 8:38AM
If she's not that into WOW, how about foregoing the achievements all together and take her someplace romantic and nice for real?
a week on a tropical island, no internet, no phones ... (you know the fuzzy feel of the basic arsenal of warlock spells, but then in real life)
:D

The stupidest thing I ever did for love in-game was transferring servers to be with him, only for him to dump me days later and disappear.
Neyssa Feb 11th 2009 8:55AM
A little bit offtopic: Why isn't there a carnival event? There are all kinds and it could be much more fun than Valentine. Dress up, masks, maybe a boss like the headless, only dropping masks. What you think?
vinniedcleaner Feb 11th 2009 9:05AM
and beads so we can toss them to the BE and NE females (and Taurens, if you're into that kinda thing)
Chuddy Feb 11th 2009 11:34AM
I'm game. it's not a bad idea!

It sounds silly typing it out, but it was great when it happened. My husband and I were having our 9th anniversary (we're coming up on our 11th, so we've been with the guild a while.) There was a babysitting snafu for celebrating when my mom went into the hospital. So... I arranged, with the guild's help, a wedding in game. We did it without my husband's knowledge. Guildies went and got formal clothes for themselves, a tux for my husband, a ring, a wedding dress, flowers, and lots of in game alcohol. We told him we were going to raid southshore, and then all met along the river there. He was surprised. The guildleaders - a married couple - wrote in game vows for us as a surprise. And then there was drinking and naked dancing. While it may seem silly, it was a fun way to celebrate our marriage when we couldn't go out, and something very kind our guildies did for us. By the way, I'm Cary on the Gnomeregan server, and my guild is Knights of the Shadow, formerly known as Fallen.

I met up for a date with a guildie and brought along a Strathome Lily.
May not be the most romantic flower but the effort in getting it shows that you care.
