The Queue: Change we can believe in

No no no. I'm not being political here.
The change I'm talking about is changing the game. We can all believe in changes to WoW because we're all reading a big flashy World of Warcraft news and information site. Namely change about Wintergrasp, audio settings, mob behavior, and craftables.
Except changing Paladins. They don't need any change. /snicker
MK asked...
"I was wondering if there's been any noise coming out of Blizzard regarding fixing Wintergrasp?"
Blizzard is constantly changing and modifying Wintergrasp. While there's nothing specific yet, pay close attention to the upcoming Patch 3.1 PTR Patch Notes to see what they're thinking.
I would say, however, right now their primary focus seems to be fine tuning class balance and working on Ulduar.
Synapsis asked...
"Is there a way to shut off the intro cinematic so when I'm staring at a huge queue I don't have to listen to the dragon roaring but I can still listen to my music?"
You can find the button labeled "Options" on the right hand side of your login screen. Clicking there you can get all the standard options you'd see in game for video and audio settings. Turn off the sound before you login, and then turn it back on once you've loaded your character. Of course, I just keep my sound off and listen to Smodcast.
Razariel asked...
"With mods like xperl or putbull you can see what "class" a mob is - usually warrior or paladin. What do these mean, if anything ?"
There are some basics things that I've found to be true (although I'm sure there are exceptions to disprove these). Most paladins will have a healing ability or some other magic like ability. Most warriors will do just physical damage.
Of course the thing to remember, especially for mobs in the 60 to 80 range, is that each mob really has its own quirks. Some run, some don't. Some heal, some don't. Some don't follow you very far, others will run you back to Stormwind. Either way, the only way you'll really be able to get a feel for what each mob does is to research it via WoW Head or to fight the mob a few times yourself.
Bckwrds asked...
"Is there any news regarding the modification of weapon/armor-smithing? In BC BoP weapons from weapon-smithing were really well developed, while in WotLK, they only go up to 78 blues, kinda useless."
None. The same thing I said in yesterday's Queue applies for Blacksmithing as well. Blizzard doesn't want to make any craftable items appear too good. Don't expect this to change in WotLK. Whether or not it'll change in the next expansion, well, your guess is as good as mine.
I would say however, that many of the level 80 BoE epics are quite nice. Go with those if you can't get some PvP or entry level raid ones (and even then, depending on your spec, you still might want to use a BoE crafted weapon).
And on a personal note, I'd like to see the whole crafting system reworked from the ground up to be more like EVE Online's, but that's just the sadistic hard core gamer in me.
BoB forever!

Awesome!

I was wondering, do the EULA and TOS really change each patch?
grelk Feb 11th 2009 8:52PM
Probably not greatly, but the product they are referring to does. It really is that simple - the patch is different enough that they want your legal agreement to abide by the terms of the game as played under the patch.
Tuhljin Feb 12th 2009 1:16AM
No. There is a date at the top of the text that pops up that tells you when it was last changed.

Is there anyway to reorder your list of characters on any given realm? My current main is way down the list and i'd like to move it up to the top to satisfy my personal orderlyness :)
Alavan Feb 11th 2009 8:14PM
No, but many people have been asking for this feature
Daghar Feb 11th 2009 8:14PM
This is something we've wanted for a long time. No, there currently is no way to reorder your characters on the selection screen.
Le sigh Feb 11th 2009 8:26PM
Not that I've seen but holy crap you were reading my mind!
I was just thinking that same thing earlier today. I even thought about it in my "wowinsider" reading voice. e.g. Stackable clams and reordering character creation screen list, what else will Blizz prioritize above the cower bug? (that needs to be read in a pompus blogger guy voice)

What are the best money making Dailies for Level 80's to do now? They don't seem to pay out as well as the Isle Dailies and the others we had at level 70. So far it seems the only level 70 Daily worth the time is the PvP Daily in Stonebreaker where you take the spirit towers as it pays over 13g.
AyaJulia Feb 12th 2009 3:00AM
I make about 170g/day doing Brunnhildar/Hodir/Oracle/Kalu'ak only. You could make a ton more if you did Ebon Blade too.
Quill2006 Feb 12th 2009 3:14AM
There's at least one Sons of Hodir daily that pays aprox. 16 g, and it's really quick to do all 5 (some don't show up until you get enough rep) in one go. It takes 1/2 an hour tops, and you get at least 60 gold, probably more. I haven't counted specifically.
Rob Feb 12th 2009 9:54AM
As a comment, i ran the Isle of QQ dailies a few days ago at 80. I ended up with 80 gold in greys/quest rewards, 5 greens, a blue, and 5 stacks of netherweave (10g each). So they are def. worth it. Still takes prob an hour or so to do all of em. Maybe 30 min if youa re pushing it. But there is of course zero competition (and no rep gain, unlike sons).
Don't get me wrong. The rep dailies are great. But if you are already exalted, maybe the isle dailies are still worth it? It has alot to do with the very high price of netherweave on our server currently.

So you are/were a part of that group of proven cheaters? A lot of things makes more sense now...

What is EVE Online's crafting system like?
Twothing Feb 11th 2009 9:40PM
EVE's crafting system is verry complex and diffecult, but here's, but heree my quick and misspelled rundown.
Items - Items are made from "blueprints" on "production lines"
Blueprints - Are found or "seeded" into the ecomany. Thay can be "reshurched". You can even make copys if you have an origanal.
Seeded - Put on the AH by a GM for a large amount, by poplar demand of the playerbace.
Reshurch - This is done in a "lab." it is done to reduce the mats requiered to make the item, to lower the time it takes to make the item, or to make copies of a blueprint.
Lab - Theese can be found on NPC stations. Thay have a limited number of slots to allow things to be reshurched at one time. Often times guilds will make thir own station to do reshurch in.
Production line - ware the stuff gets made. also often times full on nps stations, so it is usaly only guilds that get to make things.
Note - Most things take days/weeks to reshurch/make thus helping keep a valu. Also the lack of Blueprints avable allows for some short lived monolipys. Untill thay get seeded agon.
sorry this is long

Lets hope it's nothing like Eve Online.
Rare blueprints were spawned by a Dev and given to the corp (guild) he played in, and they knowingly accepted. The corp were known exploiters with no morals or ethics.
Everything proven by admission of the game creators and a database dump of the corp's forums.
The corp's name?
BoB - Band of Brothers.
The same corp Adam Holisky pays hommage to above.
BoB and Eve Online's creators ruined a great game for many people, and while I don't know what kind of position Adam Holisky had in BoB, I hope with every fiber of my being, that no person of importance in Blizzard ever listens to a person with the morals and ethics of someone who was (are?) part of BoB.
Andostre Feb 12th 2009 8:30AM
Falcon, how do you know that Adam Holisky was part of BoB?
Twothing Feb 12th 2009 6:43PM
` The BoB thing is cind of a common knolage thing. To colm the angered masses the EVE GMs set up an eleection ware you could vote willing mimbers of the playerbace to have some say in the games develupment. Thay would hold a meeting some ware in Greeland (i think) once a year. And fly out all the player leaders. This was intended to creat some sort of demecatic fealing in the game.
` As a side note EVE is all on one server. So whin some one abuses power, Evaryone feals it.

Okay, Question. Why does the magic system use a % of base mana for spells instead of a flat number? I have asked a few people, and no one seems to know. This really makes the start of the game seem terrible for the cloth classes, as your spells are wildly swinging from awesome (corruption: 40 damage for 20 mana in a short term DOT? GREAT!), to terrible (corruption: 40 damage for 40 mana in a short term DOT: This is so bad it's not even worth putting on your action bar).
I assume there is some reason for making spell costs so complicated and scaling them, but I can't see it. It really makes the casters a lot less fun to play, as at a lot of the lower levels, instead of having 4 useful spells, you have one spell worth casting and a bunch of garbage that is way to inefficient to be worth using.
Malkeior Feb 11th 2009 8:52PM
To prevent Blizz from having to balance classes assuming that spells were being downranked.
