Updates to Love is in the Air
There's been a lot of chatter lately about Love is in the Air. Some achievements necessary to get the Fool for Love aren't exactly working as expected (at least for us players). But we've got you covered. After the break you'll find a concise listing of what you need to know to get the Fool for Love achievement done, as well as pointers to other places to look for more information. Don't forget to check back here and send us a tip if you notice things amiss.
And remember, you only have until Sunday to finish everything up. And if you're like me Saturday night will be a solid no-WoW night, so you probably need to do everything tonight and tomorrow night. Unless of course Kara Thrace is your other girlfriend, in which case Friday night is out too.
All the updates to Love is in the Air after the break. My Love is Like a Red, Red Rose and the Bouquet of Red Roses
The Bouquet of Red Roses is no longer part of the holiday achievement. Let me rephrase and state very clearly:
In order to get My Love is Like a Red, Red Rose you just need to obtain the Bouquet of Ebon Roses – NOT the Bouquet of Red Roses. You can get the Bouquet of Ebon Roses from:
- Maiden of Grief in the Halls of Stone
- Prince Keleseth in Utgarde Keep
- Prince Taldaram in Ahn'kahet: The Old Kingdom.
Everyone loves Stormwind Harbor. But it's had too much love. So much so that if you give a guard a Love Token they'll give you jack squat in return.
So don't give any Stomrwind Harbor guards Love Tokens and you'll be just fine.
I Pitied The Fool and Naxxramas
There has been a lot of confusion, and many players have incorrectly reported that you can earn part of the I Pitied The Fool achievement by dropping your targeting dummy outside Naxxramas. You can't. You have to go into the instance and drop it. The same applies to The Culling of Stratholme.
Where to look for more information
- WoW Insider's Guide to the Love is in The Air - Dan O'Halloran wrote up a great guide for everyone detailing exactly what you need to do.
- WoWWiki - WoWWiki's pages are updated by the community, but they're still pretty darn good.
- WoW Head - Check out the comments left for the Alliance and Horde version of the achievements

This event wasnt thought out very well - luck rates aren't very helpful and especially in such a short period of time.
I personally had an IRL event that I had to go to today and tommorow I have been invited to someones place and I couldn't really say no =\
In other words... BRB gotta finish the achievements.
Dekota Feb 13th 2009 6:23AM
I've gotten all of the arch achievements done minus the Candy...I CAN'T GET ANY CANDY!!! >
Angus Feb 13th 2009 8:02AM
I'm just glad I had the candy from last year when achievements went live.
I used it and got 6 of them before January.
Got 1 bag, achievement done.
Wife is sitting at missing 1 candy.
So far, 2 dresses, 2 peddlefeet, a bazillion chocolate boxes and no petals. :( Only good thing is I can make up for that with turn ins.
But finding a Space Goat Paladin on our server is pretty much a rare drop rate... They are either priests, DKs, or shaman.

Completed everything except the candies on day 1. I have not seen a single bag, I have 40 rockets 3 dresses 2 picnic baskets but no GD candy!!!
I am now seriously exhausted from staying up till i crash every night, just standing around SW waiting for the adored debuff to go, then only getting more pink rockets!
This just can't be right...
Balrogx Feb 13th 2009 8:54AM
The fact that i have to be 80 to complete the achievement of pity the fool really bothers me.
Why cant a lvl 77 or 78 at least complete the achievement... either way we are going to get to 80 eventually.
/quit

I've actually not had a problem at all with the meta-achievement. I recieved my title and finished them all up early yesterday afternoon.
ezmode Feb 13th 2009 9:21AM
Has anyone had a problem with the The Rocket's Pink Glare achievement? I fired the 10 rockets in under 20 seconds but didnt get the achievement. From the comments on Wowhead it looks like I am not the only one:
http://www.wowhead.com/?achievement=1696#comments
I guess I will have to go get more rockets :(
Teresa Feb 13th 2009 9:23AM
3 bags of candy (still waiting on the I LOVE YOU! candy), 2 black dresses, too many rockets to count, and I've only seen the arrow to shoot others with once...
I doubt I'm going to get the pet.. :(
LatinViruz Feb 13th 2009 10:29AM
No Black dress, No Pet and No picnic To be seen!!!
Milk Feb 13th 2009 9:39AM
This has already been said in the comments but if you run UK or I'm sure any of the other dungeons that drop bouquets and a bouquet of red roses drops *It WILL give you the achievement*
The old world bosses that used to drop red bouquets no longer drop them, only Northrend bosses have them now.
I ran UK 5 times last night and we had 3 ebon bouquets and 2 red drop. All gave the achievement.
I wish I could remember who I ran it with last night, I would link their armory proving this.

It took me 5 bags of candy to get all of the candies needed for the acheivement, in the mean time I have 5 black dresses (which look great on my alt human female banker), 4 picnic baskets, 40+ rockets, 50+ rose petals and no pet, damn I want that pet!
Deadly. Off. Topic. Feb 13th 2009 10:13AM
The best way to see the drop rate is to go on about as many alts as you can and simply watch what you get. I've seen so many black dresses, pinic baskets drop that it's no longer funny.
I have seen rockets, candy bags, chocolate, petalfeet (the ones you shoot at others) drop also.
I think I only saw one actual petalfeet pet drop though.
Deadly. Off. Topic. Feb 17th 2009 11:13AM
...about the candy bag. I've seen that drop on all my horde alts, but very poorly on my alliance alts.
This drop rate sucked the big one. I'm sorry to everyone who got screwed over by this stupid achievement.
I ended up getting 35 black dresses - 25 of which were picked up by alliance alts. (I have a total of 50 black dresses, across all alts.)

Unless they've changed it, you can trade the adoration box, even when it has a soulbound item in it. Thus if you don't loot that 37'th pet, you can trade it with someone who may have boxes of candy or farm what you need with alts.
SandraLee Feb 13th 2009 10:25AM
This article says that we only have until Sunday to finish everything up. That is incorrect. The event ends February 16, 2009. The 16th is Monday.
Gridneo Feb 13th 2009 10:27AM
Gift of Adoration says Soulbound this year. Is that a change from last year? Granted I don't know if you can actually trade it? But yes, it does say Soulbound.
Deadly. Off. Topic. Feb 13th 2009 10:53AM
Yes, they changed that. Last year you were able to trade and mail the adoration box.
Gridneo Feb 13th 2009 10:26AM
Ok... So I have my 10 characters. I've gotten everything done on my main except for the Candy. I've seen Candy twice. 1st Bag = 8 things done. 2nd = None. Just going to do it all weekend I guess. I've gotten 6 Black Dresses between my alts, 1 Pet on an Alt. I seem to get Candy (repeatedly on the same alt... I'm up to 5 bags) on everything but my main.
Sadly I think certain Achievements should be account wide... Granted it benefits the people with Alts, but still... Or make the Pet only from the achievement Bind to Account.
LatinViruz Feb 13th 2009 10:29AM
been grinding every hour!
Deadly. Off. Topic. Feb 13th 2009 10:55AM
That's odd. I've had something drop for each of my alts and I've only done it for a few hours each day. Weird.
