Slorkuz posts that yesterday, February 11th, marked
the four-year anniversary of World of Warcraft's release in the EU, and Blizzard is throwing a few contests to celebrate. You can see
all of the giveaways over on their site -- there's some nice Swagdog and Dell gear to win for coming up with a great t-shirt slogan, a piece of fan art, or
answering some lore questions. Unfortunately, participation in the contests is limited to only a few countries, due to local rules, but if you're interested and able, have at it.
Congrats to Blizzard and the EU for four full years in Azeroth! North America had our anniversary late last year, and WoW Insider
put together a look back at what it was like for us. We all (including the EU)
got the anniversary pet as well, so apparently, other than these contests, Blizzard is just giving this date a nod rather than a big in-game celebration. But there's always the ten year anniversary -- we'll see you in 2014!

FIRST!
...to mention that this is a wonderful thing. Four years is pretty impressive. Also, that picture of baby murlocs kicks butt.

You know that saying the 'EU' is wrong. Since not only people living our Union play on the European servers. Swiss and Norwegians, for exmaple. Citation here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_Union. EU=European Union, EUR= Europe.

He's right ... and it's unfair, why do countries like Italy or Portugal can't participate, but countries like Spain can? :(
Lyraa Feb 12th 2009 4:23PM
I never said that I thought it was fair that italy and portugal cannot take part. I just corrected the use of the EU. However it's your government's rules that denny you access, Blizz can't denny you access due to your country.

@dAnixx (guessing you meant to reply to the comment above)
It's to do with the laws in your country regarding online competitions and gambling. Pretty much out of Blizzards control.

What's the point in having a contest if only 4 european countries are eligible to enter? *Sigh*

I feel like an upgrade from a Dell XPS M1530 to the Dell XPS M1730, but I have a feeling some German will have put his proverbial beachtowel on the proverbial sunlounger for this contest.

If you're not from France, UK, Ireland or Germany, don't bother looking.
Apparantly, it's still not clear that Belgium is NOT the frikin' capital of France

And yet again Poland can't participate.. this is not fair.. we even have a Dell factory now in Poland. Why is Blizzard not looking at the Polish wow community, there is a lot of us here :

Hi Gnimsh,
Do you have any figures (audience stat, subscribers...) and data (profile of gamers...) for the Polish users of WoW.
Tks
