WoW Moviewatch: Tradition of the Sith
This movie -- or one like it -- was inevitable. I am, in fact, shocked that it hadn't come about before now. This was a hole in the world of WoW machinima, one which Bullshitmaster has stepped forward to fill. He has created this short, wonderful piece revealing a simple thing. It is the Tradition of the Sith.
If you're looking for deep story or meaningful prose, this ain't the movie for you. If, however, you're interested in seeing a pair of Undead Sith undergo the ancient rite of passage, this is totally the way to go. To sum up, in every Sith's lifetime, the student must slay the master. That's how you become the master, you see. You kill the old master. That makes you the top dog.
Most of the music and soundtrack come from somewhere else, but it's all brought together very well for the "Tradition of the Sith." I'm especially impressed with how well BSM blended the lightsabers into the scenery. I didn't feel like it was some weird mash-up. The visual portions all actually worked very well together.
Check it out, and enjoy a little bit of Star Wars in your Azeroth.

The zenith of being a nerd

Yawn. Another slow walking, heavy music, fight, then slow walk away movie. Can we beat another horse to death anymore?

So, Mr. Naix, when was the last time you reinvented machanima with mind-blowing direction and truly unique concepts?
The video was derivative and unoriginal, but who cares? It was well put together for what it was. I'm definitely going to give the video creator credit for how well he implemented the lightsabers into the actual footage.
Nerdism as it's best.

Wordsofivory, are you the kind of person who says Epic Movie or maybe even Disaster Movie aren't that bad?

Man, kind of makes me want to make one. I've had a story in mind... but this stuff is hard! I would take a Pixar approach - make the story pretty solid before I film.
One of these days.

to much scenes with no action ... there was no flow in the movie

Wow. If ever I needed a warning that a film featuring a single fight had a achingly slow pacing, this was that film. And the blunt, "Okay, now we kill each other, 'kay?" dialog at the start was a bit of a moodkiller - I think the film would have been better with just the text introduction and no dialog. Nice effects though - but could we have maybe a slightly brighter background? Any time we didn't have full-body shots I couldn't exactly make out what was happening in which direction, which made the fight feel even gratingly slower.

Addendum - I just want to (re?)iterate that overall, I thought the implementation was VERY solid. It was really the design and artistic choices that killed it for me.

I didn't realize the cookie monster was a sith lord.

Wow, was that awful. Far too dark in places—who exactly was running around? The clip, starved for drama, was irritating rather than thrilling.
Burn it in a fire!

Hey! I remember this! It was from Knights of the Old republic 2! =D

At 3 min, the color of the lightsabers changes (dude has yellow the whole time except for 3 seconds while they swap).
Not horrible, but after watching BLIND, everything else is ... far second.
James Stevenson Feb 12th 2009 2:30PM
Great Idea, bad done.
And Tap, yea after blind everything else is a far second. This piece being a far 20th

not to show my nerdiness, but for the sith apprentice to become the master its true that they must kill their master, or the master must die. This was set up by Darth Bane when he made the rule of two. but the master didnt just challenge their apprentice. it usually involved the apprentice assassinating the master or the apprentice challenging the master about a task that they felt was against their cause. so the master wouldnt be the one to challenge, and if they were theyd probably have the apprentice simply killed by some other faction that was loyal to the sith master. other than that good movie
