Breakfast Topic: What's the oldest piece of gear you use?
Man, WoW just throws so many items at us. They're greens, blues, and purples. They're vendor trash and they're enchanting mats. They all fill up our bags and our hours in the game. They drive our raid attendance and our questing time. And some, out of all of those thousands of items, mean something to us. We've all got our cherished items, ones that we can't bring ourselves to get rid of.
This breakfast topic isn't about what we don't want to get rid of, though! This is about what we can't freaking get rid of no matter how hard we try.
The General forums were graced with Blue presence in a thread asking just what the oldest item you still use is. The OP mentioned that theirs was Dabiri's Enigma, a tanking trinket they've been trying to get rid of since they day they got it back in Netherstorm. Unsuccessfully, of course.
What about you guys? What have you been trying to replace, upgrade from, or downright throw away since Light-knows-when?

Brawlers Harness?

Trapper's Shirt :)
I suppose as far as utility goes, I had stuck by my Skinning Knife since level 5, replacing it only recently with a Gnomish Army Knife (Hey, why is there a white flag tool in it?) for it's firelighting properties.

I still have not tossed my Blessed Qiraji Pugio, but it just languishes in my bank with 2 sets of daggers (the badge dags from Quel'Danas, and my first Gladiator dags with the sweet glowing orbs on the butt of them).
They're all just so personal, and mark 3 different times when I was obsessed with a goal, and spent so many hours to obtain them.

The deepdive helm for non engineers :)
Kolo Feb 13th 2009 8:33AM
The Kaluak fishing poll at exalted does that too, although i guess you cant fight whilst its equipped.
Phil Feb 13th 2009 9:19AM
@Kolo
Actually you can fight with the fishing pole, our Ret pally in our guild was rocking 2000 DPS with it in Naxx the other night lol.
William Sagemire Feb 13th 2009 9:35AM
@ Kolo: You can if you're non-melee.
I use it when I need to farm underwater.
Reathren Feb 13th 2009 10:44AM
Rofl, i have had that same staff in my inventory with me for 2 years, since the day i got it right through northrend until i got the kaluak fishing pole.
Kolo Feb 13th 2009 11:53AM
Well obviously a mage or someone will still do decent damage with it equipped, my point was a rogue or warrior is pretty much useless with a fishing poll equipped.

Another vote for Hydrocane here! When I replaced it with the Kalu'ak fishing pole, the only thing that had been in my pack longer was my hearthstone.
Oh, wait... I think I tossed that out once when I was farming and didn't have any other way to make space. So, I guess the Hydrocane is the clear winner.

You win.
And you've never been able to upgrade it either, have ya?
nbcaffeine Feb 13th 2009 9:29AM
Me too, mine has some strange stains at the bottom and smells funny, but I can't take it off
Hal Feb 13th 2009 9:55AM
Heh, I was going to say Hearthstone. Looks like you win.
Axolotl Feb 13th 2009 8:07AM
That hinterlands fishingpole (Horde) would be the oldest thing my chars carry around, still good to gank lowbies with :D

Has to be the Skullflame shield. Saved up for it ever since I first saw it in the AH.
I'll be tanking Naxx in it when dual specs come tbh.
Dutch_sr Feb 13th 2009 10:01AM
I still have that on shammy. Dropped when I was running to do the class quest for helm in Scholomance. Don't thin I'll ever get rid of it.
Axolotl Feb 13th 2009 8:08AM
Dang, wish I thought of this one :-/
