Using city gift collections for extra Love is in the Air supplies

These will help you complete:
Plus, you will always get a Box of Chocolates which will help you with the Sweet Tooth achievement. After the jump, how to put the collections together.
This is essentially the same process you use to get Pledges of Adoration from guards. The trick is that you can get Pledges of Friendship whether or not you have an Adored buff, so give your love tokens to every guard with a heart over their head as often as you like. They will give you Guard's Cards or Pledges of Loyalty. Then find a merchant in the city with a heart over their head and give them your love tokens in exchange for a city specific item. Once you have 5 cards, 5 pledges and 5 city specific items, click on each to create a new item, then click on those to form a City Gift Collection. Do this for all three starting cities in your faction and when you have all three City Gift Collections, click on them to form either an Alliance Gift Collection or a Horde Gift Collection.
Now, go find Kwee Q. Peddlefeet. He will be next to the city leaders in each capital. Hand him the City Collection and he will give you the supplies listed above. You can immediately start the quest over if you like.
Love is in the Air and on WoW Insider. Check out our continuing coverage of the event and our guide to earning the achievement. And you better hurry; the holiday only lasts five days!Filed under: Guides, Achievements

Such a shame Kwee Q. doesn't offer the Bag of Candies...
syrensilly Feb 15th 2009 12:05PM
I'm glad I'm not the only one. I've hit it every hour while awake and only got 1 bag of candies.
Erika Feb 15th 2009 12:15PM
2 bags. I have even got the non combat peddlefeet. The first bag had all but 1. The second bag had a bunch of the same. Still no achievement.
Manga Feb 15th 2009 12:26PM
I know your pain. I got one bag and got all but one. I got another bag but no luck with that. Dang blizzard. I have gotten 5 dress, boxes of chocolates and other stuff. I want my candy!
matt Feb 15th 2009 12:20PM
My wife is up to 5 black dress but only 2 bags of candy and no pet

I noticed that in Thunder Bluff I tended to get Pledges from the female guards and Cards from the male guards. Didn't pay attention in Orgrimmar to see if this also happened, and the Undercity guards are... well...
On a side note, did anyone notice a bug where if you go up to a pair of guards and give one a token, the other one responds? I thought they were getting jealous at first.

I've had three bags of candy, and I still need one more candy =( So i guess I've been decently lucky with the bags dropping, but I still don't have the achievement. This achievement sucks.
Martyr Feb 15th 2009 1:09PM
i've had 4 bags now. first one i had contained 8 of the ones i needed. the 2nd had 1 more, and the last 2 didn't give me the last one i needed. i swear to god this is silly.
i've had guildies logging on for me every hour when i've not been around and i've skipped 2 raids now just to try and get the bags.
i swear to go, i'm gonna quit wow for a month just to show how fraking silly this is as i believe that blizzard will only listen to people if money's involved.
i've had 6 black dresses, 4 bags of candie and the pet and still i lack the meta achivement. i'm not impressed

4 black dress, 5 bags of candy (only after it took me forever to get the first back and complete the achievement). not to mention the rockets and petals, TONS. Yet no pet.. /sigh
They need to add three achievements. One where you turn in a vote to each Faction leader in 1 day. One where you vote for each faction leader everyday. Finally, reaching a gold of 100 friendship bracelets in your bag/bank. You would have to have all 100 at one time meaning the stacks you've received and destroyed wouldn't count.
Or wouldn't it be nice to give the friendship bracelets to the orphans for rep in all factions. The number could be small divided between the outland orphans and the main city orphans.
Not to mention those votes for a specific leader should give you some little boost for rep. /sighing again.

I really like the "Give Friendship bracelets to orphans" idea!

I got 2 candy bags, 4 black dresses, 3 baskets and 1 pet. I got the Love Fool achievement on the first day. I'm guessing that was my luck for the entire month because the following day I was losing every roll (rolling 3-10) on loot in OSHC and NaxxHC I needed -.-
Tego Zanduba Feb 25th 2009 8:00PM
It should be said that you get 5x of each of the reward you choose, not a single. So you can get those achievements done in two turn-ins if you're getting unlucky with those parts.
I spent the time to go get two stacks of arrows since I hadn't seen any of those drop, and of course the next two hours after that I get the arrows all over again :-(
Also, only the arrows are soulbound so if you're an entrepenur, you could do these for the rockets and rose petals if you have the gumption to try and hawk them on trade you might make a bundle.

Am I the only one that can't stand the Valentine's events? Maybe it's just because I have a ton of alts, but the process to create a gift collection is so utterly tedious even on a single character...Ugh.
I'm just crossing my fingers every hour and hoping I get what I need from the Pledges. Biggest problem is I have yet to receive a -single- stupid rocket and I can't trade them over to my main from the character that has like two dozen. -_-
RogueJedi86 Feb 15th 2009 1:54PM
Have you tried mailing them? I think the rockets are non-binding, since people have tried to give me some.
Kia Feb 15th 2009 2:08PM
Yeah, I did. It told me I couldn't mail conjured items. -_-
Squiddles Feb 15th 2009 2:15PM
Yes that's one of the most irritating aspects...some of those items are tradeable face to face, but can't be mailed as they are conjured items.
Also there's little consistency in what can be traded and what can't.
This event would be much more enjoyable if they had it that all items, except maybe the special permanent drops such as truesilver shafted arrow, could be traded or mailed to alts or friends. It would also be more in the whole "love and friendship" spirit, if you're that way inclined, or the Make Loads of Money spirit if that's what you like better.
As with every other holiday since the achievement system came in, my alts are up to their eyeballs in picnic baskets and little black dresses and one even has a Peddlefoot, but my main, which is the only one I want the achievement for, has been unlucky.
However the ice stone made it all worth it.

City Gift Collections? The ends don't justify the means. Way to big of a pain in the ass for such a small reward. Stop by a city every so often and get a gift. Completed my achievement in about 1 day. 2 black dresses, 4 bags of candy, a bunch of love rockets and rose peddles. Still no Pet.
Since they don't have this event in Dalaran, I recommend working on your Explorer, Lore master or even your diplomat achievements between hours.
Mognet T Feb 15th 2009 3:06PM
To anyone actually still doing the city turn-ins, note that John Turner in IF (the annoying guy who wants you to help the children of SW) is human and therefore awards homemade bread and NOT dwarven ale.
On the bag o' candy, finally got my second (and the acheivement) last night at 6am. This was after over 24 hours straight of farming gifts at the same time every hour: 8 Baskets, 5 dresses, 65 petals, 7 boxes of chocolates, 25 peddlefeet, 25 love rockets, 20 love fools, 100+ unbestowed rings.
Mognet T Feb 15th 2009 3:10PM
And one Perma-Peddle.
Chris Feb 15th 2009 3:09PM
This bag of candies fiasco has to stop. How can Blizz seriously think getting two lucky RNG outputs is an "achievement"? The attitude of the blue posters on the numerous forum posts regarding this is infuriating. After grinding the meta for over 3 months, I seriously think this is enough to make me throw in the towel on this game. The PvP'ers and the raiders wouldn't stand for it if they were told 'Despite your best efforts, you lose becuse the random number didn't come up'. Why should the casuals have to?
