Breakfast Topic: Did you accomplish what you wanted during the Love festival?
For better or worse, the Love is in the Air festival is over. Though there was much wringing of hands over the drop rate of the Bags of Candies, the location of Red Roses and enforced hour downtime between Pledge looting, many players managed to procure the title "Love Fool." Others are busily scribbling hate mail to Blizzard about how they are never going to get their Violet proto-drake because of this. (Pro tip: We're not Blizzard so please don't send it to us. Really. No, really.)I managed to snag my title early Sunday evening after finally getting my last candy heart and then shamelessly /shouting in front of the Ironforge Auction House to mend broken hearts. This is the first festival I've achieved a title though I can't tell you why I chose this one. Probably because there was no PvP involved. Which will take me out of the running for the Children's Week achievement that involves no less than 2 PvP activities.
Enough about me. Did you get what you wanted out this event?
| Yes - got everything done I wanted to | |
|---|---|
| Yes - but I wish I had more time | |
| No - I tried, but couldn't accomplish everything | |
| No - It was a disaster and should have never gone live | |
| I don't bother with such things as seasonal events when there is much killing to be done! |

If accomplishing involves a blue screen and a fatal error on my laptop (BTW not WOW-related) then yes ... otherwise a big NO and cries of agony ...

I voted "Yes - got everything done I wanted to" because I tried to avoid as much as I could all the gayness (as in happiness) of the event and I managed to do that pretty succesfull.

I was fortunate to get all my hearts done on the second heart of my second bag. That was Saturday morning. I didn't realize what a poor chance it had til I heard guildies griping about it last night.
Would've been nice if you could have gotten a bag of candies from the Horde Gift Collection turn-in. Similar to the arrows and suggestive love rockets.

Event just ended for me on Shadowsong.

erm, this was directed at epic in the post below.

High five! I finished the accomplishments on my second bag of candies on Saturday also! I also got the optional ones - I actually got six dresses, and after deciding to start collecting mini pets to kill some time, the perma-peddle dropped. Hurrah!
I agree though, I would have liked to see some of the random removed by making the gift collection award all the RNG stuff.

Alas, I was hoping to add Peddlefeet to my collection of pets on the character who has a collection, but it never happened.
Veras Gunn Feb 16th 2009 8:26AM
Same here, waiting for my last stab at getting peddlefeet, I'm hoping for him, but given the odds it's not looking to good.

over?....i'm still able to earn things, on frostwolf anyway

Yep, the pet is the only thing that I missed...
6 picnic baskets, 4 dresses, 3 love fools, approx 40 friendship bracelets , approx 50 rose petals, 8 boxes of chocolate, 5 rockets, and 6 bags of candy from gifts of adoration.
It took me 4 bags to get the achievement (only 1 of which was recieved pre droprate buff)
I didn't recieve a single arrow from gifts, but did the turnin a total of 5 times to get the necessary arrows and rockets to do the achievements early (the few rockets I did get from boxes were on the last day).
I stooped pretty low to get this one... opening a trial account to roll a nelf priest (low pop server).
But, it wasn't all bad... met a new friend as they helped me out with the pity party (my 3 love fools were in the last gift i recieved and I was sure I would have never gotten even them).

I got my pet (and picnic basket) on my main last year (and let me tell you that this event is not fun to repeat). My main has the dress from last year, but the actual achievement required beating RNG again which I did not "achieve". For us the timed rockets were buggy too, and like everyone else we were at the mercy of RNG twice on the candy bag "achievement".
RNG FTL!

I never saw Peddlefeet on my main, but did get him on my first try on my first alt (hurray for soul-bound....). I got lucky to earn the Candy achievement with my second bag, but then I wound up with 6 other candy bags, 2 dresses, 15-20 rockets, 10-20 roses, and one or two sets of pity's.
I did get everything else finished that was possible for a level 66 character.

RNG must have loved me. I got the pet 7 times over 6 different toons (of the ten that I logged on every hour for). My main had the love fool title by the time I went to sleep on Friday and I took Sunday evening off. Good Times!

I started collecting one Bread every time I got the deluxe gift. By the end of the event I had SIXTY ONE. No perma-peddle.
I'm all for having something be cool like this and be rare, and grats to the TWO people who's hearts I unbroke that then promptly got perma-peddle. But the RNG hates me. I'm notorious in my guild for single-digit rolls and lousy luck (1457 fish to catch the giant sewer rat).
Why, oh why, can't blizzard always include a "grind" method to get the great stuff? Gift collections should have allowed people to get bags of candy. Bracelets could have been a vendorable item to buy things.
Rumik Feb 16th 2009 8:10AM
AAARRRRGGHHHHHH!!!! I had one candy to get! Was trying every hour, on the hour, all day Sunday to get that last damned candy, BUT NOOOOOOO!!!! If only I'd had another day, but some of us have to work! :(
Potvorka Feb 16th 2009 8:50AM
the same, only one candy missing.
Mark Feb 16th 2009 8:57AM
Yep. missed it by 1 friggin candy as well.
zappo Feb 16th 2009 9:23AM
Which is the sort of stupid thing about how blizzard goes about things with "randomness" involved. What they really ought to do is require things like 5 out of 7 candies or something on that level. They already do that on some achievements so it's not like it's some technical issue.
Alexial Feb 17th 2009 12:11AM
Same here. Logged on each hour, got 3 bags of candy, but still missing 1 heart. I enjoyed all of it except the candy, which I think really should have been available some other way. Or at least make it a "get 6 of 8" or "get 4 of 8 and give all 8 away" kind of thing. These double-random number generator-based achievements are pretty lame.
Blake Feb 16th 2009 11:17AM
I'm sure if people qq enough, Blizz will just hand out Violet drakes for free. It's just the next step in their dumbing down of the game.
Sucks RNG kept you from completing the achievement, but there's always next year...
