The Queue: It's always sunny in Azeroth

Welcome back to The Queue, WoW Insider's daily Q&A column where the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Adam Holisky will be your host today.
Drew M. asked...
"Do heals crit?"
Yup! This is a good example of a basic question that if one person asks, probably a dozen more are wondering too. So no mean comments about Drew's question or you'll suffer the Wrath of the Adam King (I am a king, don't doubt my power, for reals).
Basically, everything that can cause damage or healing has a chance to induce a critical effect (save for a few heal-over-time and damage-over-time spells). Think of hitting a mob with a dagger. Occasionally you're going to get a critical strike and do a lot more damage. The same thing applies to healing. Whether or not the damage or heal will be critical depends on a roll of the virtual dice. If you roll a certain number, then the effect is critical. The magic numbers that make an effect critical are listed on the attack table, which you can modify by improving things like critical strike rating, hit rating, etc... Here's some good WoWWiki pages with additional information:
We'll look at covering attack tables in a more detailed future post.
Keith asked...
"Do you know what patch 3.3 will have for the Ashbringer story line?"
Unfortunately we don't. There's speculation that it will be concluded in 3.3, but we really don't know what's in the mind of Metzen and all his Blizzard colleagues. For all we know, the Ashbringer tale could be brought to an end in patch 3.1.
Alex asked...
"When you're saved to 25-man Naxxramas, are you also saved to the 10-man?"
Nope! You're free to do both the 10-man and 25-man versions during the same reset period (which runs from Tuesday to the following Monday). This may change for future instances, but I doubt it. Blizzard seems to really like the way 10-man and 25-man instances complement each other.
Raidoted asked...
"This may not be an easily answerable question, but does Blizzard plan on making Find Treasure useful again anytime soon? I know that there are no treasure chests in Northrend, and that's fine and all, but I can think of a few dailies where it would be nice to have that particular talent active, especially since it's a racial talent for us Dwarves!"
Probably not. Blizzard really homogenized the racial talents with Wrath of the Lich King, and I would expect them to do something that would give one race a supreme advantage in questing over another race. A Dwarf running around doing a quest twice as fast because of a racial advantage seems to be too much when you look at Blizzard's past design philosophies.
Also, I think chests have gone away forever. I really don't expect to see them back anytime soon. They were a semi-random element that just lead to people farming and botting them. And since botting is bad, well, so are chests then.

Are spells capable of critically hitting?
Deq Feb 18th 2009 3:21AM
If racial abilities have been homogenized and no racial abilities give one race a definite benefit over others, then do humans have to get MORE rep then all the other races for the rep grind achievements? I'm not bitter or anything...

I always assumed the rep thing was to compensate human players for suffering through playing a human at all, since, in my case at least, my other choice for mage was a midget, not that I don't like gnomes, gnome mage just didn't feel right.
pity I still can't be a dwarf mage though, i'd have jumped on that train in a heart beat, hell i'd start a new mage tomorrow if they enabled it.

ok so 3.1 will bring us uladar and 3.3 will bring us icecrown citadel so what will 3.2 bring us? Grim Batol? (please say yes)
Ice Feb 18th 2009 12:48PM
Are you so sure about that? They dont want Arthas to be same as illidian that comes fast some "farm boss lol" so it might come in 3.4. But anyway.. Gundrak raid? Have you seen the huge pyramid thing at the end of ZD? It almost screams "Im gonna be raid place soon". Also Utgarde raid is possible. Citadel, Gundrak and Utgarde has same type of doors with same textures and screaming the feeling "We are not finished yet, just wait till we open our doors".

Ulduar is getting so close and I have only two pieces of T7 yet for my mage. What is the best way to maximize my way of getting at least one more piece - preferably the shoulders cuz they also look awesome - with a limited amount of time (2-3 hours on weekdays, every other weekend), before the Naxx gets half deserted by other people who PUG progressing to Ulduar?

Ok, My understanding of hit is that each mob has a base chance to dodge a spell/melee attack. And even though the number changes based on talants/classes ect.
So my question is blizzird initly stated that hit cap was 18%. Has that changed? Also if im short of that cap by 2% will i lose 2% of all damage i do?
My recount states that olny about 20k out of 800k of my damage is being put down as missed which isint even a single precent, so how does that work out?

i just finnished doin the crusader bridenbrad quests in icecrown, and when the naaru says "the light does not abandon its champions" it made me think about A'dal being somehow involved in the arthas fight as he was at one point a paladin ? just interested if anyone has any views about it ?
cookiecutter Feb 18th 2009 5:15PM
Didn't notice comment 77, but i've always wondered what is behind the greymane wall at the bottom of Silverpine Forest ? could it become a raid instance of some kind ? personally i'd like it if Grim batol doesn't happen :(
Chris Anthony Feb 18th 2009 9:51PM
If I'm remembering correctly, the Greymane Wall is what separates Kul Tiras from Silverpine Forest.
cookiecutter Feb 19th 2009 1:45PM
I checked on wowwiki and it said Gilneas isolated itelf after a dispute about orc camps ? is Gilneas basically just another name for Kul tiras ? I would be interested to know what happened behind that wall if they were spared from the scourge invasion ?

Hi, what happens to old mail?
I regularly send stuff to my banker, after a month they are returned. What happens if you let thát mail catch dust in your mailbox? will i it return to your banker again?
zappo Feb 18th 2009 9:51AM
mail that is returned after 30 days, gets deleted after sitting in the returned mailbox for 30 days. If you see something in your mailbox that has been returned with a short duration, 5 days or less I would say; then you should take it out of the box and re-mail it. Don't be an unhappy camper like me when I lost 20 stacks of mageweave cloth bolts because you waited until the last minute then forgot to check your bank alt and had some other IRL stuff to do.
Shift + click on a mail item automatically puts all items into your bags if you didn't know.
Chris Anthony Feb 18th 2009 3:31PM
I'd somehow missed that, zappo. Thanks for the tip!
Jesse Feb 18th 2009 8:29AM
I believe you meant fallacy.
logic troll failed grammar check, Holisky makes a resistance check, takes half damage.

I'm wondering if there's an addon or stand-alone program that you guys know of which can gather character stats from the armory for several characters? As my guild's raid leader, I'd love a way to compile a spreadsheet of stats for all of my regular raiders, guild friends, and puggers who raid with us without having to do it manually (*shudders). I'm not a hardcore min/maxer, but I could really use a way to quickly compare people's stats when trying to fill an empty raid slot.

I'm a resto druid and it never actualy happend to me i had to use something else then my HoT's in raids. We got a pretty imba healing team you see.

I know its a nooby question.. but everyone advises me something else
kabshiel Feb 18th 2009 12:31PM
In regards to the "Do heals crit?" question...was it really necessary to ask this here? It would take five minutes to just make a healing character and spam a heal on yourself to find the answer. I swear people just want everything handed to them these days.
Yesterday I was questing on my warlock in Thousand Needles when I got a whisper from a level 10 warlock in Eversong asking where they get their voidwalker quest. I was happy to tell them where to go. Then for the next half hour I had to endure them asking me to walk them step by step through the quest, as if I had nothing else to do. It's perfectly spelled out in the quest text, but no, they needed their hand held. This is becoming an increasingly large problem, I think.

There is a chest in Zul Drak with the same mechanic as in TBC/Classic chests, but seems like its not always visible, waiting to be opened.

Got a small question. Is there any word of Cedric? The drunken sailor mentioned in the Mariners Log (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=34838) did he make it to Northrend?
