WoW EU previews Ulduar
We've been waiting not-very-patiently for news on Ulduar and patch 3.1, and the WoW EU website certainly delivered today. A preview for Ulduar has been posted, with some descriptions of the early raid encounters and a little more lore flavor for the zone itself. The very beginning of the preview gives a little setup for the zone: "Some thought it a city, built to herald the glory of its makers; some thought it a vault containing innumerable treasures, perhaps even relics of the mighty Titans themselves. They were wrong. Beyond its gates lies no city, no treasure vault, no final answer to the Titan's mysteries. All that awaits those who dare set foot in Ulduar is a horror even the Titans could not, would not destroy, an evil they merely... contained."
Awesome? I would say so. The preview also drives the point home that Blizzard is really loving the hard mode options of encounters. 11 out of 14 encounters will have a hard mode (or modes), so your raid can determine what they can handle. I don't want to get too excited about the preview, I'd like to see the zone in person before I get giddy, but it does sound damn cool and the pictures they supply are very pretty. Go forth and devour their bandwidth, my friends.
Need more news about Ulduar? We've got updates, previews, speculation, and everything else you need to know about the next big raid coming in patch 3.1. If the Titans are hiding it up there, we'll tell you about it here.

" Beneath ancient Ulduar, the Old God of death lies, whispering.... Tread carefully, or his prison will become your tomb. "
It's Yoggy time :D

Yay! I always felt bad for missing out on AQ in Vanilla, and going back to fight C'thun now isn't exactly the same. But I'll get to pwn an old god! FINALLY

Fuking stupid vehicle COmbat !! arrrgggghhhhh I hated malygos
I hate the damn vehicle combat system with a passion. Gimmick gimmick

I guess it's a love it or hate it thing. I personally really like the vehicle combat. If they said "all raid encounters from now all will rely exlusively on vehicles" I'd be pissed, but to have a handful of vehicle encounters thrown in here and there is a nice way to switch things up a bit.

Yeah, I'm not too thrilled about the vehicles either. I like actually playing my character, thanks. Plus the vehicles are always bugging out.

One thing I do admire about the vehicle combat encounters like Eregos, is that, when you lose, it's flatly saying to you "you're not skilled enough, work harder", whereas the majority of other situations can be interpreted (partially) as "oh, guess I didn't hit the gear check then, will come back in two weeks after further farming of previous bosses".
Although, a wide form of actual use of player abilities while on vehicles would be appreciated, rather than simply a firing turret on a siege engine. I'm wanting the motorbikes driven one-hand at 100mph across the battlefield while the mage at the handlebars spews pyroblasts galore, and the DucK riding shotgun uses "Black Ice" like a scythe from the war chariots of yore.

"Motorcycle drivers, for example, can create pools of liquid tar that snare opponents and can be set on fire by area effect attacks"
I dunno...it sounds to me like this might be just what people are looking for with a vehicle system.
Your driver is the a rogue/warrior or something...he leaves a trail of oil while the mage/hunter/warlock/paladin riding shotgun throws out a flamestrike/flaming arrow/rain of fire/holy fire onto it to light it up. At least that's how I interpreted it.
Whatever people say, these vehicles sound MUCH less one dimensional than what we have in game...launching PLAYERS? We don't have that yet.

Aw come on, raiding is such a breeze right now, vehicle combat is the only thing giving anyone a challenge.

Yeah, I've calmed down now. It's actually fun; aslong as they fix the healing vehicle problem with the UI

"After you've plowed through the innumerable ranks of the Iron Army, you will be confronted by an enormous tank. Mimiron built the Flame Leviathan as part of the V0-L7R-0N weapons platform, which means that it packs quite a punch"
Haha, that's awesome.

Defender of the Universe!

Just had a bad thought along these lines, 5 or 6 of the 14 bosses in here could all be same...one for each color, then all 5 together.
As much as I like the initial reference, I really hope they don't take it that far

Nice. I can't wait to run these!

V0-L7R-0N... nuff said.
Xet Feb 17th 2009 1:40PM
Epic, just the beginning of the instance sounds like it will blow every other raid out of the water in terms of challenge and enjoyment.
I would like to see class spells also used mixed in with the vehicle's can not wait to try this on the PTR's
shinken Feb 17th 2009 1:41PM
Hard mode????!! so 25 man facerolling naxx raiders can afk this too? and get better gear? I wan't hear that 25 is much harder than 10 man sheesh
Atrophos Feb 17th 2009 1:45PM
Not to sound rude, but are you seriously that retarded? The hard mode refers to being able to change the boss fights to something quite challenging such as Sarth + 3 drakes. Both 10 and 25 man versions will have hard mode for these bosses. Hard mode =/= Heroic mode.

After reading your 2 comments... isn't better if you find another hobby that don't make you angry every 5 minutes? Something you find funny maybe...
